Thought the atmosphere was dreadful today
Ross Jenkins rightly laying into the rookery at half time . Basically asking for a bit of support.... It never came

Flat performance both on and off the pitch

The likelihood is in the Premier League he will come up against decent players quite regularly and on yesterdays performance that will not be a good thing for us. Kiko isn't amazing but I prefer him to Ngakia. At least he offers us more going forward.

Is it me, or is this just quite a weird thing to post, particularly after yesterday's pathetic non-performance?

On the match commentary, it was mentioned that VAR did a cursory check of it at the time and saw nothing to stop the game.

I don't doubt that. Adams had his arm away from his body, making himself a bigger target. He moved his body deliberately towards the ball, just enough to allow the ball to hit him on the elbow. Clear and obvious error and a penalty should have been awarded.

What I find strange is the lack of appeal from our own players.

This is where VAR fails for me. It's a difficult spot for the referee in real time. He doesn't give a penalty because he's not too sure and will be thinking if I got it wrong VAR will tell me. VAR looks at it and thinks, well we can't overturn the referee as it's his opinion. It's one of those where had he given a penalty VAR would not have overturned it.

What should have happened is for the VAR official to say we think you should take another look at this, and he goes over to see the replay. I'm sure he would have given a penalty had he seen it on the replay, but he wasn't given the chance to do so.

When did we have a chance cleared? The only chance I remember of us getting a point was when the goalie threw the ball into his own net.

We had an actual goal from a corner unfairly disallowed for a supposed foul.

Kyle Walker-Peters is just about an alright bottom-half of the Premier League level player, he's not even been a nailed first team pick at Southampton.

If we want to survive in this league, we need be able to deal much better with players of his level.

KWP would walk into our side at right-back, but I'm not sure that Ngakia would get in to the teams of any other PL side, even Norwich who have one of their better players there in Aarons.

OK, that was the incident I was thinking of, thought you were referring to one similar to the clearance in the Southampton game that I’d forgotten.

Ngakia had a torrid time against Walker-Peters yesterday. I still think W-P is a pretty decent player. I don't fully disagree with either of you. But he was thought to have looked pretty good against Everton. The point I am trying to make is that when commentators say a player is good or bad they tend to overlook that the opposition is a massive influence upon the game your man has.
I am a bit of a Kiko fan myself, but this is largely because of his partnership with Sarr. Indeed, if we ever sold Sarr, I think he could stand in as a winger (which is what he was at one time). Unfortunately, I don't believe he would have fared any better against W-P; (and there just isn't anyone else, is there?)
I do think the the coach, the captain and Sarr himself could have helped the situation by covering Ngakia better. In the first half Saints targeted Watford's right flank a lot of the time by doubling-up on Ngakia. Watford should have responded better.

Sorry, not having that. Warewolf has more bite than any of our spinless cowards. He even got onto the pitch.

Presumably the 'rent boy' song was targeted at their Chelsea loanee? Gilmour at Norwich got similar from Liverpool fans earlier this season. A chant which is well overdue being retired of course but likely a case of idiots copying an old song they've heard elsewhere, rather than bigotry or hatred.

It really wasn't that long ago that you'd have the whole Rookery singing "does your boyfriend know you're here" songs at Bright0n or the whole away send singing about us "shagging Elton John" etc. These types of chants still need to be phased out completely but the fact that these days they're limited to a handful of idiots in a crowd of 20,000+ is progress that shouldn't be ignored IMO

I also find the Masina song really cringeworthy as well and wish it wasn't sung just because of how embarrassing it is

Broja didn't play through injury and Livramento isn't on loan, so it's rather tenuous if that is any explanation.

I thought Livramento was on loan! Fantastic signing for them to get him on a perm

Either way I suspect it was the Chelsea link which prompted the chant but I could be wrong in that case

Yeah indeed it is, though if you're in the proper business player-trading market they have a buyback (like seemingly all their intra-league transfers these days) of £25m - if he becomes a player Chelsea would consider worth buying back, he'd be worth double that (considering they literally paid double that for Chilwell). Not that we'd turn down £25m for many players, or get the opportunity to test that with much regularity in the first place

Yeah its a clever way to do it really, I think they had the same option on Ake
