Forgot Bayo was on the pitch tbf, Kayembe simply doesn’t fit this system, he can’t play as one of the two deeper midfielders and he doesn’t really suit as one of the two attacking midfielders neither. Midfield for me has to be Louza and Dwomoh going forward, Sissoko offered nothing and broke down a number of promising attacks
Horrible home performance against what's supposed to be a poor championship side. Deserved nothing so 1 point a bonus.
Clevs ball with Kayembe playing as an attacking midfielder is dreadful, just breaks down our attacks constantly. Positive result but a couple of crap performances the last few home games.
I totally missed the first half and managed to watch from the 50th minute onwards. Doesn’t sound like I missed much, but we totally battered them in the second half without actually hurting them, and very nearly losing. The Championship. Eh?
That was beyond awful. QPR came at us and how we didn't lose this game only they will know. Defence all at sea all game, Chak missing a sitter when a tap in would of done it, Louza unlucky with a great FK to be fair. Bayo abysmal, Kayembe was terrible as was Sissoko. Ngakia not getting injured was a plus at least. What exactly was the plan today? Sit and soak up pressure and hit them on the break? It's QPR not Man City. Why did we start with such a lop-sided line up? How many chances does a team need to beat us at the Vic because of all the sides that have turned up, they should of won - and by a two or three goal score line. TC needs to re-assess this squad and look at where it went wrong, because even or second half super show did nothing (if I can call it that). We were slow in the press and tackle and let QPR dictate the play from minute one. Vata and Baah came on second half and tried to inject some pace but when your not putting away a chance as easy as Chak's then there really is no hope. Bachmann some crucial stops, played well. Defence was terrible today, no comms and the lack of awareness and space was shockingly bad. I would of said a draw would be a poor result, and it is, but on the balance of play we got lucky to get a point today and somehow keep our home run going. That was unacceptable from the start to the finish and I think the players' need to be told that. Credit to QPR though - they did what they wanted and should of won. If their strikers were not as poor as ours they would of. We now have two tricky away games at two sides who are also struggling, Cardiff and Hull. Play like today with our away form and we're getting nothing from those games. We were set up to play for a point today, and that was the most annoying thing about it. We had no attacking options and panicked when they came forward. We made them look decent becasue we were terrible, all over the pitch. We have been so, so lucky to be unbeaten at home and today underlines that luck with a big black marker pen. It's not going to last forever, and we need a serious improvement going forward.
Abysmal first half. Absolutely woeful. Improved a lot after but probably a fortunate point as should have been 0-2 at half time. We really struggle that we have ZERO attentive to Bayo, even when he is doing nothing we have to keep him on. Packing off Rajovic was brainless and the recruitment of Jebbison awful. Bachman with one brilliant save and Louza had a strong game. Ngakia, Baah, Vata decent cameos. If there is any positive to come from the game hopefully Cleverly will not start the awful Kayembe any more - a dreadful player in any position.
Ngakia choosing to chop inside to take a long-range shot with his fricking left foot was the worst for that. It's far from the first time we've been guilty of such a thing either. Cleverley should honestly ban players taking speculative shots with their wrong foot under threat of some kind of fine or other punishment. It is the wrong option every time.
Poor performance and potentially the worst we have played at home all season. Luckily we played a team who couldn't score in a brothel as pointed out by lowerous. Was a bit sloppy with lots of mistakes probably to be expected with it being the 3rd game in a week and many of the players having been on international duty all over the place prior to that. Not really at our best, take a point and move on. I said at the start of the season we needed to be at around 30 points by Christmas to have a good chance of staying out of the relegation zone so we have smashed my expectations getting to 30 points at this stage. Watching the Rangers fans celebrate the point at the end made me appreciate that we were expected by many to be the side in the relegation zone.
Absolutely disgusting first half. I really like Clevs but he has to stop playing his favourites. Andrews and Kayembe starting is killing us every game. Andrews is an abysmal footballer that literally offers nothing other than a good shot now and again. He’s terrible. Ebosele is miles ahead of him in terms of footballing ability and should always be our starting RWB/RB. Kayembe was atrocious and has been for quite some time. Bayo is still awful and that will never change but he’s all we’ve got. Sissoko looked like he couldn’t be bothered today, which is becoming a regular occurrence. Why smash the ball at Bayo. Literally my 6 year old would have played a better pass for Bayo to tap it in. I know Clevs likes the way these players train, but no point in training well if they constantly underperform. Clevs has to drop them (Bayo the exception because he’s our only striker). Vata did really well when he came on. Players hate playing against pace. When Vata and Baah were running at them they panicked. Clevs has to see that. We got an undeserved point, but draws against Plymouth and QPR is very poor.
We seem to have a lot of players who do well as a sub but when they start not good . Baah Festy Larouci I don’t if it’s the tactics or they aren’t ready ? Didn’t help Sissoko and Kayembe were poor. Bayo was hopeless too .
Cleverley often rotates our wing backs, and it's probably necessary to a reasonable degree given the frequency of games and how much running they have to get through in our system. I don't think our first choice wing backs starting every single game is feasible.
We do have Doumbia, but he seems to be forgotten. I would seriously consider giving him a run in the team going forward. If we are relying on worldies or bits of magic to win each game even against poor opposition then we are going to struggle. We created next to nothing today, bar the Louza FK and the Chak chance, and QPR despite having a weaker side on paper played and attacked much better than we did.
One day, academics will study Cleverley’s ability to consistently pick the wrong team, yet have a team unbeaten at home for so long and in the Top 6. That said, he is the head coach. He sat there and watched us against Bristol City in the first 45 minutes (and some of the second 45 minutes…)….yet he put that team out with those tactics. Whilst I’m glad where we sit in the league table, the overriding sense is it won’t last because TC can’t affect performances from the start well enough. Getting a little tiring giving him the ‘he’s a novice’ excuse.
Kayembe started the season well and was comfortably our top scorer for a while. Not sure why but he's looked well off it in the last month or so. As if the international breaks took a lot out of him and he's not been able to recover perhaps.
I'm just glad we weren't the fans celebrating a draw, just shows how awful it must be being a QPR fan at the moment and at the beginning of the season I felt that could've easily been us. Today showed the lack of squad depth we have, we desperately need some signings in January because some of those players look like they've just played game 44 of the season. Could still be 6th come 5pm which says more about the rest of the league than us. Thought Pollock was solid at the back and Chak was as ever brilliant moving the ball forward.
It is hard to disagree with this. I was disappointed when I looked at the team line up at around 11:30am and saw Ebosele on the bench. He is a lot better than Andrews it is not even close. I thought Ngakia was better than Andrews at right back when he come on also. Also agree with your point regarding Kayembe. We should have been more front footed against one of the worst sides in the league in the first half, they looked pony and low of confidence despite winning in the week. I am happy to give Clevs the benefit of the doubt regarding Ebosele though as he had a busy international period. Although typing this I just remembered that Ebosele was suspended against Plymouth. Anyway Ebosele has to be the starting right wing back it's ridiculous that he isn't the nailed-on starter.
I’m pleased we all feel angry/disappointed by that, because it shows us how far we’ve come. A few months ago we were losing at home to the likes of (to be relegated) Huddersfield. That a point that keeps our long unbeaten record going at the Vic is quite rightly regarded as a poor result shows the progress (overall) we are making, especially in a season most of us thought would be a real struggle.
Maybe I was a tad harsh with my earlier post - we have done well to get 30pts on the board and are having an identical season to Boro' results wise. We've only lost one of our last five games and are still grinding out results. I think today's performance was just unexpected, and the slow first half showings are still continuing. Looking back at the game we got a point from a game we should of lost, and we played a QPR side with a bit of confidence after they beat Cardiff midweek.
Exactly this, watching the Rangers fans at the end celebrating a point whilst still in the relegation zone made me think that could have easily been us this season.
As predicted, a feast of absolutely awful football. I don't think I've ever seen a defence as slow as QPRs and we had no plan to bypass them with speed Thank god they can't hit a barn door.
Lucky to get away with draw there. Terrible. that cross by Louza in 2nd half to far post should have been tapped in by Bayo at far post. It was a sitter that any decent striker would have finished. Bayo was like a statue
Think the keeper saved it ? Sissoko and Bayo should have create a goal too We were lucky again tbh. QPR should have won really . Did better in the second half after a few subs Caught out in midfield too much and passive at times.
The second fastest we’ve reached 30 Championship points under Pozzo. We are a point ahead of where we were at this stage in our first promotion season, but three under where we were in our last. A first goalless draw for us in any match since Hull visited in April.
I liked it when Sissoko got in to the six yard box, drew the keeper and then blasted it as hard as he could at Bayo's chest.
Battle of the dreadful centre forwards resulted in a 0-0 draw, predictably, however the QPR bloke , at least , missed some sitters . We offer very little attacking threat down the middle . Bachmann saved us again and how we have come away with 4 points and 2 clean sheets this week is a mystery.
We seem to be getting nearer to the first home defeat in a way. Probably be on Boxing Day as 3 relatives are coming and the time they came was 2023 Boxing Day. Sorry.
My biggest moan is the poor passing, we gave the ball away so many times around their box. Then we tried about 8 charges down the side with hopeless pullbacks every time. It's time they worked it out. We had players on the 6 yard box and the ball pulled back to the penalty spot. Anyway these games happen and we could have lost so hey-ho... I think we do have a fitness issue. Any team that rolls their sleeves up and gives it their best will aways make us struggle in the middle and I can't put my finger on why. I'd like to see Vata playing more.
Actually that's a good point! Nearly all of our moves go tightly down the sidelines, nothing much thru the middle..
