Utterly ridiculous. As the EFL already put their thumb on the scale to control the draw, why didn't they mandate an away game for Man City in this round? It sounds like the only viable date for City to play was Weds 25 Sept and that was always going to be same day United played Twente. Completely avoidable.

I hope part of the 'TBC' is due to Watford digging their heels in and refusing to accept a move to a Thursday or whatever, compromising our league campaign.

 

Play it on the Tuesday. They've got the squad.

 

I suspect it's the Dutch fans GMP are most concerned about. But ultimately it's about numbers. If they have to police both games they're having to put more officers on duty at public expense.

We’ll still obviously lose, but there is a small crum of comfort to be gained from the fact their attempt to rig the completion has actually back fired (a little bit) on them, and given them more of a fixture headache, not less.

 

Or just ask the EFL to reverse the venue, play at Vicarage Road on the Wednesday, simple solution.

 

As the draw was rigged as a home draw for Man City, that really should not be a problem if you ask me!!!!

 

Apparently the only alternative date was the Thursday but City would have had to accept a reverse so the game was played at Vicarage Road:
