Dire, typical Champo fair. We looked tired and lethargic. Cant blame Cardiff for employing the dark arts as they are right in the sh1t. Looking forward to a good reaction from the lads in the next game! Eric Pain and the Mispronunciations of Chaos. I would just like to wish Jebbison a safe journey back to Bournemouth.
Poor today, particularly at the back. Behind in the match and with Vata and Bayo being subbed off, along with Baah being suspended, I wondered where the next goal would come from and unfortunately it didn't come. Jebbison had a decent chance but somehow wasn't able to head the ball.
Awful game which summed up the championship this season very average players and officials can't wait to watch some non league football on new year's day.. Next Watford game im going to is Fulham fully expecting a battering there.
Logically though if we had to lose, better against a side not challenging us for the play-offs. Baah our best player today. He was a big miss. He’s back for Wednesday. If we have anything about us, we will win that one. An away victory to balance out losing at home for the first time. Please no Sissoko starting on NYD.
That is all on Tom Cleverley today. Downhill from the 2pm team announcement onwards. Awful miss from Jebbison - I can’t defend that, even if I have been his most vocal backer. All I would say is that he shouldn’t have been dropped. We need to build his confidence and dropping him so quickly after a half decent performance was a poor call - and then we have the obvious thing of fans expecting something from him once he’s brought on. It’s a juxtaposition. But again, the miss was beyond bad. And TC, for all his good efforts this season, is continually self-harming us with this constant desire to tinker the line-up every game. The defence gets changed every game, so it’s no surprise they often play like strangers. The midfield was horrible to watch. Yet he kept Sissoko and Kayembe, by far-and-away the biggest culprits, on for the duration. A huge advert for adding reinforcements there. It’s going to be easy to focus on Jebbison and/or others tonight. But every poor player had a heavy sprinkling of ‘bad management’ on them. Really like TC as our coach. But that was as bad as anything served up in recent years - and it all began and ended with him I’m afraid.
Awful performance. Tom Cleverly’s lack of experience at game management and tactics was cruelly exposed. Other than Louza, we had nothing in midfield. Jeb is a wreck mentally. Bayo is just not good enough. Being realistic about where we are, we have had significant luck in sustaining our home record until now. Neither today’s ref nor their time wasting can be blamed on that loss. Tactically we were totally inept. We are a squad of ******* full backs, no centre forwards and off form, injured or over the hill centre midfielders. We have experienced so many disappointing performances as WFC fans that you would think that we would have learned our lesson about getting our hopes up. By the way, Cardiff are very very poor. Robinson and O’Dowda are very average players, made to look decent today. A reality check today. Let’s not kid ourselves, this has not been rare. Last minute winner seems an age away.
About three times in each season the ridiculous hypercritical sniping of the "usual suspects" is justified. This was one of those occasions. That makes a hideous performance so much less bearable.
I'm annoyed at the referee who had no control on the time wasting. Cardiff were similar to Portsmouth with how they extracted as much time away possible but they didn't have to sit back against any sustained pressure from us. They didn't have to get out of second gear to win and we can't be angry with that because they fought harder and were better. I'm angry with the team who didn't turn up in any capacity today. Cardiff didn't have to work the ball to make either goal. Porteous had a horror show with many mistimed interceptions while Sissoko and Kayembé both were non-factors. Louza was trying to do the work of 3 midfielder while Bayo was unable to hold the ball in any capacity, but Jebbison showed he hasn't built on his promising recent games and then missed a sitter. Again. You feel it's a mental block now. Cleverley got it wrong by trusting the under performing duo of Sissoko and Kayembe while Chakvetadze had an anonymous game; the goal was a fluke as he was off the boil. Vata should not have come off either. That was as bad as Luton away, the goal masked it.
You can't say it's not been coming the way our recent games have been going. A bit surprising it happened today considering where Cardiff are in the table, though they played far better than their position suggests and were very clinical. After months of teams coming to the Vic and passing up chance after chance, Cardiff gobbled up the opportunities which came their way. They managed a surprising and disappointing smash and grab win last season as well. Today was a game which reminded one of why we switched to a back 5 in the first place. Our back 4 were so frail. Porteous forgot he wasn't in a back 5 and reverted to being caught out of position repeatedly from chasing balls he's not going to get. It wasn't a surprise he was subbed as he couldn't hold his shape. Pollock's defending was poor in allowing Robinson all that space for the first goal. Larouci was on his heels for the second. And Andrews in general was weak - I don't understand Clevs repeatedly playing Ngakia as a WB, yet bringing in Andrews when we switch to a back 4, when they are better suited the other way round. It wasn't only the back 4's fault though. One way or another, to allow the opponent a 2 vs 2 in your own box 2 minutes in to the game is concerning. For both goals too many of our players rushed to the ball like an under-9s game, meaning when it broke free Cardiff had a free run at exposed defenders. If you're going to play a back 4 one of the CMs should also be doing more to shield the back 4 and mopping up instances like their 2 goals, but none of our CMs out there today really have that defensive instinct. For the second goal Bayo was also poor in lazily flicking the ball to nobody, giving Cardiff the break-away. Chak finally managed to slot a chance away, yet typically it counted for nothing. Jebbison fluffed yet another gilt-edged chance. and so while looking lively again continues to be hopeless. In a year or two those types of chances might start going in for him at this level, but right now he's not doing enough. Ebosele's best Baah impression was disappointing, and he was surprisingly out-muscled a few times. Not sure what's happened to him. In a case of swings and roundabouts - though I'd have to see it again - while the linesman in the corner helped us to 3 points vs Pompey, the one in the same position today allowed Cardiff's second goal to stand when I thought the runner behind Larouci seemed slightly offside. Ultimately it meant today was a bit after the Lord Mayor's show (and no Baah, no party). At the very least I hope this pushes us to not be complacent in the January window.
No urgency. Players half asleep. Sissoko French International can’t throw the ball in. TC no plan B. Plan A was ****ed after 1 minute. Jebbison can just f right off back to the coast. No one comes out with credit today. We made Cardiff look half decent. Wot a shyte afternoon. The good news - a game in hand, we’re still atm in the playoffs, the Scum lost.
Long throw into the box, flicked on by Ebosele, flicked towards goal by Sierralta. Jebbison emerges from the crowd ready to pounce.... And just mistimes it to the extent he gently kisses the ball with the top of his hair, and nods it wide
The manager shouldn't be leaving the team's top scorer on the bench for Jebbison, with the team in a playoff spot, unless he was fatigued or injured.
Jebbison reminds me of Bill Baxter, a player we had on loan from Hull some years ago. Hull were in danger of relegation like us and Baxter proceeded to sabotage us by giving away a totally unnecessary penalty. Does anyone else remember this?
I was thinking the same. Festy's attacking game is decent and if used further forward I think he could cause a defence some problems....
Found a ROM of Jebbison from the Bournemouth website source. They still hate us. This explains it all. Well that miss was horrible from Jebbison. I hope we’re picking up the phone to Rajovic first thing tomorrow morning.
Anyone blaming the ref today needs to step away from posting opinions. We were absolutely fu**ing sh*te and yes, Baah is a large reason too. Cardiffs keeper could have sat on the bench as he had literally nothing to do. Horrific all round.
I do indeed. I seem to remember he kicked someone in the penalty area when the ball had already been cleared.
If I was Gino I would be flying to Bromby or getting a taxi to LC right now and getting on my knees for him to sign a new deal and a massive pay rise.
