All clubs sell players to their parent clubs for 3/4 times their market value and loan them back immediately. Nothing to see here.
While I have sympathy with your view, it was worse under that regime. Selling the corners of the ground, the Robinson transfer deal, etc. However regardless of whether you think one was worse than the other. I think the underlying causes were/are the same. In the eras that they operated in neither had the financial muscle to deliver the aspiration.
Absolutely agree with your second paragraph and for that reason don’t think we can say is worse than the other.
Loan against rest of parachute payments taken out apparently. Thought we'd already mortgaged ourselves up against those but maybe we'd only done one year of them before! https://twitter.com/sonicparkins/status/1623022316413132800?s=20&t=L7APnTS32YssgS-j62dStw
Yes, loans taken out against the final parachute payments up to 2025. We'll pay it all back after we get promoted this year, so nothing to worry about.
So basically if we don't go up there will be no money or it will be used trying to pay off these loans?
We took out a facility in July 22 which enabled the club to borrow against parachute monies payable up until Feb 24 -this latest mortgage now extends that period to July 24 - I guess the monies are paid in instalments so taking us to the end of next season. We all can rest easy as Duxbury has said he is “ confident “ about our debt when fronting questions from those well known financial inquisitors the Supporters Trust last October . Since then we have taken out a further 5 mortgages including this one so nothing to worry about
We really do need promotion this season, however, I do still think we'd be ok for a promotion push next season too. With the money for potential sales of Pedro & Sarr, plus a few other lower level trades, should see us net around £60/£70m. If we recruit sensibly and use the loan market wisely I think we could have a realistic stab at going up next season too. But if we don't get promoted either this or next season then I think we could be in trouble for sure.
When Duxbury said he doesn't need to worry about our finances he actually meant he doesn't give two sh!ts about our finances. As soon as the sh!t hits the fan he'll be the first one to scurry out the back door. The f*cking turd.
He's a proper coward. Gives it the big one Edwards and finances and then when Pozzo makes him look the fool, he scurries away. Wonder what his total comp is over the last decade. That said, still cracking value compared to Giaretta.
Has in recent week but don’t think he says much apart from saying there won’t be any fans forums etc any more and obviously highlighting anything positive the club do in the community.
I'm not having a go at you specifically, but am I the only one who finds these posts tedious? Even the more Pozzo friendly fans like me have never said they're the best owners in football. These comments aren't insightful, funny or interesting. I have no problem with people expressing a negative opinion about the owner, but these constant posts are boring now.
You forgot to log in as Whoosh Magnet. Seriously, soon it'll be like the good old days with Wolves finishing 7th and Leicester 8th in the Championship.
People on here have most certainly have described them as the best owners in football. Be honest, it’s the fact the crown has slipped that is tedious. I’m sure it’s harder for you to defend their actions. At least you are still around to do it, unlike the others who have slipped off into the night or spend their time saying they’ve fallen out of love with the game. But if I bore or upset you that much, and you’ve said it for years, I’m easily blocked.
How recently have people said they are the best owners in football? It's pretty clear they were bloody good from 2012 to around 20117, and have made some massive **** ups since. And the average Watford fan has adjusted their view since. It's akin to attempting to mock someone for saying Deeney is the best striker in the Championship, when they said it 9 years ago. It's really not the gotcha you think it is.
The year is 20117. Christian Kabasele is given one last 1-year contract extension. He's good to have around the squad!
Wendover has already made the claim on Twitter that 'many' clubs borrow against everything and all future income. Standard practice.
