Sema and Cleverley in the starting 11 is disappointing, are Ngakia and TDB really that bad? I don't think that anyone buys that rule of 11 bullsh*t that Giaretta is always on about, considering 3 of our 4 signings have been foreign players, and because of that we have 6 million pound goalkeeper and striker not even on the bench. Surprised with Quina on the bench.
Then don’t buy a non-HG player from a Bayat-run club BEFORE selling them. It’s obviously a deal that could have been done at a moments notice (for obvious reasons) in the days - or even hours - after selling one of the aforementioned players. I simply don’t believe that’s the premise Bayo was bought under. Money is tight and there’s very little sane reasoning for what they have done.
True but then he's had the entirity of pre season with us, so probably beneficial if/when one of them is sold. The early signs he's probably a waste of money but who knows
Sarr & Dennis will be the difference tonight. One of the only times we were able to counter attack last week we scored. We should have lots more opportunities to counter attack tonight. Our midfield is poor, I can't argue, but our front 3 can more than make up for it.
Whatever the score tonight whatever happens this season, I strongly believe that in recruitment heads should roll , money we dont have is being wasted time after time. I would like our transfers in and out to be a lot more transparent and not be like linked to Mogi (money laundering agent)?!
Aren't we meant to have a HG striker lined up if Sarr or Dennis leave? Why not sign them instead of Bayo? Oh wait I know, Uncle Mogi.
Our midfield looks very lightweight compared to West Broms. Although our three upfront should cause problems, I can see WBA winning this 2-1.
Perhaps Cleverley is being used like Mahon under Boothroyd as a Commissar, to make sure the on-field doctrine isn't deviated from.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the fact that The Hawthorns is the highest football ground in the UK. Some of our players are going to suffer from altitude sickness.
Unbelievable goal. Only a handful of players in this league could do that. Credit where it’s due there. Pure class. We are getting battered though.
Cleverley has, incredibly, got worse. Can't say I like this formation. Either get the right players for it or don't play it. Sierralta does the job of Kabs and Cathcart so why have all 3? We should be losing heavily! Miles off it.
Absolutely hopeless aside from the wonder goal. I get playing Sarr, Dennis and Pedro if it's possible, but playing 5 at the back at the same time is the kind of thing you do when you're a goal down in the 88th minute. Kayembe isn't a defensive midfielder, and Cleverley is hopeless I also hate the fact every team in this division has somebody who can throw a football like a farkin javelin
Any recruitment team with any level of experience should be able to write the following list: RWB LCB CM CM If we don't fill those positions then we will go nowhere. ...or ditch the formation.
Let’s see what our new gaffer has got about him now, because that was as one sided a game I’ve seen in years bar any time we play Man City.
Awful half. Completely outplayed. Thank god Sarr decided to t*** one in from our own half, because we’ve barely had a kick of the ball in theirs! Bachmann was quality as well. Defence and midfield all over the place. We’re being outplayed by a Steve Bruce team! Edwards needs to show his nouse now and find a way to fix this.
Cleverley and Kayembe the real stand outs. They look liked my first five a side game after COVID. Totally and utterly outclassed. Hilarious that people defend the Pozzos while they are expected to be starting options in a midfield competing for promotion while we have £10m of players not even in the squad. Take 2/3 of Sarr Dennis and Pedro out of this side and this side is mid table at best.
Does Rob honestly have the players? Who does he bring on to fix the midfield ? Gosling? Asprilla? With the squad we have put out there we have given Bruce an extremely easy puzzle to solve. Apply pressure to non - existent midfield? = Result Play ball down channel behind converted wing back when no midfield cover and no left footed centre back? = Free set pieces.
Kaba has zero urgency before crosses come in and is always caught out. This is a hard watch. I can’t believe this is our plan. No change at HT in any shape or form.
So much for meeting Dennis the dog,he might as well have played! Extraordinary goal but we're not even second in this game. Edwards needs to earn his keep here.
