Games going down in history whatever the result. OFFICIAL: Jarred Gillett will become the first overseas official to referee a Premier League match. He will take charge of Watford vs. Newcastle on Saturday. Australian Jarred Gillett has averaged 3.4 cards per game in his 56 Championship games over the last four seasons: 183 yellow 5 red
That red and yellow chart reminded me of the streamer cannons the 1881 fired in the rookery a few years ago that stuck in the roof
I’m sure we could come up with a decent team of they played for both! I will throw in Barnes, Elliot, Rose and Roeder
Things have moved on for the Geordies in the last year or two. Saturday is the battle to be the tallest pygmy in the land of giants! Good work @reids, finally somebody with statistical analysis. Is there a YouTube tutorial to accompany it?
I will agree that he played for Newcastle but all I seem to remember him doing for us was making the future Andre Gray look like Pele!
Need 99 more points or else we're doomed, 33 more Cup finals. Quick, tell the lads they're semis instead!
Do Newcastle like to fling the ball into the box a lot? If so, then maybe Foster is the answer, if not, I'd go with Bachmann again. I liked that Foster chipped the ball to the full-backs at the weekend rather than to WTE and Cathcart, Bachmann isn't bad with the ball at his feet so I don't think that's beyond him! Agree fully with Reids that we need to see Tufan and/or Louza (assuming they get through tomorrow's Cup tie unscathed!), and I'd like to see us keep up the more intense pressing that we saw at Carrow Road (can our sexier midfielders emulate Cleverley in that regard?)
100% I don't get the impression that Cleverley's restoration to the starting line-up was the actual catalyst in our increased pressing approach - I think he just took part in it, and that it was a tactical decision. I certainly hope that is the case, at least. And if it is indeed the case, there isn't too much reason why that should stop just because Clevs isn't on the pitch.
A strange observation, which probably means absolutely nothing, but had we played the games we've played to date with corresponding results from the season we went down (2019-20), we'd actually be 5 points better off !! Aston Villa (h) 3-0 W, Brighton (a) 1-1 D, Spurs (a) 1-1 D, Wolves (h) 2-1 W, Norwich (a) 2-0 W. P 5 W 3 D 2 L 0 F 9 A 3 Pts 11 Gd +6....with another 2-1 win over Newcastle to look forward to in the next match. That's quite a sobering thought.
Someone mentioned the fact somewhere that we're playing Norwich and Newcastle in consecutive games, as we were in the relegation season. We're also playing Newcastle in the sixth game after being promoted, just as we were in 2015/16, and likewise we also have a chance to get our points haul to a more than respectable 9, after an identical start (3 points from the first 4 games).
That Brazilian wonder kid who was sh1te for us and mildly less sh1te for them . Can’t remember his name .
I respectfully suggest your answer wouldn’t stand up in court, although signing for Newcastle, he didn’t actually make a first team appearance
