We have only been ahead by more than one goal in two league games this season, home to Stoke and away to Sheffield Weds. Apart from not being good for the ticker, I’m going to stick my neck out and say things are going to change on Saturday for the better. QPR are away to Cardif this evening, that’s a huge disadvantage for them not getting back until the early hours Thursday morning then 12.30 kick off away to us on Saturday COYH

I hope you are right, QPR look in big trouble this season only 11 points from 16 games.

Nice stat, bar the small correction others have already posted.

In fact, 9 of our 11 league wins under TC have been by one goal.

Last night was the 5th 1-0 victory under him, spread over two seasons.

Last time we played QPR when they were in trouble, they hadn't won in ages. We turned up at their place (on a good run) stunk the place out and lost 1-0.

We know how good we are at changing a team's fortunes around so I hope, I really hope, we put in a good performance and don't show them any respect.

Yes, we are good at changing a team’s fortunes, but to balance it out…

Last night was Bristol City’s first away defeat since mid September.

We remain the last team to beat Sunderland, who have gone 9 unbeaten since then.

We are the last team to beat Middlesboro at home, they’ve scored 13 times in 3 away trips since!

Argyle had won 4 and drawn 1 at home before our visit on Friday..we were seconds away from being the first visitors to win there since August.

So for every Preston and Luton disaster, we’ve also ended some team’s good runs too.

We beat them 2-1 with both our goals coming from Livermore

Thought it was a tough game last night battled really well improved second half, larouci gave us must more balance on that side as he is left footed ,I think we should sign him permanent in jan transfer window like we did with georgie he is a major upgrade on king Ken

We deserved three points at Plymouth and didn't get them, last night we didn't deserve three points but did. Football in a nutshell!
Poor first 30 mins when Bristol were on top but last 15 we seemed to get in to the game. Better second half and an excellent goal.
We look so much better with Louza playing. His control of the game and passing ability is streets ahead of anybody else. So pleased he's finally showing his talent and it can only be good for us
Pollock and Porteous were excellent but I always worry with Sieralta. Very lucky not to be sent off last night. Morris plays for me while Ogbonna is injured as give us the balance of a left footed player
Chak was poor and looks like he could do with a break but we simply can't afford to not play him. Baah was rubbish. Feel for Festy playing in the left wing back role. Maybe give Andrews a break on Saturday and play Larouci and Festy as the wing backs.
Bayo was ok but didn't really pose much of a threat
The home form is astonishing and we couldn't wish for an easier home game than we have Saturday so I think we all know what's going to happen
Considering where we are in the league and the home form I thought the attendance was very disappointing. Officially 17000 or so but looked a lot less than that

One thing though it needed changing first half and TC needs to be braver in making decisions.

Indeed, Wilder's first game was the 1 nil loss. Last season was the Jake Livermore show.

I was really worried when Baah didn't come out for the second half as he is our main target for longer balls, so that didn't help and left Bayo chasing on is own.
I also feel Tom needs to get Chack playing a bit more "with" teammates rather than him making 7 maurauding dribbles per game that exhaust him as he goes it alone looking for a long range shot. (not knocking him he just tries too hard at times).

I didn't enjoy this game too much. The first half was very scrappy and the second half was only a marginal improvement. Another millimetre to the left and Andrews' shot comes back out him to have another go or bounces back straight into the weird paisley-clad keeper's hands.

The goal was against the run of play, there's no denying it. Excellent from Chak in looking up and spotting Andrews in space, then picking a good pass. Well done Andrews for finding the space and having a go, rather than copying our style of either A) a further myriad of intricate passes around the edge of the box until dispossessed or B) looping it up tamely to the back post area for the keeper to collect or leave to float out of play as he chooses. I thought for a moment Andrews had left it too long and would get closed down, but no, it went it so good on him.

Kayembe was not good in the first half despite putting himself around a fair bit and getting into a shirt wrenching square up with one of theirs.

I thought both Yu and Mehmeti were good for them and was pleased when they went off. Their CF, Tenbury Wells, was pretty dire though, otherwise I'm sure we would have conceded in the first 30 mins. Bachmann made a couple of good saves, especially one down low to his right. However on the negative side he did completely misjudge the shot from their sub that came back off the bar. Stood there watching it, twitching but not doing very much, as it plummeted out of the sky and towards our net. Move yerself man!

Baah was awful. No surprise even TC broke every rule in his coaches' playbook and didn't wait until 60 mins before sending him to the showers. Mind you, we know what Bash does - he sprints onto long low balls played down the wing and there were precious few of those.

Louza was adequate. Can't help not liking him much despite his apparent conversion from oily don't-care layabout to oily makes an appearance of trying. He did make one or two decent passes forwards, but too often shirked responsibility and did his 'back at ya' immediate return pass when receiving the ball. If he's going to be out quarterback, then he needs to be looking up and picking a pass.

I'm very used to Pollock by now. When he came I really didn't think he'd get much 1st team time. Always 100% and intelligent and committed play from him.

That's the first game for a long long time where we've played out the last 10 minutes whilst 1up and we looked solid enough that I wasn't feeling panicky..

  24. Watching the extended highlights, after the final whistle Andrews and Louza do a chest bump that seems genuinely joyful. Which leads me to believe (on scant evidence) that Louza wants to be part of "the project".

That was another one that he could have done absolutely nothing about - the ball's trajectory went from being about one metre over the crossbar to dipping on top of the bar.

There was no point at which he or any other keeper could have reached it, unless they had already been incorrectly positioned glued to their goal line so they could have tipped it over just before it hit the bar.

He's similar to Tom Ince, or perhaps a slightly different, lesser Morgan Whittaker. His stats below give some indication - aside from having a cracking long-range shot (and taking a good set piece), when he's not occasionally doing something amazing he offers little. He lacks mobility and is very static in open play. Near enough the definition of a luxury player.

I think to say we didn’t deserve to win is a bit harsh , we were not great but in all reality we played against a good mid league team that were able to nullify our main attacking threats, however they never really dominated us in are penalty area, they didn’t really pepper our goal they didn’t really do enough to deserve to win either.

It’s a weird game football , did we play bad or did they just play better than us I think it was a 50 /50 game that was always going to be won by a bit of class.

Most pundits and fans had us in the relegation zone for this season and we didn’t bring in any amazing signings to alter that view so by all accounts we are punching well above our weight.

Why did we win, we had a few players last night that just wanted it more than Bristol , Louza (who I believed to be an utter tosser) wasn’t far off superb ,he was everywhere and committed , not sure what’s changed but has skill and now seems to want to play for us. Ebosele yesterday in the first half was everything Baah wasn’t (he just could t get in the game) , Bachman didn’t really put a foot wrong all game. The last last 20 mins everybody was putting their bodies 9n the line to stop Bristol.

Did we play well, no not particularly, did we deserve to win, yes they couldn’t breakdown our defence down, we scored an excellent goal and then defended with everything we had.

Will we win against QPR , probably not but we will end the year with a lot more points than most people expected.

Sorry for the above positivity , I have December off on Holiday so only 2 days work left this yer and in a good mood :)

At home our defense is looking very good. We were not at are best but we got the job done. I know many people say it will be "vintage Watford" if we lose on Saturday but I would be surprised, this team is cut from a different clothe to the previous 2 seasons. This thread is only 4 pages! it would have been 10+ if we had not won!! Long may the short threads continue!!!
