    If you link them at the bottom you only need the one tap.

    Mine are linked at the top, this way I can have a decent flow due to pressure for longer.

    The two cover the back of the house and for £20 each considering I am on a water meter will save money in the long run as I use them to water my veggie patch.

    I don't wash the meistermobile, the rain does that for me and if I tried to polish it the cloth would probably go straight through the rust spots.

    Get one of these and fit it at the same height as the top of the butt.

    Topgolf is awesome tbf. It's on the other side of the county for me, but good fun nonetheless and when I'm going to St Albans its worth going the extra way.

    I have 3 water butts. Two are connected like Meisters, and one sits down by a shed at the bottom of the garden. The main 2 were emptied before Winter, and I connected them up to the house guttering in March. One good nights rain filled them up completely!

    Being on a water meter means I watch what we use, environmental stuff doesn't enter the equation.

    Even though I disagree with you on this 'rich elite' conspiracy, wouldn't you want to save money in the long term by getting a water butt? Unless of course a lack of garden space means you can't fit one in.

    Back of envelope calculations:

    The average cost for water 06/07 was 0.19p per litre on a meter in the UK (according to Uswitch). Lets round that up to 0.25p for inflation.

    Your standard 200 Litre water butt saves you 50p per refill. at £30 odd quid to buy that's 60 fills before it's made it's money back. Would take a few years to make economic sense I reckon.

    With the size of my roof and the rate the butts fill, I reckon it took me 3 years to make my money back, not to mention that rain water has got to be better for my parsnips than tap.

    Not likely. There is enough water there to last Africa alone, at current projected population growth levels for a few decades. They wont have much to give away. Better we keep the Welsh and the Scots and build some big pipes.

    I had a Taylormade Driver break at Top Golf and the head flew into one of the holes. I asked the people behind the reception desk that if they recovered it they would contact me and give it back. I am still waiting for the call 5 months down the line.

    Yeah, but they've got enough oil to do some good on their own continent as well, and that hasn't stopped them selling it abroad instead. Give an African head of state the choice between water for himself and lots of dollars, or water for the people and no dollars, then see which one is picked. Assuming this hypothetical world in which water is the driving force behind economies actually exists!

    I've got a golf day next week, so tonight I went for some practice as I haven't played for a while. Top Golf and Bushey driving range are similar distances from me, but I picked Bushey because Top Golf is a bit too pricey and last time I went there I had to pay to register for a year which grated a bit. However, Bushey driving range was a disaster zone with closed bays and too many golfers. £3 for 60 balls is is good value, but the bay I eventually got was just cr*p. Their putting green was poor as well.

    Shirty, do me a deal at Top Golf.

    Malthus will have the last laugh. Science can only go so far to supplement agriculture, particularly one that is so dependent on petrochemicals and a stable climate.

    Britain is overpopulated. Thw planet is overpopulated. The general environment and wildlife across the globe are paying the price. Perhaps you'd like to try eating, drinking and breathing money in the future.
