I remember when at school eagerly waiting to see the WFC pages on a Friday and then peeling off the 2 front/back pages each week to make a huge season long Wobby which just included the 2 footy pages from every week. 1978 to about mid 90s are somewhere in the attic. I can still remember lots of the headlines like the "WOW!" when we signed Steve Sims for £200k!
Funny comments on there . Some posters the last few weeks complaining about the style of football and team selection etc but now Cleverley has gone there is a lot of outrage.
I don’t know much more, that’s true! But I’m genuinely reporting the market moves because (a) you don’t often get so many odds-on shots in so little time, (b) not everyone looks at/understands the markets, (c) there’s not much else going on and (d) it highlights how these sort of markets are guesswork. Don’t really see it as clickbait as it’s quite obvious what the story is, and we’re not attempting to pretend we know who has (or hasn’t) got the job. Sorry if you feel it is - as with anything, if in doubt don’t click on it!
Presume the delay is just Gino haggling with the Wobby over compensation for your services. Which formation do you prefer ?
No problem. I wasn’t sure if you kind of had to report the on going situation day by day to keep people reading and reacting (although get the feeling a lot couldn’t really care less who takes over ) and then the readers lap it all up . Does seem very un Pozxo like to not have made an appointment- maybe the ones he wanted don’t fancy the job or want certain conditions in the role ?
I gave up trying to second guess the owner quite a few head coaches ago… As for the stories, the betting market really is the only thing happening - and as we make it clear the story is about the market (and not us claiming to know who the new man is) I’m comfortable. Read them or not - everyone has a choice!
I'm no expert but it looks like the odds of wfc4ever reading any more of those articles are drifting by the minute...
@AFWO sad to hear you are leaving the observer. I found your reporting insightful and reassuring particularly when the club is going through such a turbulent period. on the plus side have you considered taking up a position at wfcforums as ‘chief-insider’? We have been looking for someone since burnsy had a meltdown.
Seconded. I’d struggled with the WO material for a few years prior to AF’s return, and whilst obviously understanding the rationale behind the departure, it’s a shame to see him depart. It can’t be easy reporting on a club that seems hellbent on stonewalling at times.
The only really quality thing about the WO. Fitting successor to Oli Phillips tradition. He'll be missed.
