Certainly a game where I would blood a couple of youngsters, but wouldnt go all out with a 2nd team. MY feeling is that we are still not working as a unit up front and more match practise is required. I would use first team players unless they had no quality backup, just incase of injury. Rest King, Young Foster and Francis. (Smith cup tied) Play Priskin Macnamee Spring Lee BangBang
Think Lee did well against Manure and Inter when I saw him. Certainly deserves the run out. We need to keep him sweet if we can't secure Foster permanently.
To be honest, though i would love it i think we would be hard pushed to get Foster on a permament basis given that he is defenitely a future england number 1 keeper and ferguson knows this, I feel that on his return to Manure at the end of the season it wont be long before he is Fergies second choice keeper... he has amazing talent s he once again showed on saturday.. and now more than ever fergie will get to see that.
After this season he only has a year left on his contract? Go to Manure for big bucks but likely to be 2nd choice or Sign for Watford for less cash but hopefully confirmed premiership team, good atmos, 1st choice keeper which will raise profile and improve England chance? Whilst I dont think he would come cheap, I'm not certain securing him permanently is too outrageous a suggestion.
Sky Sports News has just said that the majority of the starting XI from the Villa game will be rested on Tuesday.
thats good, the majority of the starting 11 on saturday are likely to be the players aidy will use for the season so makes sense to rest them for what should be an easy game. That said though it might be an idea to use henderson on tuesday to get him working on his game, i think he has a long way to go to keep his starting spot, or at least thats how it seems to me, with Bouazza and Priskin itching to get in i think he is the most likely candidate to lose his spot.
Bang bang all the way for me too. Have any of you seen the website set up for him by some comedians. Very funny.
whilst looking at big als site i came across this, its a donwload that has Big als first goal, and what a swet goal, gave us a 2-2 draw too! http://avdownload.premiumtv.co.uk:8129/video/03_2006/30342_hi.wmv enjoy!!
Watford (from): Lee, Chamberlain, Loach, Chambers, DeMerit, Mariappa, Osborne, Shittu, Kamara, Gill, Spring, Bangura, McNamee, Blizzard, Diagouraga, Mahon, Jarrett, Priskin, Seanla, Henderson, Bouazza. From BBC website
is he treating it like a reserve game??? and why so many? he can still only have 16 named surely! 11 starters and 5 subs
I think that could be a mistake to treat it so lightly, not that i dont think we will win but stanley are on fire this season, won 2 games last week i hope he doesnt go into the game thinking it will be a walkover.
To be fair, whilst it will be a little embarrasing loosing to AS with a squad our size, really we do not need a cup run.
no we dont.. but if we played to our strengths there is nothing to say we couldnt win it and get a backdoor into europe next season, plus the money would be handy
Well that was nearly embarrassing!!! I was watching sky and it was obvious from the person watching the game that it was poor to say the least, 0-0 going to penalties against a side that has never been in the comp before this season and never played prem opposition and by all accounts no sign of any decent play from us whatsoever!!! Lets hope Aidy learns from that and doesnt take chances like that again!! What did you who were unlucky enough to go think... i say unlucky because it was by all accounts a bore draw in every sense of the word!! (It hurts to say that about Watford but that was certainly how it was portrayed!)
The only joy I can gain from that performance is the fact that I predicted a draw after normal time. :'( 3 counties made some valid comments, The second string played, they should be looking to impress and fighting for a first team place. It looked like no-one was doing that. However they can be very narrow minded sometimes I'd be interested to know from the people that watched it what they thought and how our nearly men performed? Lee BangBang Springey MacNamee Priskin.
By all accounts Priskin wasnt that good and bang bang was stretchered off... hope its not too bad. the site said the injury looked a serious one!! fingers crossed for big al, hope for good news on that tomorrow!
I remember watching a match last season when BangBang was completely poleaxed mid air. He landed on his head and was stretchered off looked very nasty the whole of the Rookery fell silent (thought I was in the Rouse for a moment ;D). He was able to play the next game though. He is a solid lump of muscle that bloke, so I'm sure he'll be OK.
