Looking a bit dicey for our curling teams - typically Scottish if they mess up.

Men need to win their game v China and the ladies have to ensure they earn 2 wins..

Do women run the risk of inflating if they go down feet first?

Britains men's curling team snatched a win in the play-off to get through to the semi final. They struggled most of the way, and then scored 2 with a last ditch double/double to win!

They sure pulled that out of the bag! It did look like Norway were mostly in control but the very last roll of the stone snatches the win! That David bloke held his nerve very very well. Hats off to them. Now a 1 in 4 chance of a medal.

Think both the curling teams will be playing for Bronze TBH but least they got through to the semis.

Another 1-2-3 for the Dutch in the Speed-skating.

I still don't understand why we don't call ourselves 'Team UK'. Team GB is incorrect.

Politically yes. It would be interesting if Ireland ever qualified for the ice hockey Olympic finals. Bodies like the Irish RFU field an all Ireland team as they did prior to the partition in 1922. Several of the Belfast Giant players would then have to choose who they would want to represent.

Slovenia I see have beaten Austria. They really are the surprise package of the men's hockey tournament. And Tina Maze won a gold so they will be rather happy tonight. Russia to play Finland tomorrow. A bit of a disappointing scoreline only 4-0 against Norway. They did fire against the USA fingers crossed (no offence HelsinkiHorn) they do so tomorrow.

Latvia surprising the Swiss at the moment which will delight the Canadians and the Czech's are thumping their neighbours for the right to play the US.

    Ladies lose in the curling.

Men all square going into final 2 ends.

Did anyone see the Finish cross country skier basically chop a German guy in half going across his line - got away with it too.

Russia lost in the Ice Hockey - hosts not happy naturally.

Think that was the gold they wanted.

I did indeed see that. You could argue that the German could have anticipated what was going to happen and should have veered to the side, but both the Germans and the Finns will argue that it was the other's fault.

Brilliant news that we're into the men's curling final! What a nail-biting match against the Swedish, but a guaranteed medal now so happy days!

Ah what a day yesterday for Finland! A gold, a silver and then this! Little Finland dumps giant neighbour Russia on its ar5e again! :sign15:

Now on to other 'beloved' neighbour Sweden in the semis. Another team loaded with big name NHL stars but watch out the pesky Finnish lions are going to come at ya!

The Finn had edged in front at the time and had to move into a lane. The German wasn't paying enough attention and went into the back of him. Unfortunate he fell but thats life.

Not a mesmirising game, first and last periods scoreless but Finland went 1 up in the second and then Sweden came back 2-1, that's how it finished.

USA vs Canada on at 5PM which should be good, quite a big fan of Sidney Crosby who hasn't done it quite so well this olympics but then his coach does keep switching his side around too much.

Hopefully the smaller rink means Sweden has an advantage in the final

It's not going our way in the curling final unfortunately. GB men are 6-1 down to Canada so far :(

On the plus side though, this is my 5000th post :)

Canada 1-0 up through Bean after 2P

There's an American ref and surprise surprise, America have had a couple of bull**** PPs.

Crosby looking in, got about another 5 gears to go through. Kane looking good for USA too.

    I miss Jarome Iginla.

Argh Finland v Sweden turned out a bit of a flat, cagey game. Finland just couldn't find that extra gear they found vs Russia. Time for legend Selänne to finally hang up his boots at 43.

Now it's USA - Finland for the bronze which starts at 3pm UK time..how annoying! Will have to be Jon Marks and hockey.

Good luck HelsinkiHorn! I'm rooting for Finland for sure. The US will be really pissed off if they don't come away with a medal in the men's hockey.

Teemu Selanne is probably my all-time favorite hockey player. I've followed The Ducks for the last 12 years or so, but my love affair with Teemu really started on NHL 99. A truly wonderful career, that could potentially end on a high with the Ducks this season.

It doesn't get any better for the US - Finland trashed them 5-0 to win Bronze today.
