That’s not really my point. If someone hits the ball at me square in the face and it rebounds into the pathway of someone and they smash it in, I get an assist. It’s a nonsense statistic and doesn’t measure creativity
Yep. You can also shank a shot or hammer a clearance up the pitch and get one. Meanwhile turn a defender inside out and get hacked down for a penalty and you don’t.
Agreed with the general point, although according to some stats keepers, you do get an assist for winning a penalty (which opens up its own can of worms tbf!)
And, erm, hypothetically like, where do we get to try out this scenario? Just for scientific purposes of course. To test the theory and all that…
I liked Pererya, but towards the end of his spell he became such a misery, more into his hair than his football.
What makes me often wonder is who on the forum are these kids/guys? Because I bet they are definitely all on here.
I’d imagine the Foster thread would provide some clues. Basically anybody who defends him should have suspicious glances cast their way.
Either I’m confusing you with another member for which I apologise, or you have lost your memory haha!
I’m sorry you had to find out this way. But it really shows the efforts the NHS will go to pass on important diagnosis news these days.
That maybe true but over a period of 150+ games, as a winger you would expect more goals and assists than he gets. All stats can be taken in different ways apart from goals obviously
Thanks HB1, I found that lengthy dissection of our defensive frailties quite illuminating. What surprised me was that WTE didn't feature in your analysis until the 22 min point. I guess that probably speaks volumes about his abject positional play and lack of anticipation, that he was not involved because he had gone AWOL! I thought at the time we should have been around 3 down midway through the first half but in truth 0-5 was what our defending had offered as a minimum. Away to Man City in the relegation season under QSF I still find it staggering that we had shipped 5 by the 19th minute but Saturday should have set us up for a double figures drubbing by the end. Ranieri obviously tweaked things at HT sufficiently to solve enough defensively to allow us to compete 2nd half. He's both clever - given the presence of Rose, WTE and Cathcart for the vast majority of that match - and as importantly very lucky too. Long may that continue!
Anyone see that young kid in the LGT wearing a City kit with a can I have your shirt sign? Hope he got a good shoeing.
If only 1970s Woody Allen was allowed to manage Citeh. Press conferences full of angst and paranoia, then they would hand over to the New York film director.
Sorry to bring this up, but the whole what a player 'costs' is a complete misnomer as often it's the cost of the wages/bonuses for the term of the contract, the whole package, not just the alleged transfer fee. Alen Boksic signed for Boro on a free in 2000/2001 and was hailed as a bargain despite the fact he only played every other week and was allegedly on 65,000 quid a week, which for then, made him the highest payed player in English football. Yes, Boro liked to splash the cash for no apparent rewards. Agreed King has been good and looks the part but he is also probably one of the highest earners, if not the highest, currently at the club.
