I agree about the midfield. Everyone goes on about the defence (I agree about this as well) but there is a total lack of structure in midfield. We are crying out for a central defensive midfielder who 'sits' in front of the CB's and offers defensive protection. Sometimes, two central midfielders can take it in turns, if one goes forward the other stays back and vice-versa. Our lot all charge forward or all charge to one side just like schoolkids - they leave not just space but whole chasms out wide for the opposition to cause havoc.
Was that a tactical decision from the management to basically let West Ham dominate the ball and over run us after we scored? Our strongest point is the attack so surely we should have untitled that rather than allow good players out move and out pace us.
I completely forgot to mention, the 1st West Ham goal was symbolic of how flat footed Bachmann is. He got beat at his near post and he wasn’t even able to make an attempt to save it. If I was in goal today that would have been my body position too.
Got to change formation as 433 isn't working if not going 3 centre backs maybe 4231 so have 2 sitting in front of the back 4 ,changed formation mid point last season may do the trick again
Yep, a complete liability, half a*sed in everything he does, offers nothing, complete liability off the ball, gives away free kicks, runs slowly, turns slowly. How on earth was he identified as a Premium League footballer?
This was why Hughes leaving was obviously a concern to anyone who had watched us at any point last season.
Femenia and Masina weren’t good enough when we were last in the PL and they still aren’t good enough now. Bachmann is a liability. Tufan is out of his depth.
Bachman is genuinely a division 1 standard keeper. His entire career is less than 100 professional games, which by age if 27 is telling. That is made up of loans in conference, division 1 and Kilmarnock playing in front of 5000 spectators with a squad of loan /freebies from English divisions 1, 2 and again conference. One half season of 23 games in the championship with us last season is the only higher league. Not his fault, but unbelievable for a premier league team to have that standard.
Don’t forget Cathcart is too past it, Rose is too fat, WTE too error prone, Kabasele too injured, Gosling too crap, Fletcher too Championship, Sema too nice and Kucka too thuggish. I think that covers it.
Jesus Christ, the passiveness of the players is contagious. I don't feel that annoyed or irked unlike the seasons of yesteryear had we lost 1-4 at home, I just feel complete apathy at the whole burning wreckage. Bring on Oxford United away in the championship (hopefully some pre mentioned names have left by that point...)
SEJ stand. He whizzed past me as I was heading for the exits. I assumed he was equally as pissed off as I was and was looking for the quickest route out of the the Stadium.
Bloody hell, the goals given away looked even worse on MoTD than in stadium this afternoon. In deep poo.
This is turning out to be such a disappointing season. We all knew that we would struggle to survive in the Premier league. The owner did very little to really strengthen the squad. I still feel that Gino/ Duxbury had one eye on a relegation business plan before the season started. It has been woeful so far. It appears that the club have learnt nothing from our last stint in the Premier league and that is very poor. It looks like another clear out is needed for next season in the Championship. Will Ranieri still be in a job or will he walk? As Talksport has just said "The Watford defence is hopeless". I don't even gamble on the Watford matches for fun anymore, the shop owner laughs and feels embarrassed for me and he supports St Etienne!!
Basically we look good in attack but hopeless in defence and will go down if that doesn’t improve. Staring the obvious a bit I know !
Sounds like a Hughes/Chalobah type set up. If only the Pozzos had the funds to secure something like that rather than tat like Kucka/Tufan/Louza.
He wasn’t great but hoofing balls to him to win against Diop and Dawson wasn’t great. We of all people know Dawson can’t turn and sprint well yet we gave him everything to head away which is the only thing he’s remotely good at.
The most embarrassing schoolboy thing about that was we could all see serrialta wanted to play hoof ball up to King yet while the ball was in the air nine out of ten times not one of our players thought about going to help him they just watched noble pick up the second ball ,so imo opinion I don't thing King was thick as mince today
I literally could not believe my godamn luck this morning when I saw west ham weren't even odds on at just 11/10. I assumed they had insider knowledge of West ham's team selection but the lineups were announced and it was still 21/20. It's like printing godamn money!!!
Dwelling on the game (have covid so I’m isolating and have nothing better to think about) Dennis - great goal , but crossing is **** JP had some good movement and i thought looked the best player out there kucka made lots of mistakes , def responsible for the penalty Sierralta was irritating Antonia which I guess is something king needs more luck sissoko I still like , he drives forward louza took some good free kicks everything was loose and unorganised , might be lack of training and recovering from covid (don’t think I would fancy playing for 90 mins on Saturday) or it might be that we are **** if you look at crap teams that do ok they keep it simple , we have 11 players that think they can do a flick over someone’s head nutmeg the next play and then shoot , when it works it looks great ,unfortunately most of the time it doesn’t
This a million times - and yet, the rest of the time when they're not acting like they're the Harlem Globetrotters with what should be routine passes, they can't stop themselves from hoofing it straight out of defence and into opposition possession a la Masina and Bachmann, blootering it straight off the pitch, or refusing to do anything other than start a sub-70 IQ game of head tennis by banging a header straight back to their defenders in central midfield, even when under no pressure, instead of just bringing the fuccking ball down and having some possession of our own a la Cathcart, Kucka and (today, sadly) Sissoko. Talk about the sublime to the ridiculous.
