"Haha, I'm not afraid of any wolves. They wouldn't dare mess with me." Roared Moog as he helped himself to a pint from behind the bar at The Horse to Water.
"Too right, just a couple of glorified Jack Russell's!" Squealed Cassettis Beard in agreement.
The pub erupted in laughter at the thought, apart from the two punters scowling in the corner.

    **********************
A few hours and many, many drinks later the sun began to set and despite all the bravado the pub quickly vacated including the buccaneering Moog and Cassettis Beard. All except the two punters who hadn't felt like laughing earlier.
The bigger punter turned to his companion, looking them dead in the eye.
"I'll take Moog, you take Cassetti."
    "Deal."
And with that, off they set into the darkness.

    ************************†****

Two howls of anguish and pain filled the night sky. Moog did not seem to notice the howls as he was too busy trying to gain access to the house in front of him. In his highly drunken state he failed to realise he was on a completely different street to where he lived.
"Bloody door, need to put some wd40 on that lock."
With an almighty shove Moog finally managed to break through the door. He landed with a heavy thud on something soft.

Moog blinked several times to try and focus in the dimly litres environ. Through his bleary eyes he looked down at his hands to see they were covered in hair, no not hair fur. Whoever lived here was malting.

A huge figure stood in the doorway blocking the moonlight into the house.
"Gerrout my ouse." Moog slurred at the beast.
The beast sniggered and stepped forward allowing the broken door to close behind him.
Moogs cries broke the deathly silence as the beast began to feast.

    Moog was good.

    *********************************

On the other side of town, Cassettis Beard decided that to liven up his walk home he will go to the local park and have a go on the swings. After all there would be no kids there at this time of night and it doesn't say that drunken adults are banned, he reasoned with himself.

He double checked to make sure he was alone before he pushed open the railing gate to the play sets.
"I'm going on the swings." He declared to nobody.
He clambered on to the highest swing and kicked himself off. He swung his legs back and forth in merry abandonment completely oblivious to the outside world, just enjoying the moment. Had he been paying attention he would have noticed the beast watching him.

Cassetti decided to do something he hadn't done since childhood and jump off the swing. He readied himself and kicked harder and faster to gain maximum height and distance. He counted down, three, two one before letting go of the swing and thrusting himself forward.

As he sailed through the air he felt invincible, nothing in the world could stop him. Nothing. He looked down and panic coursed through him. There before him stood a beast arms stretched waiting to catch him.

    "Oh sh..."

    Cassettis Beard was good.

    Morning etc.

So a wolf killed CB. Cthulhu is therefore the only confirmed good left.

    HH isn’t a wolf.

We really need a good pick from the seer today, but without the guardian, it’s going to be hard for them to forcefully argue for their pick.

We need a nice early viewing this morning please.

I decided to take the advice of some posters from yesterday and view Grrwood. I can confirm that Grrwood is evil.
That brings my views to date as Cthulhu (Good), Cassetti's Beard (Good) and now Grrwood (Evil).
We must lynch Grrwood today, their is no other option.

Ahhh not a good night for team good. Interesting first message, it is absolutely imperative we get an evil character today.

Morning all, RIP moog and CB. I have to admit my "wolf radar" has been way off, as I was getting a bit suspicious of Moog's lack of activity yesterday.
So we have another named "evil". Same style as the previous messages we now know to be from the Seer - use of bold type and incorrect use of "their". But we also know that the Wolf can easily copy the seer's style and caught us out yesterday with an early message naming a player evil and we lost our Guardian as a result of it. So we need to wait for that all-important second message.

  6. nornironhorn

    nornironhorn Administrator Staff Member

Easier for them to copy the style when it is explicitly pointed out to them before a second message is sent, assuming the first message is from the seer.

  7. nornironhorn

We need to go back and have a look at those causing confusion with the messages yesterday. To most of us, it was obvious which message was from the seer.

3 evil players will have known for sure which message was from the wolf so this would be worth a look...

  8. HappyHornet24

    HappyHornet24 Crapster Staff Member

True, sorry. But, to be honest, the use of "their" has been widely discussed previously.

  9. nornironhorn

    nornironhorn Administrator Staff Member

Yea, can't deny that but the focus on style will make the author of the second message even more aware of it if they are the wolf.

All ifs and buts, but important to consider at this point.

You're right. Will be more considered with what I write - have been so wrong with my wolf suspicions so far (both of those killed overnight were on my radar) that I don't think my stream of consciousness would be of much help at the moment anyway!

    Hi Villagers,
Last night was a bad night. We know that Cthulhu is good, and so was Cassetti's Beard.
I decided to view Nornironhorn with there name coming up a few times yesterday. I can confirm Nornironhorn is bad, we must lynch them tonight.
The wolf has named Grrwood this morning, I will view them tomorrow to confirm for everyone as until I do we just don't know if they are good or bad.
    Please lynch Nornironhorn tonight.

    Morning all.
Clearly Cassetti and Cthulhu were in the firing line, considering that they were known good and killing both would have been better for the wolves. However one of them lives but moog removed I think is merely a tactic to remove a good player. I didn't suspect moog anyway.

Yesterday I narrowed down my chief suspects to Daft Row, Grrwood and Nornironhorn, and possibly Horace or Hornetgags.

Two of my chief suspects named bad this morning, now it's time to dissect them.

So, one message has consistently used the wrong use of their.

That message has been from the seer on the first two days - why would the seer change style now?

In fact, message two uses 'there' incorrectly instead of 'their'... Would a seer really do this?

  15. HappyHornet24

    HappyHornet24 Crapster Staff Member

So either nornironhorn or grrwood it is, then. I'm out now for a couple of hours so will check in when back and no doubt feel even more confused. Need to get it right today to get the odds stacked back in favour of Team Good.

Reviewing his posts over both days, NI does seem to be fighting for team good more than the other way around. I think the alpha has got carried away with that.

So we’ve very likely (bar a ridiculously unlucky tinker) picked one evil…

    So... Grrwood or NI?

It doesn’t benefit evil to have both picks as evil (it tells the village that one is definitely evil). In my opinion, it is more likely that the first pick was a seer picking an evil character, and the alpha picked someone else as evil in response.

I also think, unless we’ve got a bad seer, that the seer wouldn’t change styles.

Therefore I'm currently thinking Grrwood. If not, then it HAS to be NI tomorrow. No ifs, no buts.

Well this isn't ideal... I know I am good so either:
    1) Message 1 is the Aplha, jumping on Otter mentioning me yesterday (possible traitor pushing people away from the wolves?)
    2) Message 1 is the Seer but I am the thinker, appearing as evil to the seer.

Obviously we dont know if there is a tinker in this game so inclined to think that message 1 is the wolf.

I am at a wedding today which isn't helpful! I will take some time when I can to put all my thoughts together.

    Agree 100%.

Seer's message on day 1: Incorrect use of their
Seer's message on day 2: Incorrect use of their

Wolf's message on day 1: No incorrect use of their
Wolf's message on day 2: No incorrect use of their

Message 1 today: Incorrect use of their
Message 2 today: No incorrect use of their

On day one, it might have been a typo by the seer, but the fact they used it again on day 2 would suggest its a pattern they want team good to see.

Neither message is clear cut. Looking deeply into the text, one could argue both message styles today are very similar which implies that the first message is the seer's, however the third day in a row we have the wrong use of "there" again, which ti be fair has been present in the seer's messages from each of the first two days, which then implies the second could be the seer's.

Nornironhorn was extremely helpful and insightful yesterday, but I wondered whether all along it was a very clever message yesterday which got a good player lynched and clearly argued for the second message being the seer's. Hiding in plain sight.

Yesterday evening I looked back at Grrwood's messages, not a single one is insightful other than regurgitating the same thoughts or being banal.

We have said that seer's messages seem to come first but a very clever wolf could have planted a nice very early message. The seer seems to have changed style a bit, which doesn't help. On balance though I think the first is slightly more likely to be the seer's than the second by 55% to 45% in my opinion.

Morning all, apologies for the lack of activity... at least we have an evil mentioned. I've always thought that comparing styles is a little diffuse. Simple shoot-out today and potentially tomorrow if we don't get evil tonight.

How? It is the first message that uses their incorrectly - this is exactly what the seer has done in the previous two days.

Cam anyone post all the messages together in this thread? Stuck on my phone and would make it easier to compare them all

My mistake, I didn't initially spot the first one as you did. Both messages use the wrong "there/their/they're" somewhere. This doesn't particularly help.

  29. Cthulhu

If we follow the their theory then the first message is the seer.

  30. nornironhorn

One message each day uses their when it shouldn't.

The wolf's message on the first two days doesn't at all.

  31. Cthulhu

    Cthulhu Keyboard Warrior Staff Member

Alternatively the wolf might have picked up on that.
It doesn’t explain then why the second message if it is the seer isn’t consistent with the their.

It’s a long intro today any clues their/there

True, but why would a seer who has done it twice, stop doing it?

Totally get that, not had much chance to be active. Not helped today either really as I'm at a wedding this afternoon! I'm sure both myself and Norn will be a bit defensive today, nothing else we can do having been named.

Great work by the Guardian last night. Due to some suspicions I have checked Norwayhornet and we are in luck - NorwayHornet is evil.

I didn't view Norway as I know both wolves know each other so at the very worst he is an unlucky traitor, unless of course the alpha is playing a brave game and naming the other wolf as evil to throw us off the scent.
Do not lynch Cthulhu or Cassetti's Beard, their both good.

To summarise, why would someone change the adjective they use? Using this it would seem that Message 1 yesterday and Message 1 today was written by the same person and they incorporated 'their' into it.
