[RELEASED] Troy Deeney

He was literally talking about leaving two minutes after we were relegated (which of course our fans let slide because "Deeney iz a legend m8".

He hasn't wanted to be here from the second relegation was confirmed. Thinks he's too good for the Championship and suddenly "Mr Watford" isn't so any more. Colour me shocked.

Can't wait for the club to revert back to actually being Watford FC rather than Deeney FC. Hurry up and **** off.

 

I expect him not being asked to appear on Monday Night Football or MOTD2 will be more frustrating to him than not being in our starting XI

The Athletic write up hits the nail on the head with regards to needing a new post-Deeney identity, on and off the pitch. I wouldn’t say I’m happy to see him go, but I will be happy about the opportunity of a fresh start.

Deeney autobiography: legend & bell end

 

Was probably worth 40 times that to the club. It was an incredible story with the Elton John gig at the vic paying his fee. EJ effectively made the club the equivalent of £20m with one gig. The tragedy is Troy stayed 1 season too many. If he had the personality of a Foster or a Capoue we could keep him in the Champo but we can't have his leadership style at the club anymore. We have to evolve into a more modern progressive leadership model and give more responsibility to younger and better players than Troy. if we'd sold Doucs and Troy last summer and invested well, I'm 100% sure we'd still be in the prem.

eating is the best part of my day, ive been on 1800 calories for months now. the only way i can maintain my 82kg footy weight.

The assumption here seems to be that Troy thinks he's too good for the Champ. But what if Gino said "Troy, we need to change the culture. You're such a strong personality that everyone leaves everything to you. If we try to get you a move back to the Prem where you can be an impact sub and prolong your career by not putting too much strain on your dodgy knee, we can force the others to take more responsibility for what happens."

I probably had more than 1800 calories on my dinner plate. Cheesecake, 4 bulmers and I'm still looking in the fridge for something else to eat.

haha yer I used to eat 3000 a day pre lockdown when I could get down the gym every night. Unfortunately my local gym isn’t opening until september though. I’ve used the whole thing as a bit of an exercise in toning, so I’ve lost a fair bit of muscle weight. I reckon I look better for it though.

Just lip service, don't believe it for a minute. He knows the world and his wife are listening, including a load of Watford fans. Deeney is becoming quite media savvy these days it seems.

 

He apparently said he does not want to leave, but if the club think it is time for him to go then so be it.

However if as reported, Welbeck is looking to invoke his £5.5m relegation clause valuation, which means he can automatically leave if someone offers at least that amount for him, then maybe we should hang on to TD No9 after all.
