He's essentially contracted to Brondby for a year. I think we have an option to end the loan early, which we can exercise during the January window, but there's no halfway house I'm aware of.
Yes, that was a nailed on ACL injury for any decent footballer but, of course, our loveable Ivorian bounced straight back up into the arms of his adoring fans with a huge grin on his face. Where's the justice in the world?!
I think some squad players could possibly leave to make room/budget for incomings. Sema is on a fair old whack of wages, I suspect Sierralta is coming to an end of his time here and maybe even someone like Ince could go. Jebbison likely to go back too.
If we remain in the Championship, and continue to scout poorly in the striking department, it wouldn’t shock me if Bayo is loaned back next season.
I'll pay his train or flight back to Bournemouth on January the 1st at 00:01am. No love loss here, or with anyone else. Sounds a bit harsh perhaps but he has done less than nothing to convince anyone he's been worth the fee.
No problem - Heathrow or Lootown to Geneva, then Geneva to Bournemouth. (Strictly speaking not Watford, but near enough.)
Hard to see how we get anyone to match Sema wages - the guy is shot. And with Ince again we don’t help ourselves with a needless contract extension. This behaviour continually reduces our flexibility in managing our squad.
He’s been on the pitch but not sure he has actually played for us, so he should be fine to play for them.
I'm not saying we shouldn't look to add, I was just saying the player Lubaduck is ideally looking for won't be easy to get hold of in January.
I don't know if Sema is shot, I think it's more likely we just got better players in that position now. He's only got 6 month on his contract, it won't be hard to get rid of him financially if that is what the club wants (he's only just turned 31). My understanding with Ince was he signed an extension on reduced money (an extra year on less pay basically). I can see the logic behind it, but I guess time will tell if it's a good deal. Sierralta is 27 and coming up to his prime years so I think we could sill get a decent fee for him if we sold (he was mentioned in burnsy's post which you were replying to)
Some good points made. When we have not been playing well we have tended to hoof the ball up to him with his back to goal and noone within 10 yards of him a fair bit. That's not really his strength as the ball tends to not stick. As a central forward with 2 out wide able to cross, him facing the goal, and the team playing well overall, like yesterday, he showed a bit more of what he can do.
Quite enjoying the heady feeling of being around the 26th best team in England. We really are that awesome.
It's probably an exercise in not having to splash out on a new signing, just extend the ones we already have. Is it cheaper? Don't know, but I would think a player Ince who we got for peanuts considering the cost of some players' would of made sense to extend it over getting rid of him. Ngakia, well if he can stay fit and replicate the sort of performance he did yesterday on a semi-consistent basis than I'd be happy for him to stay. Thankfully Sema is in his final contract year and unless Gino is totally mad, he will probably find a way to either loan him to Udinese and only pay x-amount of his wages to lesson the blow, or we release him on a free.
Good news Sema contract is expiring thought it was 2026. Big wages off the book and a poor player these days. On Ince he will still be getting more over the 3 years than he was over 2 years. I think that exercise shows just how much Pozzo had damaged our cash flow with his ownership. I would be amazed if another club put up a decent fee for Sierralta but let’s see. Another player who has survived in the squad because nobody wants him in my view. Some players have really stepped up this year. These 3 we need to get rid of to free up funds to progress further next year.
It will be hard for the club to move Sema on in January should they wish - 6 months on his deal or not, he’s on the best part of 30k a week and he’s still going to want that money whether it’s from us or someone else. Sierralta ‘coming into his prime’ due to his age alone is pretty irrelevant when his ability is so poor. He’s been terrible for a long old while now and we should also remember he’d barely played any senior football when we signed him, despite his age. He’s just not very good.
I have no doubt you have your sources Burnsy, but I have been told a figure nowhere near 30k a week so I would dispute that for Sema. I don't think Sierralta is poor, just not really suited for the hustle and bustle of the championship. Subsequently, I wouldn't be adverse to him leaving, but i don't think he is a bad player either.
You can dispute it, that’s fine. I’m very confident in my reporting of the number, I’ll say that. I would definitely dispute that Sierralta isn’t poor though. He’s got a number of yellow cards this season and all because he is slow and can’t tackle. Those are two very fundamental flaws for a CB.
Being picky, I think he said our realistic ambition should be to establish ourselves as a top 30 club (pace @Relegation Certs).
I remember a lot of fuss when Sierralta wasn’t picked in the last PL season after being excellent under Munoz in the COVID season . Sierralta certainly is a bit slow and struggled with injuries and being booked so much . I presume Sema is the same - had too many spells out injured now .
Oh yes - only spent 2 seasons outside the top 2 divisions since the 70s and probably spent most of that time out of any real relegation trouble to from the Championship bar the odd season in the 90s and mid 00s.
