Gutted, really gutted, thought when Clarke left WBA then that may be fate and he would be Zola's Number 2 and things would turn around. A good man that won me over, a lot of fans have got their wish, always be careful what you wish for. Last Season will live me forever, the rollercoaster ride he took us through would not swap. All the best Zola, a good genuine guy, I have not got a clue where we go from here
Actually gutted. Wish there were more like him in football. Last season is the best I've ever experienced, by a country mile. Doesn't matter what happens next, those memories will always be huge!
With my football manager experience, I feel that I deserve a chance to test out my skills in the real world. I mean, our form can't get much worse.
I'm very sorry things didn't work the way we all wanted them to work. I wish Gianfranco all the best. He's a proper gentleman, and a genuinely good human being. He's just not a manager or a tactician. He'll still be a huge asset wherever he goes as a coach.
Managers have left us before for a variety of reasons, but this is the first one that has really felt like a gut punch to me. I'm am so sad and disappointed at the way things have turned out for Zola. I'm sure he must be the unluckiest manager in Watford's history; he's had so many things go against him. I'm glad he resigned instead of being removed. At least the man has left with his dignity intact, something he undoubtedly fully deserves. I'm always going to remember him fondly.
Look what happened with Anya; from a player looking for a break to playing in the Scots National team.
Just going through some of the memories from last year, that were down to him... Battocchio's goal against Huddersfield... the match where we destroyed Brighton... and 'that' goal against Leicester, with Zola tumbling to the ground in his celebration What a great legacy to leave
Btw, mods be on the lookout. You just know we're gonna get a load of Leeds, Palace, scum and Leicester fans on here giving it the biggun and rubbing it in about Zola resigning.
Gutted. Relieved. Disappointed. But mostly, gutted. The Pozzos have to take some of the blame for this. Replacing Chalobah, Vydra and Hogg with some of the utter rubbish they have thrown at Zola hoping he could continue in the same successful vein as last season was nothing short of a disgrace. Gutted with everyone at the club in failing to build on last year's awesome season. Gutted that the man to carry the can is Zola, the man who got us playing some of the best football ever seen at Watford. I hope they sort this out properly. I am not very f**king happy.
It's a real shame. I wanted him to go and I think it the right decision but it doesn't soften the blow. Absolute gentleman and I hope he goes on to have a successful managerial career if he so desires.
He was very honest and accepted results mattered most after the game on Saturday when some would have made all sorts of excuses. A shame it hasn't worked out this season and missing key players hasn't helped. Be a test for the Pozzos to see who they appoint. Another Italian or somebody from these shores? (Who would be prepared to work under the Pozzo model)

in the 25th minute at Millwall - Zola chant... Gracious and humble man, excellent player. Best of luck to him.
Glad I'm not the only one! I would have liked him to continue but after his comments on Saturday I feel this was somewhat inevitable. Big shame though. Silly season for a few days now as the names linked to the job hit the rumour mill!
With my current Fantasy Football successes, I'd like to throw my hat into the ring. The club will just need to release the funds for me to by Suarez, Aguero, Ramsay, Yaya, and a couple of decent defenders and we're sorted. I'll start penning my cover letter.
The fact he actually felt the need to quit sys a lot. Most would have stayed on and waited for a pay-off...
I guess the silver lining is that we have owners that have been in this situation numerous times. It'll be pretty hard to get someone as classy as Zola, but the Pozzos will make an intelligent decision.
Zola, in his day, would have Messi chasing his tail. Disappointed that he's gone, but you cant have 5 defeats in such awful style at home and get away with it.
Really is all summed up in that playoff semi final. The winner was the greatest Watford moment many of us have ever witnessed and the way we played in that game typified that whole season. Arguably the best football we have ever played in our history.
Grazzi Zola.... Dear Mr Zola Thank You very much for everything you have done for our football club over the last 18 months. Thank You for giving us such a season to remember last year, even if ultimately it narrowly ended in disappointment. The style of play you insisted on brought us all so many thrills. Thank You for the happy memories of performances at Leeds and Leicester and Forest and Palace and Birmingham, and in a different way the gritty but vital victory at Hull. Although you drove us mad at times with your rotation, defending and failure to put away the minnows, we'll always remember the wonderful attacking play, having two forwards each hit 20 goals, and a midfield ouzing class and ability. You gave us our joint highest league position in the Championship since 1982, the Deeneyyyyyy moment and a day out at our national stadium. Thank You too for the dignified way you conducted yourself. While other managers ranted and raved on the touchline, and even refused to speak to the media after games, you always treated victory and defeat with the same measured, courteous approach. Your attitude was a shining beacon in a sport often marred by bad behaviour and I'm sure many parents held you up to their children as an example of the way to behave. In the end, your final act of dignity was to fall on your sword, once you'd realised that maybe you were not quite up to the task of halting our slide. You also saved the Pozzos from having to make a very difficult decision. Finally, Thank You for raising the profile of our tiny but much loved club. Every football loving student I taught in Malta last summer knew exactly who you were and who WE were as a result of you coming to us. I hope your successor will be able to take us forward, to continue the legacy you've left us. Good Luck!
Not happy at all ... such a nice man ... just a shame he couldn't maintain the high standards he set last season though it's not all down to him. Would have preferred it if he moved to another role within the club.
Its such a shame it had to end this way. Thank you Zola for playing the best football I have ever seen this club play and I will never forget the memories of last season, especially THAT play off game. Im getting goosebumps just thinking about it now.
A shame. I always thought that Zola was our best signing. Too much expectation without the same group of players has given him the off. Lessons to learn.
