Lol. It’s true I haven’t played at professional level which I assume is “truly competitive”. Doubt many football fans have. It’s a great point you have made.
@It's a Hart I run workshops entitled 'How to emerge relatively unscathed after having posted an innocuous post on this forum and yet been slaughtered'. Please DM me your bank account details and I'll tell you more. Yours etc. WFC Moog's mum
I know it’s not sophisticated “I understand a lot about football”, which I know most people on here do. But I have enjoyed this season. I went to the away match at Millwall that we snatched a victory and the home games have been positive. Taking a 50+ year perspective in seasons. This one has the potentially to be in The upper quartile. Maybe even top 10%. as to the game Baah missed chances Bayo would have been crucified for. Bayo looked very average, made a hash of the Bachmann punt up the field. Ince was disappointing after his Leeds performance. Porteous cant even take a throw in. Blackburn are poorer in the final third than we are. better than 3 points from the next two games and I think we can look forward to a play off campaign.
Haven't gone over the last pages - but interesting to hear TC say that Kayembe wasn't meant to take the penalty - another player who is 'full of confidence' was the nominated taker but said he didn't want to take it, so Sissoko had to go to TC and ask who should take it. Given who was on the pitch at the time - Baah? I'd have said Chakvetadze but can't see him saying no to taking it.
I’m not a fan of Bayo by any stretch of the imagination, but I thought he played a lot better today than any other time this season, he won a few headers and caused problems for their defenders which was exactly what was needed
Frankly, it's not misery. It's accurate. TC has got off to a good start and no one doubts the level of attachment he has to the club. But the banner was OTT at this point, let's be honest. Plus the graphics on it were bloody awful (apologies too whoever did it, but its true)
Still waiting to hear what 'truly completive level' you played at, that means your opinions aren't as much hot air as anyone elses....
When he takes you up on that offer, you can make handy use of said funds to invest in attending one of the workshops I run entitled 'The meaning of the word innocuous'. Truly an enlightening 3 hours, or so I'm told.
Another misery guts! It was a fun thing to do that put a smile on the majority of faces. And 3 more points made the smile bigger!
Just a word to the wise - in an era where you never truly know what someone is feeling behind a keyboard, it's probably best to steer away from calling people things like 'misery guts'....
I started to write a lenthy reply to that post but its going somewhere thats more for another section of this forum, so i will just say I'm so sorry i offended you
Positives: Tom stuck with Bachmann who aside from the first 10 was pretty much faultless. Wing backs - Two genuine players in these positions for once. Festy put in a huge shift and was rightly our MOTM. Sierralta pretty much stifled their big number 9 with some impressive pushes and pulls at the right times. This forced Gueye to start diving and faking injuries and then get subbed off. With him gone Blackburn lost their main outlet. The 1881 - Fair play to Roy for his call to arms in supporting Tom with the surfer flag. It was a much needed reminder that the majority want him long term. Substitutions were spot on and made impacts. Negatives: The fear in some of the players faces in the build up to Kayembe taking the penalty. The simply atrocious ref. Vendors in the Rookery at half time. No beer prepped, no queue system. Utterly dreadful. Gino - pay the bill to get it sorted!!!
Great result and a very average performance from two teams that will finish midtable. Ebosele is fun to watch, never quite sure what he's going to do! Felt like no one wanted to take that penalty, which was odd. Good to see TC make a change to the formation, it seemed to make us a bit more solid and opened up some opportunities for Vata. How are we 5th top highest scorers in the league without a proper striker, must he ******* awful watching some of the other dross in this league. Thought the atmosphere was dead quiet which was a shame considering we're doing alright league position wise. Highlight of the day was watching a fully grown man stand up to boo Bayo by himself. I bet his wife was happy to have him out of the house for a few hours.
This I will never understand as a mentality. By all means, boo a team if they haven't performed but if they're coming on and while they're on the pitch, support them because anything else isn't going to help them or the team. Bayo had his best minutes since his goal today for effective runs, passes and decision making and long may it continue to improve now. The only time I could understand it are for players who genuinely deserved booing were suspects such as Samba Diakate or Ramon Vega who truly didn't care to be here and didn't put in the basic hard yards.
taken in isolation you are correct however Bayo misses chances game after game I thought Bayo looked anything but average yesterday
I had a full blown meltdown swear-a-thon towards the ref after that bull carp two yellows he gave to us in the second half. Remembered the youngsters that sit around me and held my hands up and said sorry to them. I felt good about it. Then my 13 year old son called the ref something explicitly worse.... #badparentoftheyear2024
Looks like Kayembe was about 5th choice for the penalty. But he took it well tbf ! https://x.com/androofrench/status/1850191714276811053
I imagine Baah was the player who didn’t fancy it, because TC said “ the player in form didn’t want to take it “ also I believe the ball was initially given to him immediately after the pen was awarded
Have a nice Sunday everyone, don't start getting blase' because we won another game, there are no easy games in the championship, they all have to be highly competed for from the 1st to the 90th minute. We will draw some and get beaten at home a few times this season. Leta all savour the three points while we can!
Just a word to the wise - in an era where you never truly know what someone is feeling behind a keyboard, it's probably best to steer away from calling things people put their hard effort and time into 'bloody awful'....
The fear of failure is creeping into Watford's game. (It looked like it is for Blackburn, too). Watford do seem to be collectively frail in the psychology side of things.
