Can’t say I recall him at Sheff Utd last season at all, but then again, they weren’t known for their stubborn defence…
Yep, happy to say this is true. As I said, didn’t want to give the name as wasn’t my info so was never going to take any kudos for something I didn’t know about!
Technically not mine either but given the owner doesn’t say a word or there’s nobody to report on rumours being false (not including Andrew in that as he doesn’t do rumours) but it spices up the summer anyway. Same person told me Kayky is staying and a striker is close to joining from a Prem club. It’s not Tom Cannon or anyone like that so we’ll see
A tad underwhelming given some of the names we were linked with. An incredibly mixed set of opinions from Blades fans on him. General impression from reading their views and looking at his stats is that he's a good athlete and excellent at carrying the ball forward, but not great at most other things. His tackling stats do also look good, suggesting he's combative, yet some Blades fans also claimed his attitude wasn't great and he would get caught out positionally all the time. Seems rather similar to Zemura overall really. Considering Clevs seems to want our Wing-Backs to bomb forward he should suit that at least. Some Blades fans' opinions: "Still think wilder could make a player out of this lad" "With all the players leaving his exit has barely registered. One of the worst professional footballers I have seen. As an athlete he's got a fair bit on his side just unfortunately he has the football IQ of a 7 year old. Seeing that fall again really is just like watching kids playing " "I have never seen a professional footballer with such bad body language as Larouci. Never once warmed up properly, never seen him even break into a half sprint. Really looks like he doesn’t give a ****. There is no way this guy was scouted in person. Laughable waste of talent, another one for Club Mousset" "Absolute waffle. The hate this bloke got is baffling he was one of our better players this year . Wolves away? Villa Away? He was outstanding " "He struggles defending, controlling the ball but seems to bulldoze his way forward. " "1- Not gangly , quite stocky, poor positionally and a poor defender. 2- He was OK at driving forward - but a bit aimless and random." "Defensively was not good but I still maintain if we played wingers, him and Bogle would have done the job well albeit not at PL level. He always felt a bit out of control whenever I saw him play. " "I bet we have a worse LWB than him next season. He's...... odd defensively but definitely has some talent and athleticism. I thought he should have played more and that Wilder's treatment of him (and McAtee) was poor towards the end of the season" "Off to Watford on a loan to buy agreement. Be interesting to see how he does at championship level as don't think he was as terrible as some people made out." "^^^^^^this, never understand bad comments he got. Good going forwards. Only made one big mistake vs Liverpool keeping the ball in play." "Never did a full backs job and got touch tight to the attacker. Difficult season for him in a shocking side. He did not impress me at all but GLTTL." "Not the worst player ever, but you’d rather have him against you than for you." "Positionally he was appalling." "Would've expected him to go back to France. But he seems determined to prove himself in the Championship. Good on him. I think he's a pure wing back (not a good enough defender to be a full back, and not dynamic enough to be a winger) which makes him expendable in a system with 4 at the back which seems to be the formation Wilder prefers now." https://www.s24su.com/forum/threads/yasser-larouci.96236/page-30
Well, kudos to you guys. I particularly liked Burnsy teasing the new signing. It kept an otherwise mundane working day more interesting.
I remember watching this guy a few times last season. Quick and very erratic, can be fun and can be a complete disaster all in the same game.
Have you got a name for that striker? If so, do you reckon they’ll suffice to be our main starter? I like the idea of Kwadwo Baah being converted from a winger into a potent striker, but other than the Stevenage game it hasn’t been that effective in pre-season. A number 9 is arguably the biggest weak spot in the side.
Maybe overreacting to our youngsters being bullied tonight but I think we need another hardened CB. Liam Cooper would be good.
Ali Al Hamadi - Ipswich Callum Marshall - West Ham Donnell McNeilly - Chelsea Jimmy-Jay Morgan - Chelsea Ronnie Stutter - Chelsea Will D1ckson - Man City Jude Soonsup-Bell - Spurs Will Lankshear - Spurs Zach Marsh - Crystal Palace I'm sure I'm missing many, but these were ones I had already noted as potentials when looking at possible prem loans a while ago. Just checked which ones haven't appeared in the Prem yet and this is what I was left with.
I agree it’s another area of weakness. But if we can keep Hoedt, and if Kayky is staying with us, then I think there will at least be plenty of options. Whether they’re the level required is s concern, but I think Porteous/Sierralta have proven themselves passable for a lower-Champ team. Maybe one of the young lads will come good too. Up top though, there’s just nothing. We know they’re not good enough. Defence = more hope than expectation Attack = don’t even have hope
None there at any of Cleverley’s former clubs. There’s been plenty of chat about his good connections and I guess it makes sense he’d know people from across the PL. I’d just assumed we’d be most likely to get someone from Everton, Villa or United.
Didn't see too many options from those clubs. Rory Wilson from Aston Villa maybe but wasn't particularly prolific at U21 level last season. And Gabriele Biancheri & Victor Musa from Man Utd, but they're both 17 and I'd be surprised if we went for someone that young as our main striker.
Any of these suit the profile of striker TC wants? Or any there anyone fancies in particular? I know nothing at all about U’23 football
