Good preview. Good visuals. Good stats. But no architecture; have they rebuilt after ‘Threads’ ? And your best score prediction? You could influence my exceptional standing in the @Teide1 ‘s score prediction competition…lol
This is an easy one: he's called Rajovic because that was the name of his father, bestowed unto him at birth as is the custom in his, and many other, countries.
I've just been to Sheffield. Was a weekend not a Wednesday though. Not sure our soft lads will cope with all them hills. Owls 2-1 Hornets.
John Hills left SW for Blackpool on 5/7/2007 according to the internet. I don't believe they have signed another one so we should be OK.
That was the score last year and we complained about the pitch being poor and not suited to good football. Maybe a repeat of that on the cards or worse...
Hard to call this one, as most Watford vs Wednesday matches are (at least away from home), even when they're crap. They've had a disappointing start but that could be due to the team taking some time to gel with the new signings and the fact that the players from last season, while they showed near play-off form to survive (didn't have any choice), achieved a fair few of their results by working hard and grinding them out rather than with much flair. We (rightly) moan about the way our club has been run in recent years, but this one have only finished above us once since we were both relegated from the Prem in 2000 - takes some doing with a club their size, even with the amount of debt they've been saddled with much of that time.
If we were European champions and Wednesday bottom of the 4th division i'd still take a draw at Hillsborough. 1-1
I'm happy that this one is at 3 p.m. purely from an away day perspective. I hope we can improve our way form but I'm doubtful. Sheffield Wednesday play tonight. I was hoping they might have tired legs come Saturday, but it appears they have rested most of their players for the weekend's game.
Please let me know if any of you need info about where to drink pre-match. or public transport to and from the ground (soz, but no idea about parking options). The same goes if you want to eat in the city centre...
Where is good for away fans to drink? We got the tram last season from the train station and it was an evening game and didn't make it back for the train.
Hopefully their penalty shoot out defeat deflates them rather than gives confidence form taking a strong PL side to the shoot out.
The upside of our terrible away form is I now expect defeat as if it is certain. If/when we finally avoid defeat away from home I will celebrate like we've won the FA Cup. Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Hapless Hornets
We were certainly inclined towards capturing him so surprised we never stepped up with a bid. I guess we never reached the level required.
Think a point here would be decent, and considering we are away again to Swansea afterwards in a few days time, I would deffo take two points from these next two games. But I do not think a win in either is beyond us. If we can settle down early on, not go so gung-ho and play on the break with a strong defensive set up, we can frustrate them then hopefully nick one late on. I'll still cannot see us keeping a clean sheet on the road, so a point here would be alright considering our season so far. 1-1
Drink!!! If you fancy a drink in town and are coming up by train, the Howard just outside the station is away fans on matchday. Near the ground, I myself always give it a miss, but local sources tell me that the Railway on Halifax Road/Penistone Road North is 'away fans' friendly. Your best bet is Kelham Island (but not if driving; parking options are non-existent): Kelham Island Pubs & Bars - This Is Sheffield You can get the tram from the station to Shalesmoor, all venues are walkable from there, and you can then get the tram from Shalesmoor or Infirmary Road to the ground and the Leppings Lane stop.
Cheers for the info SCG. We'll be coming in to sheffield train station. How good is the super tram? Does it get really busy on matchdays, especially after the game - do you have to queue for ages to get back to the town centre/train station after the match? I was looking at maybe walking to/from town which looks like an hour which I'd be happy to do with a couple of tinnies in hand, but not sure if all my group would be up for the walk. I've been to the Howard on a work do a few years ago. Decent place. For sheffield united a year or 2 ago I ended up in a sports bar I think. Seemed pretty decent and a lot of away fans.
Good question regarding the supertram as my train leaves at 5:56 , d'oh !, and is going to be tight !.
Not going Saturday, but when we've been to Sheffield before we've drank in the Howard - nice pub and very easy for those getting back by rail.
