What Teams Do Your Colleagues Support/follow?

At my workplace it’s pretty boring - 99% of the conversations are about the top six Prem teams, mainly Arsenal and Man Utd, with one or two fans each of Spurs and Liverpool. There’s a Charlton fan but they hardly talk about them and don’t talk about any other team below the PL. I was hoping admitting I was a Watford fan during a Friday team catch-up the week I started my current job (Feb-Mar this year) when they were about to play Arsenal would spark some interest, but it didn’t really last beyond the following Monday.

On the other hand, there were a couple of fans of lower league clubs at my previous job - one of them a Doncaster fan, the other one of Stockport when they were National League North which made for quite interesting conversations. And at the job before that there was someone who played for Kingstonian when they played and lost to Boreham Wood in the 2010 Ryman Premier play-off final.

Do any of you have colleagues who are fans of more of a mix of teams, or is it much the same as above?

I work in the West Midlands so we have Wolves and Villa fan in my team and the gaffer’s a Birmingham fan. We have people all over the country and have met people who support Sheff Weds, Swansea and West Ham in the last few weeks - a diverse mix.

Funnily enough the only one where we have bragging rights is Man Utd. If we'd played them every week we'd have stayed up comfortably.

I live in a small town in Sweden with a number of English Expats or immigrants or what ever you like to call us. But they all support the teams where they come from, Watford, Man City, Wigan, Sunderland, Millwall, West Ham and Bristol Rovers. All the locals support Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and Man U

Had a group of friends who all supported different clubs. One was Spam, one Broro, one Spuds and one Manure. It's pretty rare to meet a fan of a team who is not either in the Champ or PL these days, but they are also the most passionate of the bunch you could ever meet.

Brann of Bergen, they all say they support English teams but I just tell them to eff off. But I must admit I worked with one of the biggest ***** I'd ever met, surprisingly a Liverpool fan, not only had he never been to Liverpool or seen them live he spoke English with the most comical scouse accent I've ever heard.
For nearly two weeks he walked around the shipyard with just call me c u n t on the back of his overalls. Smashing fella

I live in the West Midlands. People I work with support various clubs including Blackpool, Stoke, Wolves, Everton and the odd Vale fan. My old manager (took early retirement last year) is a Manchester United fan from childhood as so many are. Nice bloke, but try and have a good conversation about football with him. Waste of time.

I have a colleague who lives in Uxbridge and is a Man Utd season ticket holder. He attends two or three home games a decade, but “sells his ticket” to the person who sits next to him. He is so fearful he will be unable to get one when he retire, so he won’t let it go. Mind you they way they are going it might be easier than he thinks.

A lot of West Ham as you would expect in the City. Plus the glory hunting Chelsea fans who have never heard of Micky Droy. And the Arsenal fans unaware of Trevor Ross, or more shockingly Malcolm McDonald. Most of the other London clubs, Fulham, Spurs, QP f***ing R

We had a couple of Brentford season ticket holders but they retired pre covid. Same for the MK Dons supporter who starting going when the franchise rolled into town. We have a Newcastle supporter (now sufferingly condescending since Easter).

The most unusual I would say are the Derby and Nottingham Forest; and top prize to the Scarborough Athletic FC.

I lived in Brum for 30 years. Worked with fans of West Brom, Villa and Blues. If you think we get on badly with ***** Town you should hear Wolves and Albion. After Blues lost 8-0 I bought a Bluenose colleague some chocolates - After Eight Mints. He saw the funny side.

And now, from Ilkley, the two nearest clubs are Bradford City and Harrogate Town, but I’ve only spotted a handful of Bradford fans and I haven’t seen either of the Harrogate fans. All I see is Weeds fans, even walking in the Dales. Arrrgghhhhh

Self employed now, but my immediate team in my last job in London (but they all lived in the Home Counties) were rather depressingly Arsenal, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool. The Liverpool fan lived in Reading and was actually a steward there on match days but inexplicably still supported Liverpool. It was like being back at school again working with them lot.

Retired, but was a teacher in a primary school in Luton . Most kids followed their dads preferences ie, Chelsea, Arsenal et al +( lots of Gaelic footie and Celtic stuff)… but we had one random die hard Blackburn lad!

Strangely ( was a few years ago now) not a lot of love for their local outfit

I’ve lived in Norwich for donkeys and the vast majority support Norwich. All work colleagues do and are all level headed and rather like Watford supporters when it comes to all things football. I had a bet with 2 of them this year that we would finish above them. I feel rather embarrassed taking their money!

La gente aquí all support Camag*ey in the baseball, but there are some supporters of Santiago and a few Industriales de la habana like me.

In football, the main is Barcelona. I haven't heard or seen of many that follow English teams, although the band of loyal hornets around Central cuba is growing thanks to my influence!

Working in Southampton it’s obviously predominantly Saints fans, a few Pompey but the rest is mainly Liverpool (the Liverpool supporters do actually get to a few games as well so not just glory hunters).

The most obscure one apart from me is an Ipswich fan.

Although last season our shirt crept into the main soccer shops at an eye watering 2800 baht!

My boss is a long-suffering Baggie, lots of 'Top 6' and a chap from South Oxhey who supports QPR. The one I usually talk football with is a massive Colchester fan, with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the lower leagues, always guaranteed a good 15 minute natter with him when I should be working.

I work in a school in Welwyn, I was surprised to see that the football demographics among the kids and the teachers aren't much different to the schools I've worked at in and around Watford. A few people connected to the school play or have played for the scummers at various levels but thankfully very few fans, (our very own David James was a scummers fan growing up wasn't he?), and then of course there are quite a few Stevenage fans and players

An alarming number of people at my work aren't interested in football. For those that are, it's London clubs (the office is in central London) and also:

    Norwich
    Bristol Rovers
    AZ Alkmaar
    FC Twente

Worth noting we are Dutch owned.

I rang Virgin Media this morning to discuss downgrading or possibly removing the TV part of my package, (it was over £120 a month which I can't justify). The guy on the phone asked why and jokingly I said it's because my team just got releagated and it's not worth having Sky/BT Sports next season. He asked if I was a Watford fan and we then chatted for the next 20 minutes about Sheffield Wednesday, Premier League football, (or how sh*te it is), and past games involving our teams. He ended up giving me an awesome deal for the next 18 months on the back of it.

Not much football talk in my current office in central Switzerland: one Southend/Spurs (originally from Basildon so that makes sense), one Man U, one Strasbourg.

My Germany-based colleagues are a better source: in a workshop there this week I had a coffee break conversation with a Kaiserslautern fan who was hung over from celebrating promotion to the second tier (but was too young to remember 1983), and another one who initially pretended he was Bayern, then came clean and talked for ages about Waldhof Mannheim who are in the third tier and just missed out on promotion.

I don't know anyone who follows a Swiss club - the nearest one would be FC Luzern - although in my previous company a lot of people doubled up as supporters of local club Neuchatel Xamax and various Italian clubs (Neuchatel has a big second/third generation Italian immigrant population).

One colleagues son is a first year pro / u23 at Norwich (they’re from Uxbridge)

Another bloke used to play CB at Wealdstone in the early 70s.

We’ve blokes from all over the world as well as West London, so they’re fans of all sorts of random foreign clubs. And Man Utd
