Pollock has an assist and scored. Watford leading 2-0 at half time, but are down to 10-men. Adu-Poku sent off with a harsh straight red.
At least if we stuck him up front he wouldn’t be hacking it out of defence which leads to us conceding
Well, Rhys, you may not be in the manager's favour, but you did exactly what we needed when you came on, and that's secure a point for us! You have at least matched Pussetto's contribution to Watford FC, minus the questionable transfer fee!
In just 65 minutes of Championship football Rhys has scored twice, got an assist and won us 4 points. Pretty impressive, Ismael might not see him as a starter but we'd be mad to let him go next month.
Not quite as extreme a case as Richarlison playing in competitions at state, national, continental and Brazil youth level when he was at Fluminense, but I wonder if Rajovic will fade a bit as the season goes on? He's hit the ground running well, which perhaps isn't surprising as he was match fit coming from Sweden where they play through the summer, but he hasn't had a proper break since he left Denmark at the end of 2022. Also considering Bayo may get a call-up to the AFCON (unlikely, and that's if they haven't named their squad already), I think we will need Healey even if he is 3rd choice right now
I would suggest he actually won us 3 points (the one against Southampton, then against Blackburn he turned one into three)
At that rate, with the possibility of him winning us perhaps 5 points per 90mins, it's CRIMINAL we're not starting him every week!
Adam Leventhal @AdamLeventhal· 12m Transfer news Huddersfield in advanced talks with #WatfordFC re signing of Rhys Healey. Fee in region of £2m. Signed 2yr(+1) deal at Vicarage Road last summer. Move set to pave way for Watford to sign replacement
I think he has more to offer than we've seen but equally you can't knock a £2m fee from a free signing and didn't look like he was ever truly in VI's plans so a good bit of business overall for both parties. Think he'll do decently for them as he needs proper gametime to get back to the same level of sharpness he had pre-ACL but there is a good player there.
I'm not surprised. I know he's scored a couple of goals, but one was a tap-in and the other the keeper should have easily saved. He's a lively, positive guy...so nothing wrong with him as a character, but he's just not sharp enough. He's not been given too much game time to be fair, but he still looks a long way off from the type of player we need. He always seems to get the ball stuck under his feet. £2m is a good return on a player like him and maybe he'll do well at Huddersfield. We never really needed him in the first place, but in an exercise of flipping a player (music to Gino's ears) he's been a success.
He's also 29 and he's not going to get any quicker. Would be a shame to see him go but prob best for him and us. Could be a great signing for HT. Will obviously score against us.
Signing a player for free then immediately selling them for a few mil is a classic football manager money making scheme
Not against that at all, he looks a shadow of the player he was when at Toulouse/MK and I'm not sure he'll ever be the same after his injury. Was worth the gamble on picking him up on a free as i've said before - if he could get back to the player he was he'd be our best striker. Maybe a run of games will see an improvement but maybe not, 2m profit on him is decent.
Plus can add to that if Pozzo is genuinely going to give Val time to sort things out it's already really clear Healey's never going to flourish in his preferred system.
£2m is ridiculous, let's be honest. You take that every day. Came in, won us some vital points. Leaves us in a really positive position. Hope he's successful at Huddersfield and keeps them up.
Another one to join the Gino Pozzo scrapheap, womp womp. Look forward to signing a replacement that's even worse.
It is, and when we sell the payment schedule to MacQ, after interest and fees we will have that £750k available immediately to spend right now.
Shame it didn't work out as I thought he was a shrewd pickup, but £2m profit is decent business. No excuse to not go out and get another striker now.
