We missed the chance for the 1st time in 33 years to win our Boxing day game and the game after, you would have thought we had a really good chance of doing it today, but no we are Watford!
Porteous, Kayembe, Sissoko and Andrews were absolutely atrocious. The fact that 3 out of those 4 were allowed to finish the game is unbelievable. Jebbison may be the worst striker I’ve seen in my 25 years of being a Watford fan.
Normally I would agree with this, but today was no way near Watfordy enough for even us. It was downright pathetic from start to finish and our worst performance not only under Tom's reign but maybe since Zola's final game? (Yoevil)
I think we just have realise once and for all, we've got sh1t owners, a decent squad but a pathetic excuse for a midfield, and TC just has to be overly positive and pretend he can coach what players he's got to do what they should be doing... When they can't or won't. Or maybe, if there is a god he just effing hates Watford supporters..
Do we ever win 2 home games in a row in the same week ? I feel we always have struggled in that regard !
I agree that Sissoko and Kayembe were not good enough today. But who do we actually have that can replace them in central midfield with TDB injured?
It’s probably not worth the harm it would cause by doing it halfway through the season - but I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that we should make Pollock captain now, in the face of the fact we should be signing someone to take Sissoko’s place for the second half of the season. His stamina (which was always his best attribute) has clearly gone. And when that’s gone, you are really are left with a horrible footballer. If we could - and it’s a reach - sign Kyprianou (or better), it’s a switch I’d genuinely make. Pollock as captain would be launching into them in the changing room after the game - I do fear what Sissoko’s influence has been in such affairs.
Long time coming, the big problem is that we seriously lacking squad depth, hopefully Gino bolsters the squad in January if we want to be in with a shout of top 6. Hopefully we bin Jebbison, absolutely atrocious and one of the worst strikers I've ever seen in a Watford shirt.
Is he now? Well maybe hide his return ticket then. Why oh why did we send out a player who came alive in the 6yrd box and bring one in who s***s his pants in the 6yrd box?
Pollock has been without a doubt, our stand out performer this season. The bloke seems to be invincible to injuries and carries on. He is our version of the Terry Butcher era of "keep going till the end". He has his flaws, but he's got that in him to lead this side. Sissoko has it purely on experience, and none of his performance have shown he can lead the team when we are struggling. He's clearly past his prime and it's another golden oldie we are hanging onto.
@reids do performance graphs/charts/spiders get created for individual games? I have to see Sissoko's today, if so.
Today underlined how much we miss Baah. We have so little attacking threat that when one is out the side we look about as potent as wet paper towel. Of course, his absence cannot mask how terrible we were today as a team and one player cannot carry a side. Although you have to wonder where we would be without goal scoring midfielders - because our strikers would struggle in League Two.
Perfect. Just in time for Tom Cleverley’s patented ‘I won’t pick the same team twice so I’ll just pull it out of my a*se’ matinee show on New Years Day.
He massively bottled that header, looked like he pulled away last minute as the keeper would have clattered him.
Yes mate, only thing I can think of is did he think he was about to be clattered. Even then it’s a bottlejob.
The thing about Senior was that he had an excellent scoring record in a lower division. Jebbison looks the build and acts the athleticism that you'd want but he has no successful 'previous' record. I suspect Bournemouth have mugged us again. That second half miss was as bad as any I have seen.
Pretty much summed up how I saw things, plus Larouci completely ball watching for their second goal was so so basic. Porteous’ first half performance was one of the worst I’ve seen in some time, all at sea against a bang average side. I don’t think TC deserves as much stick as he’s getting today, the subs were wrong and Sissoko and Kayembe should never have finished that game. However, our bench showed the distinct lack of options he has to turn to. 9 subs, 6 of which were defenders and a GK.
Definitely sits at number one in my hall of shame. An untalented, lazy player and on today's evidence a coward too.
Sounds like Porteous was at fault for the first goal - bad start and never recovered? One shot on goal regardless of who is playing and the opponent is pretty poor . Were we back to trying to pass it around for the sake of it ?
