We have hooked the big fish. That’s the way I see this, in getting the Pozzo’s to buy the club. Duxbury and Nani were instrumental in introducing the Pozzo’s to our club, so we have a lot to thank these guys for. After the shock of Dyche, I think people will see the Pozzo’s are passionate football people with the ability to bring real success to the club. Gone are the days of administration fears, no more debts, stadium redevelopment and the real chance of seeing a team capable of promotion. Investment into the academy is also assured. Isn’t that what all of us really wants for the club? With the absence of a billionaire Watford supporter, these are probably the best possible owners we could ever have dreamed of. Their opening statement is an inspiration and I love what they have to say, within realistic boundaries. We can now all start dreaming…..
I don't post here very often, but this is spot on hb1. Owners with proven records and positive long term plans. It's way beyond anything we could have wished for :sign15:
But, but what about the way they've supposedly treated our poor, beloved Dychey? I don't care if they have a brilliant reputation/track record, they've saved us from going under and are looking to build a successful, self sustainable club for the future whilst also keeping our local values, I'm completely disillusioned with it all, the Watford I once loved is dead, if this is the price of success I don't want it bla bla bla.
Nath, I think we all know all these 'angry fans' will be there if any success comes our way chanting names of people in charge. Not giving a single **** about what happened this summer.
Lets just assume, for a second, that they didn't do it out of the goodness of their hearts. So what's in it for them? I wonder if they have a small stake each in this project as well as the jobs they've taken on?
I also think we've hooked the right fish. Money behind them, the right vision for our club and patience. Change for the better takes time, I'm sure the Pozzos understand that and hopefully the fans can look 4 or 5 years ahead, not 1.
If they're employed by the club they'll be on a nice wedge with bonuses for success; if they're not employed they'll walk away with a nice finders fee.
Does it matter what there motives were? They will probably do quite nicely out of the deal, and why not? The fact the Pozzo's own the club is all that matters. Managers, players and CEO's come and go. We now have owners that don't suffer fools lightly and will ensure Watford are as successful as possible.
I might not be the only who fears some of our moronic support getting all pissey when we're not promoted next season.
I don't blame you for having reservations about Zola replacing Dyche, I have them myself, my problem is with the way it's been incredibly overblown by some and the same people saying the sort of ridiculous things I said at the end of my last post.
First post on the site and I couldn't agree more with the opening post! Can't wait for the new season now! Looking forward to Watford's future
I have had some ridiculous interaction on twitter with pathetic supporters today. People need to see the bigger picture and possibly do some research. Then they can have an opinion.
I think you only have to look elsewhere to see how lucky we are. Chicken farmers from India. A Lithuinian who was the subject of a Europe-wide arrest warrant. (ex Portsmouth). A former Thai Prime Minister with a dodgy human rights record (exMan City). An owner who mocked his own fans for buying replica shirts (ex Newcastle) I can remember at least 3 previous owners of clubs who were later sent to prison for tax evasion or even trying to burn down one of their stands. Yet we have proper football people..who run successful clubs in two of the other big footballing nations of the world. Yes, we have certainly hooked the right fish!
Agree with this. But... Structurally I'm nigh-on certain that they're going to do the right things, but my impression is that they also expect us to immediately become serious promotion contenders. Otherwise why fire Dyche? By firing him they have raised the short term expectations. In most fans' eyes, even those who realise that we could do all the right things yet still take years to win promotion, Zola will be considered to have failed this season if he doesn't match or better Dyche's record in 2011/12.
Well said, can't really add anything to it. Feel sorry for Sean, but in some ways i'm glad they made a quick decision rather than giving him 3 months waiting for him to fail. This way the new manager (Zola?) will have the summer to gel what will probably be a very different starting 11 to the one that finished last year
The trouble with a lot of topics on this forum is they run the risk of being polarised. Everything has to be either black or white..good or bad. There can be no middle ground. But sometimes..in fact, often.. the truth is usually somewhere in between. No doubt along the way the new owners will make a few mistakes. The 'Dyche affair' might maybe have been handled better. But overall, the future looks really bright. The future's giallo
.... Be nice if there are some decent attendences and attractive, winning football. Chuck in a new shiny east stand and you're laughing. Seems only yesterday the biggest excitement round here was a pub re-opening
Waiting to see what players they bring into the club, then I will make a prediction on where we will finish. Big fish and the right fish as has already been said but also clever fish.
I totally agree. I would have liked to have seen Dyche get a chance as he deserves it after last season. But I am over the moon that we now seem to have the right owner which should hopefully secure our future at the least.
