Gavin & Stacey was brilliant. I know plenty of friends who didn’t watch G&S as they can’t stand Corden but have recently watched and loved G&S from the start, filmed back when he was an unknown and had no ego. Honestly, just watch the first 2 episodes of the first series and you WILL be hooked, I promise !!

Every single "celebrity" that has ever come out of "reality" TV.

 

The only ones I despise are not really celebrities, but the influencer types that have mostly come from reality TV shows. I’m not talking about people with popular YouTube channels they’ve built up from nothing, even though they’d probably be classed as influencers.

The poster girl for this is that Molly Mae woman. Shagged someone on love Island who happened to be semi famous themselves, then made that tone deaf comment about there being no reason anyone else couldn’t have been as successful as her because “we all have the same 24 hours in a day”. More recently released a premium clothing line that was absolute trash, cheap nasty quality and just doubled down and blamed the manufacturer.

They are parasites and unfortunately large swathes of people will buy anything with their name attached to it, or believe anything they say simply because they once made it onto a brain dead TV show.

As for normal celebs, I’m really ambivalent to most if not all of them. Lineker, Cordon etc. I can see why some people don’t like them, but I can’t bring myself to care either way.

 

Honestly couldn't name one. At least i don't think I could.

 

I'm not sure how old everyone one is on here but I shall assume that we are mainly of a certain vintage and that we are not the target audience or customer for "influencers" .

With that said in years to come no one will remember them for they had no talent in the first place .

 

I’m early 40s, I don’t watch any of these shows but stuff permeates out into social media and places like Likedin. I hate LinkedIn with a passion but unfortunately I need to use it regularly. I think both instances I referenced above about that particular ‘influencer’ were shared repeatedly on LinkedIn and used as engagement bait by a lot of people, so that’s how I picked it up.

I guess maybe if people are 50s/60s then they won’t be on these channels as much or at all, so much easier to avoid them completely.

Re James Cordon, yes he's an arse but I avoid programmes with him in, unfortunately he appears in the odd film but nothing to get my pants in a twist over.

Also, I've been lucky that all celebrities I've met in person, all were OK and chatty.

 

I didn't mind James Cordon at first and as others have said G&S was excellent start to finish (Ruth Jones had a large credit for that) but when he was rude to the legend Patrick Stewart he was dead to me

 

Very difficult to pick just one from the hundreds that I absolutely loath but Michael Macintyre would be near the top of my current List of Total Ar5eholes

 

Mel B. We were at the theatre once and Mrs S was feeling unwell near passing out. She managed to go to the back and Mel B came past tut tutted as if she was drunk rather than ill and stepped over her without a thought to help

 

Paloma Faith comes to mind for me. There are loads more and I'm sure I'll be a frequent visitor to this thread as they come to mind.

I use LinkedIn a lot but mainly to keep in contact with ex-workmates and recruiters. In fact I was messaging my ex secretary from EY and an ex colleague from Uni on there this morning. I never read what anyone posts on there. It's a bugbear of mine that employers seem to see their employees LI accounts as part of their marketing arsenal. All our staff are constantly being told to "share" company articles with their LI contacts. **** off ! It's my personal account. I might occasionally like one of our company articles but they are kidding if they expect me to share company propaganda with 500+ people who wouldn't give a **** what my employer is up to.........or read anyone's posts !!

 

He's the living definition of a beta male. Someone who took the concept of 'toxic masculinity' to heart and so became a complete drip.

 

I used to fancy her. She'd have been absolutely bloody gorgeous if she spoke with a home counties accent.

 

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what it is now. It’s adjacent to clickbait from tawdry newspapers, it’s essentially free advertising, which basically gets their name seen by people via engagement and more people liking and sharing stuff that then makes it pop up on other people’s feeds and gets the name seen, and the followers up.

Sadly I get forced to do it in my current role, if I go to an event I have to post some nonsense written for me and tag loads of people that were in the event in. I dread to think what some of my connections and ex colleagues think about it.

The absolute worse are individuals posting crap for engagement though, it normally has a selfie and some story with a genius link to business, or something they’ve learned. This where I’ll often see articles references like I originally mentioned.

My wife thinks she's hilarious. Genuinely don't know what her "talent" is?

 

I think she's 'talented' in a grown up stage school kid type way. I am sure she's got an NVQ in musical theatre or something.

But she's just awful and you can tell that behind the fake hysterics on BGT she's an absolute diva and just horrible to young production assistants.
