Who Can We Realistically Get Rid Of This Summer?

Not sure about "significantly", but he does appear to be slower, and Sema is already fairly slow for a winger. On the few occasions Sema actually manages to get beyond his full-back it's as much due to his strength in being able to shrug the full-back off rather than actually beating them for pace, and Zinc doesn't have that ability to hold off defenders either.

You made the point above about Xisco not fancying him on the left because he looked defensively suspect and the same would apply for not wanting to put him on the right either; basically Zinc gets shrugged off the ball too easily when in one-v-one duels e.g. when directly against an opposition full-back marking him. This is another reason why I've pointed out that playing as the advanced midfielder should actually be to Zinc's benefit, as it should make it easier for him to find pockets of space where he's not being man-marked by the opposition full-back who will often immediately dispossess him whenever he collects the ball.

 

I thought that was the plan for the whole team as they all do the same

 

One of these days the opponent marking the front post zone is going to have to be subbed with concussion and that'll be the light bulb moment where the strategy pays off.

 

Maybe we should just put a player on the first man and gamble for the flick on. It's one of the most frustrating aspects of football for me and it happens constantly at every level.

 

We're just trying to lull other teams into a false sense of security. It won't be long before they don't even bother putting a wall in front of our free kicks.

Extremely dubious assertion. Obviously no-one bothered to tell Cally, who was also not blessed with great pace, but absolutely peppered the box with top-notch crosses, despite rarely beating his full back in a straight foot race.

 

I believe he produced more assists than Digger did down the left too.

 

Beckham and Waddle were wingers not blessed with a lot of pace. Both just had great ability in the delivering the ball to the right place. a lot of wingers who are quick fail to have an end product

 

Has Cally been inducted into our hall of fame? If he hasn't he should be, because in my book he is one of the best players we have ever had, even better than Barnes in my book, although I know many on here won't agree with me.

For those of you who never saw him play, the reason I consider him better than Barnes is that even though Barnes could be brilliant at times, Cally could be equally as brilliant, but overall was far more consistant than Barnes, as Barnes could go missing for 2 or 3 games, but Cally nearly always put in a good performance.

One more reason that others might disagree with me is that for some reason he was the "Boo Boy" for many on here, but Barnes could do no wrong in many peoples eyes. I've seen Barnes miss a complete sitter and many in the crowd would shout "Unlucky Barnsey" where as Cally might smash in a shot from an almost impossible angle and the keeper pulls off a worldy save, and those same people would call him a useless **** or worse for not scoring.

 

I'd like to see this backed up with a heat map for Cally. Else your opinion means nothing round here.
