Since most of us are still recovering from the shock of the "Troost Show" yesterday afternoon, I will keep this brief. It's the Christmas fixtures now and the games come thick and fast. This game is going to be dead rubber - we know that. Chelsea are going to dominate this game from start to finish and we may as well forfeit and hand Chelsea three points and only take a -3 hit to our GD. Cathcart and Troost will have to be on exceptional form to keep out the best side in the league at the moment. Regardless of their draw against Man United last night, they are still a very good side - and will see us as the perfect chance to grab another three points and cement their place as the leaders. Last time we played Chelsea at the Vic, we only narrowly lost 2-1, with Delafoo scoring a late consolation. If we can keep the score down to just the two this time, it would be seen as a morale victory. Without Dennis as well, our attack is blunted. King is capable, and we do have Pedro and Cucho for the goals, but their defense is going to be much more tight than Man Utd's was. Look at happened to Norwich when they tried to attack - they got demolished. It's not unthinkable we win - but I think yesterday showed us that when our best players are out, we are so easy to pick off. I say let's chuck attack in the bin and try to hold out for a draw. Considering who we have next up, it might be a viable idea. Gracia's first home game was quite the shock. My prediction: Watford 1 Chelsea 3
Seven points from the seven games in December would be a decent return and mean that we remain on course for the one point per game survival target.
Well I do not think anyone enjoyed yesterday's filling... probably won't like Wednesday's and almost certainly will gag on the Man City one.
It depends on who is able to play. Injury crisis at the worst possible time. No Foster, Sarr, Nkoulou, Sierralta. New knocks for Masina and Dennis. The next two games would be extremely tough for us with everyone fit. Without these players, the task will be impossible. We've got to somehow get through the net two games keeping the damage to a minimal. We cannot afford a couple of back-to-back 6-0 defeats. Get these games out of the way. Keep the scores down, and it's all about going to Burnley with full focus on winning. That is where our survival battle starts.
Bachmann Kiko Cathcart Kabasele Masina Rose Cleverley Louza Sissoko Pedro King Elliot, Ngakia, WTE, Morris, Tufan, Gosling, Cucho, Fletch, Pochettino. Watford 0 - 6 Chelsea 'Orns!
A real "Must not lose by double-digits" 7 pointer. A chance for our reserves like Bach, Fletch and Gosling to really shine and show our strength in depth and what we've been missing. Who needs Foster, Sierralta, Nkoulou, Etebo, Sarr, Dennis, Kucka, Kaba etc ? Watford, doesn't really matter, Chelsea, considerably more. Come on Watford.
Having gone to Leicester and watched the WTE and Bachmann disaster-fest, I have a huge sense of dread.
More worried about Man City game to be honest. Think Chelsea will probably arrive, do a professional job and leave with a 0-2 win.
I remember, when we weren't so **** When we had a defence that had some braincells Gino and Scott the hypocrites Telling us the defence has some depth Good players we've had, oh Good players we've lost Along the way Ay In this great future, you must forget the past So, dry your tears I say No Dennis, no hope No Dennis, no hope Ere little Hornet, don't shed no tear No Dennis, no hope
I think we may go three at the back. It probably won’t work any better than against Liverpool, but I have a feeling Claudio will try it again.
Not really, we'll lose vs Chelsea and City regardless. The key thing will be if they're back for Brentford which is still almost 2 weeks away.
That would be silly if it involves having to play WTE again, which would probably be the case unless both Nkoulou and Sierralta recover. We also looked more solid with a 4 vs Pool, albeit they'd taken their foot off the gas by then.
I disagree. Not about losing, but about how we lose. If we go into these matches with virtually all our top players missing it could get very messy. We can still play well and gain confidence in defeat. But lose both 6-0, or similar, that can be really damaging to morale and belief.
Not necessarily - the match after we lost 5-0 to Liverpool we then spanked Everton 5-2. So maybe if we lost 6-0 to City we'd then go on to spank Brentford 6-3.
But Marriappa no longer in the team. I notice he was involved with every one of those goals - the celebrations, that is.
This is where the defence prove everyone wrong, and put in a Franco Baresi type defence display. Chelski become frustrated that they can barely get near the goal never mind score, and start committing too many players forward, and eventually we catch them on the break. 1-0
Remember when city fielded a weaker side against muff, well now’s our big chance to play the kids v Chelsea and save our superstars for Saturday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm going to head off into a very long moist dark cave with no access to the harsh realities of the outside world and I'm not going to come out until Sunday morning to survey the damage...
We've got two hopes. No hope and Bob Hope. We'd be hard pressed to get anything even with everyone fit given the state of the defence but with the injury list as it is the best thing is to minimize the damage to the GD. Could be crucial at seasons end.
I think we can get something out this, unfortunately I think it’s getting smashed However before the last game I predicted losing to Leicester beating Chelsea and then getting stuffed by Man City , so im sticking to that 6:0 to us with Bachman being the first ever goal keeper to score a hat-trick in the PL 1st goal, fluke kick from Bachman bounces over their GK 2nd free kick , gust of wind everybody is stunned 3rd 90th min corner , CR70 tells him to get the **** up the pitch and he scores with a diving header
