If you believed everything you read in the Mirror, he would have left us a long time ago (along with half the current squad)

I would have thought that £10k / week was not unreasonable. I would guess that Jackson is on more than that. I would also imagine that Jay could join a Prem oufit, as a back up player, and be on double that figure.

On that basis we wouldn't have a team left. Apart from Hammer and occasionally Danny did anyone prove they were Prem class?;)

He may be on £9K a week now for all we know. I have a feeling Mahon is on more than £10K. As far as I am concerned, we should get rid of him and give it to JD.

sounds like he wants a drop in wages then - cheers Jay.

10k for an international player - a fair deal.

he may be worth it in these strange times we live in, but if he is demanding it, then he can shove it where the sun don't shine.

it'll be his grasping agent that's doing the demanding, whispering in his ear...

would you turn down the chance of a couple of extra ggg's a week?

What and he is not man enough to tell his agent to shut up??

Well that would depend wouldn't it? I actually enjoy doing my job most of the time - so a payrise to sit around and get bored instead of staying on what I am now and doing something I like doing - well no I wouldnt do it - but then I guess I need mental stimulation at work - which he may not see as such of a requisite!!!

blimey faith, has jay perhaps slipped a little in your love charts?

i enjoy my job and getting paid more wouldn't make me enjoy it more but i could enjoy time not at work a little more:)

what he is doing is pretty much the same as blackmail and that means I lose ALL respect for him.

Yes you would enjoy your time not at work more - but do you really think if he went to the premiership he would play as much as he will at Watford? of course he wont - therefore he will not be playing, which is what I would have thought he would prefer to do.

Having had jobs that I find incredibly tedious I would rather do something I love and get paid less, as I said - I need a lot of mental stimulation, therefore if I do something that does not keep me entertained I get very bored and demotivated, therefore unless I got signifcantly more than what I earn now I wouldn't do it = and I mean at least 50% payrise!

    Fair play to him.

Who wouldn't want a pay increase in their job? 10k is nothing in football in this day and age!

We can't afford for the Shittu and Demerit partnership to be broken up! I honestly feel if it is it could/will cost us automatic promotion!!

Pay the man what he deserves...he's been here long enough to earn one of the top wages at the club!!

i'm sure he like all the players had a pay rise when they went to the prem but have had to take a drop when they came back down.

Common clauses by clubs in contracts nowerdays.

If he had defended better, 2 pen's for example, we may have stayed up and he could have renegotiated.

he was part of a team that were relegated and therefore has no where to go when it comes to wage "demands"

Wages are a bit of a mystery to me, as I have no idea how much our average players are on. I remember when Ronny Rosenthal was head and shoulders our best paid player on £6k, but I imagine that wages have risen fairly significantly since then.

If you belive what you hear then King is top earner on about 18k.

Demerit has been here longer than most of our current squad with the odd exception (Doyley and a few others), therefore IMO deserves a SLIGHT pay increase, because I can't see him being on any less than 6k at the moment.

I don't think that's too much to ask.

If Marlon King was asking for 22k a week all the dribblers on here would be demanding Aidy offered it to him...don't give me this s**t about principals etc...it's the same thing!!

Any idea on the average wages of our squad, the sort of spread from lowest 1st teamer to highest and where we are roughly in relation to our rivals - or is this sort of information completely unavailable these days?

I can't believe you're sad enough to go and find these threads...well I can actually :dismay:

Well done, a few KNEEJERK reactions after bad performances! The jist of my post here is that he's been here a long time, therefore IMO deserves to be one of the top earners. I think you'll find in most industries that pay increase is based a lot on loyalty!

He and Shittu are a MASSIVE part of our promotion charge...for the sake of a few grand I don't see the point in rejecting the offer!!

    Kapeesh?

sad enough? it takes like 2 mins to find them, when have you ever said you rated him? the examples above may have been knee jerk reactions but you and I have had many a discussions about Jay and I was always the one sticking up for him, you slaughtered him last season.

Right - so we should pay people more because they have been with a long time - even if they are not worth it? Wouldnt that apply to Mahon too then? shouldnt he get a payrise??

My view was it all seems a bit too close to blackmail by Jay or his agent - which I dont agree with. because think of the unrest it will casue if he gets his payrise and no one else does.

Firstly Mahon is one of the top earners at the club anyway!

I slaughtered him last season because he was out of his depth and clumsy. He could have left in the summer and did what Bouazza did, but he didn't and therefore has my respect. If you cast your little memory back to when Jay allegedly came out with quotes about wanting to leave while we were still fighting relegation, that actually started off my hatred of him. He has since said those allegations were false and that's good enough for me because he's still here!!

I haven't ALWAYS slated Jay as I saw him as one of our best players when we went up last time!! He had some decent games last year, but Shittu bailed him out alot of times IMO!

The fact remains Demerit has been here a long time and has 70% of the time performed very well...couldn't say that about Mahon (apart from being here ages!)

How short people's memory's are! It was only a few years ago that Mahon won the Player Of The Year! Yes he struggled last year in the Prem, out of his depth, but in the Championship he has always played consistently well! Get off his back PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Put another scenario to this - how much would you sell him for and if buying a player to take his place at the same cost - how much wages would you pay his replacement?

He could very easily and would probably jump to the chance of signing for Foolham - where he may be comparable to Zat Knight - I wonder how much Knight is on? Foolham fans complain about Knight not being good enough.

Who scored the first goal with a brave header at the Millenium stadium that set us on our way to the demolishing of Bleeds Utd?

Loyalty works both ways - the club need to either pay him or let him go if they do not think he's worth 10k or explain t him why he isn't worth 10k and see what he does - if this rumour is true and this is the situation.

No he isn't. There was that interview someone posted a few weeks back of a Demerit interview with american press.

I think he is on 6 and a half grand from memory.

To be honest I can't believe the amount of money grabbing *******s that have emerged in our team - IF this is true. Which it probably isn't.

He isn't anywhere near good enough for the Premiership anyway. Heck, he played poorly against Wolves and United anyway. I doubt anyone would come in for him.
