That’s what I thought but there’s conflicting reports that he has another year left (and potentially an extension on top if targets are met). Given how big his gob is, I think we’d have heard him putting himself in the shop window by now if his deal was up in a few months.
Only caveat being I'm pretty sure Zinckernagel had strayed offside. In the PL I'm sure VAR would have picked up on it - it was pretty sloppy from him tbh. I was surprised the lino didn't flag, though by that point they probably cared about the match as little as the City defenders.
That’s what he should be - but do you honestly think that’ll be the case? Whenever he’s been fully fit (!) this season, he’s been in the starting XI. I don’t think Xisco has the power to drop him. And I don’t think the penny will have dropped either that that’s what needs to happen. I suspect he’ll be back to starting games as soon as he’s supposedly fit.
Fair point but it was still a great move which resulted in a tap in from a counter attack which , as you know, is the holy grail in goalscoring !
This was posted on City's forum about 25 mins into the game Take out the freak own goal and stupid back pass we're doing OK 5 mins later Oh and the wicked deflection All football Fans are deluded!

A 5 year deal as coach, captain, spokesman, talisman and all round face of the club would be a statement of intent.
Not including the renaming of the club and the ousting of the GT statue for a Deeney one suggests to me you’re not seriously on board with the idea.
When you quoted it out of context I thought it was some bizarre autocorrection I'd missed. "Moog, stop trying to make Trondre happen. It's not going to happen." Gozzers is happening for sure though. And Laser Lazaar.
This will happen whether we can fight off the big boys and secure his services for a new term or not.
Trondre sounds too much like a really nice French skiing resort where all the lodges have log fires and hot tubs. Someone said 'Dorg' on the shoutbox yesterday. I prefer this. I'm not backing it yet but feel it's a runner.
I'm no smoker but I'd have thought the wind would ignite the cigar by supply more fresh oxygen, a bit like you blow on a bonfire to get it going. I can't take Perry Groves seriously as a pundit now. Clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.
I can confirm this is indeed one to watch. No idea what the original post hypothesized but it could indeed go either way.
With games in Tuesday and Friday I'd be surprised if he doesn't rotate a little/lot. He won't play the same starting 11 three times in 6 days surely ?
I don’t understand the selection politics going on if it is indeed true that the club are allowing Deeney to run the show. Probably the way our club is being run is not too dissimilar to how many Italian clubs are, but if the likes of Juventus, Milan and Inter were going for the scudetto, the powers that be would surely approve of dropping a player who may have been a great club servant but is well past his prime, or even leaving him out of the line-up altogether for the rest of the season if he was holding the team back. If a manager ironically gets sacked because results have suffered from his picking Deeney too much, then it surely means the board have hoisted themselves on their own petard because not only will it have cost them a place in the Prem (as with last season) or promotion, they will also have to look for yet another manager no?
Christ - even when he’s not on the pitch, somehow Troy becomes a big part of the success of a win! Masina's comments about Troy telling them they needed to play better - no **** Sherlock! How is this news!? Why do the players / club feel the need to pamper to him constantly! If anything it’s now become a negative because it pisses large sections of the fan base off! Start of the season when Troy returned to the team, he was barely mentioned for a few weeks and for me it was his best performances and the teams best of a poor selection of performances. But then out can the Troy Deeney show. I blame the club as much as Troy, why they feel the need to keep doing this is beyond me. That one pass he did to Sarr, which he mentioned after the game (embarrassing) and then Sarr praises him for and becomes the main headline - A PASS! It wasn’t even that good! FFS just let it go! I’ve been hoping for a 2 seasons now this Troy Deeney show ends as it’s run it’s course! Sorry - this is post 1,327,967 on the subject and discussing has become as boring as the show itself but that’s really wound me up reading that this morning! How about Masina take his head out of Troy’s backside and have a look around the dressing room of the talented players that actually played to win that game so convincingly yesterday!
Ben Foster said they had a big team meeting probably led by the senior players about how they all needed to improve and get stuck in better etc . Guess that is what Masina was referring to ?
If Munoz brings back Deeney he needs his head examined. IF we are rotating, then Perica should replace Pedro not Deeney or that other *****.
And there's no problem with that, or indeed Deeney leading it as a club captain, as long as started it with an apology for his own performances and for consistently letting the team down through his own lack of fitness/effort in recent weeks.
Looking at the celebration after the Hughes goal, they all went mad and lifted him up like Rafiki presenting Simba. He's the captain now.
The ‘clear the air and encourage each other meeting’ is quite telling. The best players we have at the club are young lads, and the game has moved on dramatically in the last 5 or 10 years. A few years back maximum effort was the minimum requirement and if that wasn’t happening then you’d get a bollocking from teammates, managers and fans. Those days have gone now and the younger players can’t cope with the old school bollocking - they sulk and go into their shells. Clubs and older players need to adapt their methods to accommodate that. Sarr yesterday was incredible, in fact they all were, and that comes in the same week they’ve had a cuddle and some encouragement.
You seem to be oblivious to the fact that Deeney, the player you jump to defend more than anyone else on this forum, is the biggest sulker of the lot. He is the Captain, for heaven's sake!
I was talking about the best players at the club which are the young lads as I mentioned. I don’t consider Deeney to be one of the best players at the club or one of the young lads, but each to their own,
