Players High-lighted in Yellow are SENIOR first team squad members (maximum 17 allowed)
Players high-lighted in blue are UNDER 21 qualified squad members (unlimited)

Players in grey are reserve team players qualify as UNDER 21 but unlikely to be involved.

Munari's loan has finished as has Connelly's.

Juanfran shouldn't be on there really. He's never been confirmed by the club and Duxbury claimed to have not heard of him.

You thinking of Gabriel Tamas? We cancelled his contract around Xmas.

 

Ekstrand is injured until the end of the year so is unlikely to be included in the 25 man squad until the January Window Opens.
Ranegie is on loan in china until 31/dec 2015 so is also unlikely to be included if at all.

I put a few names in blue who were also available but unlikely to be incuded if they're even still here.

I'll move some of the certs into the available slots ( deeney, vydra, abdi etc... ) but didn't want to do so from the start.

 

Tamas? He was permanent but he's left now, signed for Steaua Bucharest I think.

 

Tamas was permitted to sign with Steaua (probably on part of an agreement for Arslauskis)

 

If we go 442 I wouldn't be surprised if we kept Fabrinni, we only have 3 wingers there in total so crazy short of cover

 

Thanks guys, that's him, Gabriel Tamas, and I was right I thought he was permanent, but I did not realise he had gone.

 

Looking at what we have available at the moment (thanks for the grid thing Magic), we can expect a lot of transfer activity very soon, because IMO right now we are woefully short of players, let alone decent standard players for the PL.

IMO our PL standard players are: - Deeney; Cathcart; Watson; Gomes; Vydra; Angella; Ighalo; Prodl; Arslauskis; Layun; Toszer; Parades; Abdi.; Bond. I would also include Elkstrand here, but for his injury.

That is just 14 available players: - 3 GK; 3 Strikers; 4 MF; 4 Def. Barely enough to field a team with 2 keepers as subs.


There are also borderline players that might not be good enough IMO: - Anya; Pudil; FF; Doyley; Smith; Murray; Gilmartin; Dyer; McGugan; Bekalem; Fabrinni; Battocchio; Renagie; I also think a lot of these may not be staying, that depends on Florrie, he might fancy them?

That is a further 13 players: - 1 GK; 1 Striker; 8 MF; 3 Def. A bit of overload in MF and not a lot else.

Finally the youngsters who can play and not be in the 25: - Hoban; Johnson; Doherty; Byers; Ikpeazu; Jakubiak; Mensah.

Another 7 players: - 3 Strikers; 1 MF; 3 Def. To be fair Hoban is probably PL standard, but does not need to be named in the squad because of his age, and some of the others might be able to step up if needed.

The upshot of all this is I think we could do with possibly 10+ new players just to make our 1st team squad up to PL standard; and that is not even allowing for players that might leave the club!

I know it is unlikely to be the case, but just for a bit of fun, what would your opening day 1st eleven and bench be if the above players were what we had to start the season.

 

I can't argue with much of that.

Anya, Pudil, Forestieri & Murray have minor claims to be included in the 25 man squad but I'm sure that will all be down to Flores.

There's certainly an influx of players on the horizon

 

Anya will get in as he is home grown, Murray needs a season long loan in the Championship so I doubt we'll put him in the 25

 

The problem with getting numerous players in is that we will probably have to guarantee each of them regular football, which could be difficult as there aren't unlimited spaces in our team. I agree that we do need more homegrown players, not just to abide by the rules but to also bring through talent that can then be sold on (Pozzo model).

TVOR's analysis of who are good enough is great, i disagree about Anya, think he is PL standard and is also flexible enough to be competent in many formations and positions. Murray once he gets fit could be included as well, although I think he needs a loan to get first team games, like Bond. I am of the opinion that Pudil and Forestieri will be kept on, at least until January.

Ultimately i have faith in the club to find the right players, but i don't think we can get people like Munari anymore as they fill space needed for homegrown players

 

I don't know if you are aware that the homegrown thing is different in the PL.

We only need to have 8 players in the entire 25 man squad; meaning we only have to have 1 homegrown player in the match day 18.

 

We don't need to have 8 homegrown, just a maximum of 17 non-homegrown. And I don't think we have to name any in the matchday do we?

 

We have to name 1 to make up the matchday 18.

 

Or an under 21.

 

Would he have to be homegrown, I suppose not?

Why is our squad in the form of a periodic table? They're not even in any form of logical order or columning based on squad number/position/whether or not the player is a halogen.

Updated the images to include positions (although we have a lot of versatile players so not everyone will be perfectly categorised)
