We dont need to sell. He's under contract. It doesn't matter what he's actually worth. Therefore £7M sounds about right to me. But yet I know he'll go for around 4-5M.
You can't judge a players price on the basis of a previous sale. King may well be twice as good as Bouazza but that means jack sh*t in terms of his valuation. Anyway, £3.5 million is a poor offer. I feel an offer of £5-6 million would be reasonable.
Why would Aidy claim a player was unsettled when the player himself has made it pretty clear he's nothing of the sort? I see what you're getting at but it's pretty illogical. I think you need to stop watching those 9/11 conspiracies...
This is just incredible...... why are we always so happy to see our best players leave? We just accept it as "oh well, nothing we could have done" Well Marlon King is a different story He's not a kid ready to go on and play for England (like Ash) We dont need the money to survive He's our best player and one of the few with genuine quality We should simply say NO He's under contract and as Aidy said, £60million is what promotion is worth If we sell him now, I will have lost ALL faith in Aidy and the board
You guys gotta chill out a bit. The first offer we had for Young was around about 3-4 mill, it purely starts a bidding war, and if it goes up to a suitable amount, we'll except it.
He's only under contract until summer 2009. And I'm pretty sure he won't be signing a new one here. The whole Heidar thing proved how much value is wiped from a player within a year of his contract expiring. If the deal is right now we should take it. Marlon is no longer our talisman IMO - he has as many poor games as amazing ones and contrary to what I thought at the time of the injury it seems the people who worried he would lose that extra yard of pace were spot on. I'm not saying sell him for peanuts. But I don't think we're in a position to turn down circa £7m if it was offered.
Thats all very positive UEA but the point is we SHOULD be in a position to turn down £7million as we should have at least that to spend on new recruits We've had a **** season performance wise, King hasnt had anything to feet for the most part so Im not going to criticise him too much We cant SPEND the money if we sell King so why let him go? Also, whos to say he WONT sign a new contract?
I cant really see Portsmouth coming in for him.... Blackburn maybe? I would have thought he'd rather stay in London
Because he wants to play Premiership football and if we can't offer him that by the summer he'll be off. Though I still don't think he'll sign a new contract, even if we go up.
Good news...lets hope all bids get rejected unlike the Ashley Young saga even if 9.5 million was too much to turn down at the time. Everyone at the club and us fans want to go up (I think) and we must try to keep our top striker who is most likely to score goals.
We have disagreed in the past but, Here Here KIng James. If its less than that then my season ticket goes back.
The writings on the wall. The last time the club publicised the rejection of a bid like this, that I can think of, was Ash! See you later Marlon! Shouldnt have bothered giving your hat back at Loftus Road!
He's packing his bags, Mark ashton said on the official site ' we have no need to sell him, and neither do we want to.' which roughly means, as soon as the higher bids come in in a week or twos time, we'll drive him to whoever wins the auction. They have not said he is not for sale at any price which they did in the summer. 4 million is only 750k more than we offered for Collins John so they must have know they were taking the p1ss. I think he'll go for 6, and that we will finish 7th. It will be a sad day for us when he goes, as we will have no players who can win us games.
Flem will come back with £4m + John, who's loan deal with Leicester is up this month. The board will accept and Aidy gets the player that he stopped just short of begging to sign last year.
Hmmm it is starting to look inevitable. My hope is our board are calculated enough to get us a nice lump sum AND a quality player in exchange for Marlon as by the time this transfer saga is likely to conclude I'd bet it's going to be pretty close to the end of the transfer window, leaving no time to spend some of the cash on areas we need strengthening.
Sadly given that he's pretty much a regular I don't think it would be on the cards. Lee Cook, Tomas Radzinski, Jimmy Bullard and Moritz Volz in a straight swop for Marlon would do me!! :]]
Don't forget we are supposed to be wealthy in terms of this division now why would we need the money for Marlon to strengthen. My gut feeling is if Marlon goes Boothroyd will not be long following................
I was going to say exactly the same thing.... something not quite right with Boothy at the moment PLUS WHERES OUR EMAILS?
