Not sure this is my absolute favourite 10 (as with others it's really hard to narrow that down from a pool of so many), but in no particular order....

    Monty Python and Holy Grail
    Office Space
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    Event Horizon
    Aliens
Conan the Barbarian (Arnie version, probably one of the best ever movie soundtracks)
    Jurassic Park
    Schindler's List
    Jaws
    Dancer in the Dark

  2. Vic

Gran Torino (Clint Eastwood’s best. A beautiful film about redemption).
Little Miss Sunshine (So much to love about this film. Especially the final act).
Rocky I (Magnificent movie. Wonderful score by Bill Conti. I love this one).
Rocky II (Worthy follow up. Then ignore subsequent films)
Life is Sweet (Mike Leigh film with Alison Steadman, Jim Broadbent and Stephen Frears. Disturbing, amusing, touching.)
There Will Be Blood (Great period drama about early oil greed. Daniel Day Lewis was mighty good)
    Gladiator (why not. Powerful).
The Spy Who Loved Me (first Bond for me, aged 7. Dad took me to the cinema. Best theme tune from Carly Bigmouth Simon. Amphibious Lotus Esprit and the most beautiful Bond girl ever).
A Room With A View (The ultimate costume drama, from Merchant Ivory. All others are imitations).
Erin Brockovic (Julia Roberts at her best. Great true story about fighting the big tossers)
This is Spinal Tap (most movie lists only go to 10. This one goes to 11).

I see Shawshank Redemption getting in a lot of people's choices including mine. It was absolutely panned by the critics on release apparently.

    imho
    Gladiator - Overrated
Star Wars - I think needed to be seen in the era. Starting to date badly now but would recommend the pre-touched up version
Harry Potter - I'm not a kid so have avoided.
Lord Of The Rings - Not really into the Wizard and Orcs stuff, tried reading one of the books once and couldn't finish it so avoided.

Gladiator is worth a watch if you've not seen it. Along with the others on my list of course :D

Outlaw Josey Wales deserves a shout out. However I would replace your No.5 with :- "How The West Was Won"

Interesting that “ The Godfather” appears on a few lists, when I thought aficionados of the series generally agreed “Godfather 2” was superior? I’ve always seen it referred to as one of the few sequels that betters the original. I personally agree with those who have the original on their lists as it’s my favourite of the series.

Without Godfather Part 1, part 2 wouldn't have been made. I agree with your shout that Part 2 was better and would say that as a collection Parts 1 & 2 are outstanding, Part 3 was OK but ruined by some wooden acting.

Not a great movie buff, but a mention for Harold and Maude which is one of the quirkiest and most enjoyable films I've seen.
Another vote for Spinal Tap too.
