We got to see this game after initially being refused entry (we live about 90 minutes from the ground). Thought it was a pretty good performance with Tom Dele Bashiro probably my man of the match. Bachmann was warming up before the start but came over and said to one of the high number of backroom staff that "its OK but I can still feel it". It was a shame because the reserve goalie then played and made a big howler for their goal. He didn't have anything to do after that. It was good to see us pressing more than recently and also not passing backwards all the time. First time I've seen us live this season, not counting the hive, sky etc after 50+ years with a season ticket, so difficult to compare this game to earlier this season, but back in the UK for Milwall on boxing day. Other plusses today; Nokia, Hungary, Asprilla (what a player he is going to be) and Pedro
Christ, his **** up to game ratio is off the charts. What an absolute (and financially ruinous) dud he’s turned out to be. Thanks for the match report.
This is not allowed. If a a player is repeatedly rejected by managers and then makes poor contribution when he does get a chance then it’s LOL at forum for not giving said player a chance even though Pozzo has wazzed millions up the wall. See Kalu.
That was good even if it was a typo. Nokia sounds like Ngakia only appears in flashes, which is true to some extent, and Hungary sounds like Deeney's alter-ego.
Yes as you may be aware I don't comment on here very often and didn't realise that predicted text happened! As an aside, I didn't realise until yesterday how much of an entourage Watford took to a game. (Blackpool had one bus, we had two) During the game there seemed to be as many "watford officials" milling around as there were actual footballers. One of them was at least helpful in listening to our pleas to be allowed to get in and watch the game, far more helpful than the currently injured senior member of the first team squad who when asked if he could have a word replied "nothing to do with me". Still we got in eventually and it made me realise how much I miss watching football live, rather than on the TV or hive.
The money we spent on Okoye, Kayembe, Kalu and Bayo is obscene. That's money that could have bought actual players we needed.
Teide1: No we drove down but thanks for your concern-it is appreciated but 120 miles is a bit too far to cycle for an old wreck like me!. Our issue was that we checked with several sources whether the game would be open to the public and were told it would be. As said earlier luckily one of the backroom staff got us in so it was a good day out in the end. Yes it was Tom Cleverly but maybe he has a lot to think about with his injury.
Must have been Arsenal kids .. https://mobile.twitter.com/WatfordF...5?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet
They have a lot of players at the World Cup, but that aside, there were a lot of fairly recognisable names for them today...
It was first team players in the first half, at which point we were losing (genuinely fairly unsurprisingly) and then they replaced them all with u-21s in the second (from the reporting I've read), at which point we roared back to a glorious victory.
Bachman in goal first half then Hamer and no Okoye at all might have been a factor as well given what others have posted about his performance v Blackpool in the recent friendly in Spain
Highlights from the Arsenal friendly. Looks like they dominated but we took our chances. Great assists by Pedro .
