I hope Troy is on the benches with the coaches to do some motivational bawling if required. Unless that's against football etiquette* of course.

    * if there is such a thing

...and a large medal for those of us (about 40) who were at the Feethams to see Darlington beat us 1-0 and send us to the bottom of Div. 4 in 1975.

7th January 1997 in the Associate Members Cup. It snowed and the snow was blowing into the old Main Stand to where I had retreated (as many of the huge 2,298 "crowd" did). Perishing.

But the prize for my coldest match was at a half finished St James Park in November 1990 where Gary Porter missed a first half penalty and Micky Quinn (yes, him) scored a late winner for the Magpies. The great and Loyal Toon Army measured 13,500 or so. If I remember correctly, we stood in the Leazes End which had been demolished and was being rebuilt and there was nothing between us and the North Sea to break the cruel wind.

Incidentally that game was notable as being the last game before both managers were sacked - Ardiles for them and Colin Lee for us. Can't be many games when that has happened.

Can't see either Espirito Sancto or Javi receiving that treatment tomorrow.

Wolves have been pretty crap on the road lately, with NES storming out of that press conference due to a journo asking about the away form.

Hopefully that terrible away form continues.

Good job we won't be playing Torquay any time soon - I remember that FA Cup game when GNW scored a minute into extra time and the snowy football league trophy clash.

    Think Robert Page scored.

Sure the old BSD site has a report....

Playing a team 3 times in a season is a reasonably rare event, but when it does the third match is often a disappointment in terms of entertainment. These two are decent coaches and will know plenty about each other. If Nuno makes the same mistakes as last time I'll revise my opinion of him downwards.
The flow, the spirit, the form are with Wolves, not us; we have been playing haltingly and look jaded, maybe carrying some injuries. That could change though.
No Troy will make them bolder, I fear. I actually think that, when oppo supporters start going on about how much they hate him, it is really because they fear him a bit.
A close, tense meeting I think, but a goal here or there either way could change all that.

Is that correct? None is not singular and them implies plural.

I was taught that none had to be singular (being short for Not one).

There's some chatter online about none now being single/plural fluid!

    One for grammar VAR.

From memory, we've got a good record of playing teams 3 times:

    1999 - Bolton Wanderers
    2016 - Newcastle United
    2019 - Crystal Palarse

That's just from memory...I'm sure someone will correct me.

‘Not one’ as in ‘not (even) one’, meaning ‘not any’, so can be either.

Yes I really don't know this one.
However your explanation that it means "not one" means it is not one so cannot be singular. :)

Excited. This is a big game, I will not be there but I hope there is a big sustained atmosphere tomorrow because it really does seem to keep us at it in big games. Worry about the lack of Troy occupying the centre halves but am thinking 2 - 0 'orns. Success and Booby P as they quadruple mark Gerry D every time he is within 20 yards of the ball. Mad Greek hopefully back to marshall Doherty.

Coldest game I can remember 1997 (?) away at West Brom. Massive open terrace with about 100 of us on it, fecking bitter wind. Seem to recall the Penguin syndrome were we huddled together and natural selection meant we all took turns on the outer circle as you returned from a p1ss or tea run. And got spanked 4 - 1, Jason Soloman worldie the only redeeming thing of the day, even that really brought no happiness to brave few.

I went to an evening Barnsley v Watford game in the 90s. Sky TV cameras were there, and they had a large thermometer stuck in the ground at the side of the pitch. it was -8 degrees. The concourse was open to the elements too. The coldest I have EVER been at a football game. Fincham was coming out with pithy one-liners. Is he still of this parish?

    Hahaha!!!

Whilst I wouldn't swap today for yesteryear, I do miss the familiarity of just a few hundred of us at away games. My attendances obviously tended to be South Yorkshire/East Midlands (plastic supporter etc.). I remember a posse I got to know over the years who would always be in whatever the best real ale pub was in the given town/city. Would they all have been Moog?

the team will be pretty much this one I imagine.

Foster, Holebas, Cathcart, Mariappa, Femenia, Pereyra, Capoue, Doucoure, Hughes, Delefeou, Gray

    prediction: 2-1

Who is going to do a game-losing blunder in the first 5 minutes this time?

If Kabasele is playing then clearly it be him, Im going for the double whammy, pen and red card . Unjust of course, which will lead to Kaba doing his hurt toddler face at the ref.

If not Kabasele, then Im going for Kiko heading it back to Foster who is too far off his line and loops over his head.....in the 4th minute.

    Newcastle
    Wolves
    Palace
and a brownie point for the first person to name the 4th team which actually has its own quiz question attached!

Start Gray and Success up front.

Having Deulofeu on the bench will be enough to scare them to death.

I suspect I will be quite drunk tomorrow, and thus singing along to any song anyone starts within earshot. Apologies if I offended anyone (apart from those people I don’t mind offending)

Brighton away this season was bl00dy freezing, and I was quite chilly at wemberlee for the Emirates FA Cup semi final to be honest

Coldest game I can remember being at was away to Gillingham on a boxing day.

I can't remember what year it was or even what the score was but I think it might have been 0 -0. We were sitting on a temporary stand that was made from scaffolding poles and my son managed to pull a muscle simply by moving his leg.

    It was bloody freezing

You would think no if they were all in same room at the same time, however, with Moog anything is possible, and I should know ;)

Lionel you are correct, with the added bonus of three games at three different grounds!

Wouldn't mind using Cleverley like Silva did for this, letting him harass high up the pitch behind Gray. Holebas needs to start but Masina has shown he's more than a capable back up.

Must be a bit late in the day for you to read the question correctly as Bolton Bas wanderers is not what I was looking for!
