Due to one design for the new home "The Nightingale" etc having a window where this particular Nightingale is built overlooking neighbours. This blocked window is accepted by the planners as authentic - because of window tax.

Also typically it was cheaper to have smaller windows and more wall, so cheaper terraced or semi detached housing will have smaller windows. Got small windows? Poor.

It's now the modern trend to have new houses with smaller windows for energy efficiency.

Aside from a **** neighbour of ours who made 80% of the front of his house windows. Then installed blinds inside AND outside because, shock horror, it has no privacy letting everyone see inside his house and gets incredibly hot in the summer!
