Troy also reckoned he was the actual main man last season, not Vydra ...

Well look how that's turned out.

Deeney needs space to get the best out of him, and Vydra scared the living crap out of the defence of other teams and looked towards him, so Deeney could do what he liked.

Vydra warming the bench nicely at West Brom.

    His record to date:-

    7 mins v Southampton
    23 mins v Everton
43 mins v Newport (CO Cup)
    4 mins v Palace

    DISASTER.

It must please the Pozzo's so much to watch as the zero's fall off of his value.

I would imagine that the Pozzos will be concerned but won't be panicking. He's a young lad and they have plenty of time to get him upto a peak price even if this season is wasted on WBAs bench.

This is dead time in his career. If you're looking at the Pozzo empire as a business and Vydra as an asset, then the move to West Brom is a disasterous one for the business. A year wasted, value being hacked off weekly and then no guarantee that they will be able to get him back up to the heights of last year with time enough left on the contract to cash in.

Basically, the Pozzos were put under pressure by Vydra's agent, they caved to some extent and now they must be regretting it. If he was at Watford, we'd probably be nearer to promotion than we are now and they'd be sitting on a player worth £10-15m whenever they wanted to sell him.

And Deeney's value probably wouldn't be in the toilet either

They made the best of a bad situation, since his contract was close to expiring.

The mistake they made was in not negotiating a new contract before sending him out on loan to us. Under the circumstances I thought they did quite well over the summer, since they forced him to agree a new contract before sending him to WBA. That move might yet see him back in a yellow shirt.

Bringing him back would make a lot of sense for all parties ... he gets game time and a chance to shine, we get goals and a better chance of promotion and more importantly for the Pozzo's, enhanced asset values from both and their UK project back on track.

Did he actually say I do not want to play for Watford? He may have said I would like to play in the PL. If it continues for the next 6 weeks in a similar fashion would he rather not be playing?

    From YorkPress in June.

Agent 'can't imagine' Vydra will stay in Championship
    2:34pm Tuesday 4th June 2013
Matej Vydra’s agent Ondrej Chovanec says he can’t imagine the Watford striker playing in the Championship next season.

The Czech Republic international joined the Hornets on loan from Udinese last summer and was Watford’s top scorer with 22 goals.

His impressive form saw him named the Championship player of the season and he has been linked with a move to Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

Chovanec said Vydra was “very happy” at Watford last season but added the striker wants to test himself in a higher division.

“I can’t imagine him playing in the Championship again right now,” Chovanec told the Evening Standard. “We discussed it with the boy and he would like to play with the top players on the top level.

“It’s difficult because he was very happy at Watford, but if you get the opportunity to play Premier League or German Bundesliga would you say no?

“He is the number one Czech international striker and he would like to play the same level competition as Petr Cech is doing.”

Chovanec said he met with Gino Pozzo last Friday to discuss Vydra’s future. He stated Watford want to keep the striker and should he stay at Vicarage Road it is likely to be on a permanent deal.

However, he added: “The Pozzos are always saying if the player wants to leave and the offer is good enough then let’s discuss.

“At the moment he would like to play in the highest league. He had two or three proposals from Premier League clubs in January and he has had fresh proposals.”

The comments from Chovanec go against what Watford owner Giampaolo Pozzo said last week in an interview with Udineseblog.it.

Giampaolo Pozzo was asked whether he expected the Hornets to retain Vydra. He replied: “Absolutely; we want to make the team stronger to do better. He will stay at Watford.”

When asked a similar question, he responded: “Of course [he will stay].”

Yes, one of those situations where Google Translat...er, I mean my limited ability to understand and translate Czech for the benefit of my co-forum users is a bit frustrating.

My take is that he means either Udinese or another English league team, rather than specifically dropping a level, but you could read it either way.

Don't we have a native Czech speaker on here somewhere?
