Agreed, however if we were to gain promotion again the squad would need some transformation! Although we do need to get there first
H, turned down WBA, he has two choices , sit out his contract which he will not do as he wants to play, or get transfered, Aidy wants him back as he is the ideal partner for Marlon. If I am wrong I will never come on these boards again. Trust me on this one, it is a cert.
Had a trawl on on couple of WBA sites (horrible I know but had to be done) the rumour is that H does not want to drop a division.
I live in a cave - we will pish this league - we don't need quality to get out of this league we need what we have and a couple of additional signings so all positions are covered. Are you Mr wfcMagoo as you seem to be blind to the fact that our shyty little squad actually held their own against many of the teams in the premierhip and their quality players and did remarkably well in the circumstances after the loss of Marlon and the sale of Ash.
Birdy, after getting me all excited like you just have, if this now doesn't turn out to be true I will hunt you down and strangle you with my old Helguson shirt... :]]
As if Fulham can genuinely expect to get £3mil for a near 30 year-old who only scored 4 goals for them last season and cost them only £1.3mil two years ago. I would guess £1.7-2mil would be a more realistic fee.
HEIDAR ! HEIDAR ! HEIDAR - HEIDAR- HEIDAR HELGUSON !! (and his wife is very pleasant too - is she coming home to that arty crafty shop next to Currys and Halfords?)
Sky Sports were saying Fulham offered WBA £4 million for Camara plus H (as a makeweight). I would rather have Heider and keep the dough.
I must be mistaken. I thought our shyte little squad finished bottom of the Premiership and that there are gaping gaps in class between ourselves and the lower teams in the Prem. I must be thinking of someone else.
But we are in the championship now - didn't lose a game with our shyty little squad against the teams from the championship last season in the cups - and that with a team low in confidence - Well observed that we finished bottom. You underestimate our ability based on a season in a league that is far superior to the championship, add a fit again MK IMO we are as good a squad as anyone in this division and will pish the league and win the Carling Cup!!!!! Out of curiosity how many games did you actually see live so I can assess your view with more depth of personal opinion?
I disagree with this. None of Man City, Wigan, Fulham or West Ham ever outclassed us and we were very unlucky not to get more points than we did, particularly without King. Though we weren't good enough to stay up.
I saw about 25 live league matches, plus all the cup games except Stockport. Don't get me wrong, we competed well against many teams for extended periods, but this was rendered useless as we were lacking the class to unlock a game with a goal, even when we had plenty of play, which is a fundemental weakness if you want to pick up points. I think if we are to look to be a top 2 club (which I think we should be hoping for) then we need to augment our strike force with one other striker who can support Marlon and add 15 odd goals himself. Hendo will have a job to do, from the bench or as stand in. The Championship promotion race last year was very competitive, with about 10 clubs all involved at one time or another. Only 3 went up. We will need every edge we can get to be one of those 3 this year and blind optimism alone will not carry us through. We should have learned from Reading last year, who built for their season in the Prem whilst they were still in the Championship. You can't expect to go up and hope to panic buy a premiership quality squad in one summer.
Those `Tribal chaps` are still talking up the H deal. I think he would be a real gem - just a couple of problems: 1. He is reported as wanting to stay in the Prem. 2. I don`t think £1million would get him. c/p Watford are set to offer £1 million for Fulham striker Heidar Helguson. The Iceland international has turned down a move to West Brom, but could make a return to Vicarage Road in the coming days.
I agree and the last sentance is why i am debating with you about how we performed last season even going down. Remember Reading were over 20 points clear of us at the top and sheff utd 9 points clear ( and they went down as well Ha ha). Our squad could not match any in the premiership, whereas now it is possibly one of the top three in value if not the top in The Championship. Hendo knocked in 12/13 goals and there was far more service to him and others in the fizzy pop league - i believe without blind optimism that we will score loads of goals and also our defence is stronger than two seasons ago. I truly feel that Tamas will get 15 plus goals if given a regular spot, also hopefully Hammer B will do an Ash and get double figures. Hoskins and Hendo should chip in with a few each as well. Add from midfield Rinaldi doing a Springy and then the few from the centerbacks and maybe macthemuff and Smithy as well - i if given a chance will bet on over 80 goals next season and if we conced say 50 a plus 30 goal difference will see yo in the top two if not champions. I would say that the 8/9 goals Springy scored from midfield is not obviously seen to be replaced but I am hoping Rinaldi wil actually knock the same amount in. I even expect Jordan Stewart to score this coming season as I always lose my money on him but suspect we will have to wait another 2/3 seasons for Lloyd to score As for the league being competitive last season to me shows how weak the teams were. Out of the three teams in our play off one got relegated, palsarse were no where near and Preston bottled it again. The likes of Colchester and Barnsley and Hull maintained their status and suffend may have ben slightly unfortunate to go down. Teams like Naffwich, Ipshyte, Soton, wolves, carduff were all thereabouts or looking for a play off place because they were all as shyte as each other and coventry since selling mcsheffrey have lost the plot for being ambitious. The bookies have us as 4th/5th favs to win the title and 7/2 at william hill to go up - is that blind bookmaking or based on something? Its lunch time chicken tikka masala and nan bread - hope the bog paper hasn't all been used in the office.
The only place I have seen number 1 reported is some randomer on their rivals.net forum. Maybe the reason why he rejected West Brom, if he has, is because he knows of our interest and so would prefer to return to us than them, rather than necessarily rejecting them because he wants to stay in the Prem. 2. I agree, but a final fee of £1.5mil wouldn't surprise me. £1mil could just be an opening offer.
Don't forget moving up north will be an upheaval however Foolham to us would not require a house move.
I was starting to feel more positive about the season until the unneccessary stuff about the bog paper Hopefully you will be right and I am worrying about nothing, but I still beleive we should have pushed the boat out on at least a couple of players who would be bought with the Prem in mind. Jobie maybe fits that bill, and a striker of H's potential would be the other. Hopefully he will just f*cking sign for us and I will finally be happy and move on to compaining about our defensive frailties.
Well at least our goalkeeping frailities have been repaired - Bozo out - that will help the defence a lot.:]]
