How is the dribble success rate determined? I could have sworn Sema did carry the ball forward on one or two occasions, not that he did anything with it.
I'm going to guess that that's probably the key - it probably only registers as successful if you carry out any kind of successful second action at the end of it, like a completed pass, or cross - if you blooter it a few feet ahead of you two or three times before crashing straight into a defender, you have theoretically done a dribble, but you haven't really brought anything to the party for your team.
That's very unfair. He did one dribble where he ran with it for a while and then bashed it off the defender's legs for a throw. That was his best contribution to the game I think.
* 0% dribble success rate 12.5% of ground duels won 20% of aerial duels won 33.3% passes complete 100% throws strategically won
The quality of the crossing on Saturday was abysmal. The two best crosses of the game were by King - the person who you wanted in the middle on the end of the crosses. The stats will show Sarr put in multiple crosses on Saturday but they were all crap, as was his overall performance.
It’s all just another part of the melting pot that we haven’t had any coherent style of play outside of ‘have some theoretically talented players on the pitch and inshallah’ for several years, and Claudio hasn’t yet had anywhere near enough time to develop and implement one himself. We’re deficient in so many basic areas of attacking play, from crosses to movement to creativity in the final third/transitioning from midfield to attack. At least we have some players like King and Dennis who actually are prepared to move and know where they should be doing so, plus can actually trap a ball, but it will take more than just that to be effective enough to have a chance of survival.
Didn't see anyone clapping and blowing kisses to Adams after his goal so that's a step in the right direction at least
