setting them up for a fall ... I quite like it

  2. Or the press just want to fill pages with rubbish before the Cherries blow it. If they do go up, all these stories will be repeated practically word for word in the following months. To be fair, it is more of a story than "Watford go up again".

If we finish top, and 'muff finish 2nd, I won't be relying on the national press to let me know. I suspect one may get the impression that only a solitary side went up, but even that will be forgotten when the play offs come round. And you can bet that the only thing they will be interested in with regards to 'muff next season will be which top team Howe will be going to in the near future. Come to that, probably the only thing he'll be interested in too.

Any idea what position Moreso plays? I can't find him on wiki.

It did used to irritate me how little was spoken of Watford when discussing promotion to the Prem, and it's been happening all season. Now we're within touching distance of it I actually feel it's been really helpful staying under the radar. Long may it continue.

    Grant Shapps at it again?!

I'm imagining a Portuguese holding midfielder with good technical ability, a wide range of passing skills but also likes a tackle

Reckon Slav can't believe his luck with the lack of coverage we're getting. His ethos right now seems to be heads down, concentrate on the task at hand. No distractions.

The attention Bournemouth are getting reminds me of us, in the final weeks of 12/13.

You could be right. I wonder if we're not getting coverage because we're turning down interviews. It might be all part of his master plan.

Also the players seem to be very quiet on Twitter.

I think that could be a possibility, yes. As someone on another thread mentioned, the club postponed an event where fans would come and watch training. 100% focus.

Slav has the mentality of a winner. He's given that to the players; no distractions, focus and deliver.

I reckon you're probably right on that.

Also I haven't seen or heard (m)any Middlesbrough news (or non-news) items, they're probably too shrewd to allow this to interfere too.

If that's true it's ironic how the two foreign managers (SJ & Karanka) seem to have more nous about them than the so called experienced British Championship managers.

The thing with Middlesbrough is it's up north and the pony express takes a few days to get the news through to civilised society.
You'll probably get some info next week.

I was just thinking exactly the same thing this morning.

Some serious parallels between us in 12/13 and Bournemouth now. Wouldn't surprise me to see things go the same way (excluding the ridiculous double goalkeeper injury on the last day, of course).

David Prutton tips us for the title but then says "with them coming from from so far behind..." - really? Does anyone remember how far behind we were? I think we got to about double figures behind Bournemouth before Christmas but not much else. And that's with more than half the season to go. Teams have come from much further back before.

EDIT: I can't even find if we got to double figures behind. We were 6pts behind Derby after we lost the 4 in a row and 7pts behind Bournemouth when we lost on Boxing Day.

*Panto crowd* Oh no you didn't!

Unless he means this, in which he does admittedly suggest that "it’s between Norwich and Watford with Middlesbrough under a lot of pressure now".

I'll have to get in contact with Sky two games before the end of next season. I reckon I can probably manage to give a half-decent prediction then, like these guys. Not too difficult, this football punditry stuff, is it?

I'm pretty sure we've not been more than seven points behind the leaders at any given point this season.

    Colin Cooper's predictions confuse me.

He reckons Muff and Boro will take top 2, but tips us for the playoffs because "the play-offs are all about mental ability. Norwich and Watford are to two strongest teams that will be in there."

So apparently he thinks were going to win the playoffs because we're strong mentally, but somehow envisions us dropping points from our two very winnable games during in the run in despite us being strong mentally.

    Ok, then.

Actually it's true, Beagrie did say exactly that and remarkably it was in Sky's build up to the Watford Boro game ... He's got my respect for it.

Where did he say it? My mistake if he did, but until the last week or two, I hadn't seen ANY pundits tip us for automatic promotion.

In fairness Beagrie did call us for autos quite a while ago.

Live on Sky, he also repeated it after Boro beat Naarch.

I take it all back then. I must've been in the toilet (doing a Stu) at that point.

On talk sport on Monday Alan Brazil "so its Watford 1 pt clear of B'muff and Boro, so Danny who do you think will win it?
Danny Murphy,"well I can't see either of the top two dropping points in the last 2 games but for me B'muff will just shade it on goal difference "

    Really?, ffs gisss a job.

  31. Nnnn

Any Sky pundit tipping us for the autos obviously didn't receive or read the briefing email which was very clear on this matter
