Really like most of your posts Moog. Baffled why you’d post this ?

You need to stop fighting it - you clearly have feelings for Troy. Just admit it and give in to them.

This is about more than 3 years though isn’t it ? Anyway, post what you like of course, just thought it seemed surprisingly harsh.

Just reading the brum fans on twitter. Never seen a bunch of fans happier about a signing. Fair play. I feel a bit gutted right now.

A true club legend who provided many moments of Watford FC folklore.

He definitely stayed two years too long and in the end it was like a toxic relationship. Many couldn’t wait to get rid of him but when it finally ended it was exactly like a toxic relationship ending, the right thing to happen but it has still resulted in sadness and feelings of nostalgia and regret.

The right thing for all involved and I truly hope he smashes it at Birmingham City.

Yes good all round though sad and I suspect they may not quite get the Troy Deeney they were expecting.

I haven't been that happy with a Watford signing since Moussa Sissoko. I miss that feeling.

It's all been said often enough, not just by me, but I'm not gonna pretend the last 3 years, all those unfit season starts, those inexplicable selections despite terrible form, the big mouth antics, the come and get me after relegation didn't happen.

I'm elated he's gone. In a decade, I'm sure I'll look back on his high points with fondness but right now, it's too soon after the years of absolutely awful leadership and performance for me to just fake adulation or goodwill for him.

Opinions on his performances over the past few years and anything else I may have questioned about his attitude etc. aside, now that he's gone and the club can move on I do wish him all the best.

Of course he's a club legend and has been big part of a pretty exciting time in our history. He's created some great, positive memories over the years and was at one point a truly excellent player and captain for us.

When the dust has settled, I'm sure even I and probably others with a similar recent stance on him will only really remember the good times, for which even I can say I'm very thankful for.

This is what happens with time. In a hundred years or so when we are all long gone and the memories have been reduced to video highlights, recollections in black and white on paper his will remain a name as well known to those that remember their club history from Skilly Williams to Cliff Holton to Luther Blissett.

PS Moog's opinion may be unpopular but he has a right to that opinion whatever you may think. Please refrain from calling each other names.

Why would that baffle you ?

He’s 50% humour and 50% toxic bile that he is incapable of keeping within.

You just have to wade through the rivers of poison to get to the jokes . Prob just about worth it in the end .

Look the point is with Deeney, he’s a club legend and rightfully so. He’s been a key part of the last decade - those of you slagging him off for substandard performances the last 2 years are, frankly, idiots

To the tune of Elvis Presley's "Suspicious minds"?

I'm happy Troy Deeney is gone. A notoriously unprofessional character. Bye!

Do you think Troy was happy with substandard performances? I highly doubt it, so why should fans be happy with them?

It’d be nice if the “please refrain from calling people names” included players as “people”.

The signing of Ashley Fletcher makes a lot more sense now (and I don't mean that in a bad way, after all, he's 1 from 1 at the moment!)

You’re missing the point. Yes his performances declined…..but his record over more than a decade puts him in the legendary category. Some posters are missing this point.

A top class Championship striker whose story and role in that 11/12 season will remain in my memory forever, culminating in that incredible moment vs Leicester that wrote him into club folklore. He was incredible that season and for the next 3 seasons he played above what I think is his natural level. His determination and resolve were phenomenal, spurred on by adversity and sheer bloody-mindedness at times. He scored some incredible goals in some incredible games, and he'll always be a club legend.

He frustrated me a lot too at times, and I think in recent seasons we've seen him struggle to live up to the hype that began to circle him. His performances have been lacklustre and it was time to go, probably a season or two too late. Happy he's going to his boyhood club and good luck to him.

Quite. Don't see any reason the players or club hierarchy should be treated any differently.

It's perfectly possible to be critical without being nasty (which is not the same thing as an off-colour joke).

What a strange feeling watching Troy’s video. Looking back 18 months it’s rather fitting that the last goal we saw him score live helped us to destroy ‘unbeatable’ Liverpool in that great Watford performance.
All the very best to him and thanks for the memories.

Wow, I came to the news late and although it has been on the cards it's still a shock. Great memories of a true legend. I've just been reading through Twitter - usually full of hate - and every comment is full of respect, even from Palace and Villa fans. I hope he is a success at Brum and importantly, scores against Luton!

Judging by their first 3 performances this season they clearly need a striker, in the spirit of the times, why not make him a hometown hero?;)
