So, in other words, he wants him out but is too scared to upset his meal ticket. Like Leventhal was.

I can sort of see where you're coming from but my conclusion would be completely different.

Bachmann's confidence is now shot to s***. One on one he does still looks the part like at the end of the 1st half versus Semedo yesterday and just now....that's it. His kicking and general distribution particularly on his left foot keeps giving very good chances to the opposition and that moment in the 1st half when he finally came out and chased a ball outside the area and thought twice about picking it up was the clearest sign that his brain is fully scrambled. Regularly picking the ball out of the Austrian net recently hasn't helped either. I do genuinely think that he could still come back from this and he could demonstrate the qualities required but he must be rested for now and hone his game afresh on the training ground. Shame, as he did deserve his chance as our number 1 last season. Preferably Foster back in as soon as he's fit. And if that means a far greater number of hoofs upfield I'd take that now over the ponderous sideways passing yesterday when Wolves were rarely pressing us as they waited for us to cough up possession which happened soon enough. Even if Foster is out then Rob Elliott for a week or two first, who is crucially Premier League experienced and unshowy.

Bachmann is SO quiet, rooted to his line and the nervousness of the rest of the defence is now palpable. Sierralta's OG was the latest result. Almost all corners and free kicks to Wolves looked likely to result in goals and they weren't especially pressuring us. It was noticeable that our defenders were taking up static positions on the 6 yard box to protect Bachmann and leaving Wolves free headers from the inside the penalty area. That it took Wolves so long to take advantage was the only surprise yesterday.

If Xisco and his coaching staff vote for loyalty and pretend this is a slight and temporary problem over the coming weeks, this could end in tears for them too. It pains me to pick on one of our players like this but the Premier is unforgiving and if we don't address this now we could regret it.

I had to mute Sam Ucko and Jacob Culshaw, they won't be critical of any player who's been on their podcast (Bachmann was on in preseason) and ask vacuous suck up questions...woe betide anyone who criticises Deeney...you'll have to give them ice cream and toys to stop them crying.

Said it before and I'll say it again: they are a PR wing of the club - there's absolutely no way in the world whatsoever that bunch of spotty teens with literally nothing to say get the access to players they do by asking nicely. Add that to the relentless gaslighting levels of performative positivity and the fact that Culshaw was in the phucking kit reveal video, for god's sake, and it all together can only add up to four.

Messers Mooney and Leventhal are club cheerleaders too. It’s understandable in Mooney’s case as he is employed by the club, but I’m not sure what AL’s excuse is.

For me, people who are constantly positive are as bad as people who are constantly negative. There is no value in what they say as it has no balance.

You have to give honest opinions of how it is. Not to spin it in such a way to distort it. It fools only the casual fan or the simple minded.

It’s fairly pointless in AL’s case as well, he has access to the club but only because he’s their mouthpiece and he won’t say anything they don’t want him to. What’s the point in having the access if you can’t do anything with it? Or if indeed you’re just fed stuff they want us to know anyway?

I think I read somewhere Marriappa was his inside man previously? From a journalistic/integrity point of view surely he’d be better off finding himself another mole and just reporting what he actually presumably wants to report? Which is presumably the truth, not sanitised and filtered information fed to him by the club.

Very poor, low quality game. Wolves were pretty much as rubbish as we were, but created better chances, so fair play.

It's time to drop Bachmann. He is not a Premier League level goalkeeper. He doesn't manage his penalty area at all, isn't vocal and the communication with his defence is non-existent. I also wonder if he's got rocks in his boots as he seems to be permanently stuck to his line. Foster in next week please.

The midfield three was far too negative/safe for me too, absolutely no creativity in there. I would be tempted to drop Kucka next week and either bring in Clevs for his dynamism or Turfan, to see what he's about. Kucka looked fired up vs Villa, but the game passed him by yesterday. Sissoko will turn out to be a very good signing in time. He had some nice touches and looks very comfortable on the ball, so just a case of getting him 100% fit and up to speed now.

Sarr was a strange one yesterday. I felt he had the beating of their left back (Marcal I think?) but didn't really seem interested in beating him for pace, and everything seemed to slow down completely when the ball went out wide to him - I wonder if this was because of the lack of bodies busting a gut to get into the box, though.

Huge game next week. I hope Xisco is brave enough to make changes as 2-3 players have definitely run out of chances in my opinion.

The Observer couldn't be arsed to send a reporter to the Vic to watch and produce a live match report for their compulsory missive for all Premier League fixtures. Instead it was some work experience intern cobbling together some feeble PA Media quote unquote, non-match commentary, with no analysis or opinion expressed. The big clubs don't get treated like this. We are officially 'tinpot'.

Well, he is a big man without very much experience at top level; and as such can be beaten on the ground by skilled, fast smaller men. Part of the problem is that some Watford supporters are seemingly imbuing him with magical powers. He is a good player and his strengths are in the air and his, er, strength.

I agree with all of that apart from him not being vocal, he is very vocal but that is part of the problem. You can hear him shout ‘AWAY’ every time a ball comes into the box, but that’s a big part of the issue because he essentially immediately delegates responsibility for any ball into the box to the defenders, and makes it clear he won’t be coming for the ball under any circumstances. Has anyone ever heard him shout ‘MINE’ or ‘KEEPERS’?

I too just watched the extended highlights. Fair play to the editor as he made us look quite good.

We were generally off it though throughout the game, overrun for the first 15 minutes before gradually clawing our way back into it. It was quite even by half time. Second half started in much the same way, until the strange substitution on 52 minutes. At the time I thought King must have been injured. Ok, he wasn't having a great game, but he wasn't bad enough to take off, especially as he is the only real central striker we had on the day. The game changed after that and momentum swung Wolves' way. I cannot understand Xisco's rationale for that tactical switch and decisions like that, will give the board a much easier task of making their decision over his future.

Before the goal, I remember thinking it's only a matter of time before they score, as Wolves were so on top. But the goal they did get was so preventable and totally down to Bachmann's reluctance to come for a routine cross. As the ball was crossed, his starting position was ok, but then he decides to take a step backwards. If that's Foster, he comes and catches. There was no one in his way, only our own players, so there was no risk in coming for the ball. I doubt that cross would have caused problems to any other team in the Premier League. I'm really surprised the players take it on the chin. Sierralta not once looked at Bachmann as if to say that's your ball to deal with. He needs to be pulled up on it, and I saw no sign that players are encouraging him to do so.

All that will happen, is teams will cross the ball closer to the keeper, in the knowledge he'll stay on his line. It's so hard to defend a cross without a keeper taking an active part. So, we find ourselves 1-0 down needlessly. Bachmann has now cost us two games, back-to-back with basic errors. At times, he looks like an outfield player that's gone in goal, like when a keeper got injured in the old days. This part of his game is so bad, and it's costing us big time. It's a shame, as before that he made two great saves and they were top class, but it means nothing if you dolly in goals in another way.

Once we're behind, the writing was on the wall. We were not playing well enough to force the game. The only way we were going to score is through a bit of brilliance from someone or a mistake from Wolves. Watford are far too passive this season. That Villa game seems like a world away now.

Lots to ponder over, and lots to improve on, but I think there are too many issues to resolve to ensure a quick fix. The Premier League will not wait for Watford to sort themselves out.

Got to start Dennis through the middle against Norwich with King wide and go back to a 4-3-3. Show some intensity and balls in our attacking play. Two thoroughly winnable games coming up, dare I say it already but must win games.

While there is no law that states players 'must put a name on it' , by shouting 'mine' the ref might consider that Bachmann was attempting to get an opponent to leave the ball for him and award an indirect free kick against us and show Bachmann a yellow card.
