Still playing at the ripe old age of 37. Scored yesterday in the fourth tier of German football. Wonder if he's finally transitioned to the left winger I think he always wanted to be...

This is their cunning plan to keep our manager turnover up to par, while they enjoy their 'stability leading to success'

Agreed. Something wonderfully un-Watford about a player being permanently disgusted by those around him not wanting to win as much as he did. Early signs are promising that Danny Rose could also be in this camp.

Completely agree. Never understood why people were turned off by him being so competitive and wanting to win. We wouldn't have gone down if the rest of the team had inherited that determination.

I think it was because he wasn’t actually that good at football, and for some fans playing with a permanent grimace on his face didn’t magically make up for that.

Because he was a born, cutthroat winner. We don’t like them around our club as the fans are happy being plucky losers and waving flags during the worst defeat in our history.

Agreed on both counts. Rose is the shining star of this season. The only non disgrace v Leeds I reckon.

Everything about holebas was great, from the fact he made it clear he didn't want to sign for us in the first place but still gave his all, ace long shots, hard as nails, sent one of our fans private messages in the relegation season, the bizarre clothing line... What's not to like?

But of course our brain dead fans never forgave him for faking injury to try and trick the ref into getting an oppositions goal disallowed.

To be fair I think peak Ronaldo or Messi would have looked a disgrace against Leeds. The team was incoherent from start to finish. You're on a hiding to nothing in that situation.

And only cost what, £1.2m or something mad like that. You never see transfer fees like that these days. Everything about him was bonkers.

Yes, and he was mostly awful. It’s just the Fessi/Vydra fetish most of our fans have that elevate him to something he wasn’t.

Holebas is the sort of player this current crop are missing. Not the best football gifted, but he was grafter. He was never afraid to go in for a challenge (his yellow card tally is pretty impressive), he was up for a battle (most of the time) and he could take a corner a lot better than some of the players we have now. He also got a bit hotheaded but that was part of who he was. He wasn't perfect - but for the time he was with us, I think most fans' appreciated him for what he did.

Lol, we're 7 games down and already not beat Newcastle, Leeds, Wolves or Brighton.

We haven't faced, City, Chelsea, United or Liverpool.

And in Ranieri's last stint in the Prem, his record reads: played 17, won 3, drew 3, lost 11, scored 16, conceded 34.

He's managed some wonderful football clubs but 17 days shy of his 70th birthday Claudio Ranieri does not excite me one bit.

No, we're good - was just saying that of the players other than Rose, I don't blame them for looking garbage with the way they were set up. We just had no plan at all so most of them were bound to look crap.

Fully agree Rose was the best looking player out there and the rest looked poor.

You implied his win rate at Sampdoria wasn't good, I replied that it's good enough for a team like us.

His stats were also quite impressive for a left back in his early to mid-30s, with 5 goals and 14 assists in 114 league appearances. Pereyra had 16 goals and only 5 assists from 106 games and considering he's an attacking midfielder nearly seven years younger it shouldn't have been that close.

They only see the points total and position really unless it’s v a big team or the pundit of covering a game for Sky on Saturday as Michael Dawson was yesterday saying we were hopeless .

Some of the comments from Leeds fans were the funniest, they’re offended we’ve sacked our manager because they think we should be expecting a certain loss at their place.

On a wider scale, this is just another moment where the statement made by Duxbury after relegation is shown to be empty claptrap.

I’m glad they have acted to remove Xisco. But all the talk of learning lessons from our last PL season - when so far, they have repeated it so far pretty much step-for-step. Fairly large argument to say Xisco is Gracia then, and Ranieri could be QSF given the run of fixtures coming up. Be interested to see how Duxbury would spin that one.

Xisco should have been removed in the summer and his lack of badges would have given the club reasonable excuse really.

I just wanted to thank you Burnsy for the "heads up" calling out about the new head coach before it happened. It was when you wrote that you had heard "something" was happening that I thought there was indeed some truth to the rumours. Great that you are able to share on here although next time I hope it's a new player not a new coach!

The situation is superficially similar, but the aspects are quite different. Firstly, I think Gracia was sacked too hastily, especially with the run of games we had coming up, whereas Xisco should have gone after Wolves at the latest. But at least we have some points on the board and our next set of fixtures doesn’t look quite as tough as the one QSF was plunged into - all of our matches against the top sides are at home, and all of them except Chelsea have dropped points in winnable games. We could also get points against Everton, Arsenal and Leicester and though Brentford could be this season’s Sheffield United, it’s also quite possible they may be on the slide by the time we play them. Secondly, I don’t know your view on Ranieri’s appointment, but I’m confident he won’t set up teams defensively in matches we need to win.

On Talk Sport this morning they played the clip of him of him saying we’ve built the team around Xisco and he’ll got all the time he needs, then basically laughed at him.
