Agreed. I genuinely can't recall a single swap deal that has happened in the history of football. Why do they always get inserted into made up football rumours?

Kacaniklic joined Fulham as part of the Konchesky deal when he moved to Liverpool.

Zlatan to Barca from Inter, 40 mill + Eto'o

more recently there was Odemwingie signed for Stoke in a swap deal with Jones signing for Cardiff

Ashley Cole swapped Arsenal for Chelsea with Gallas going the other way

Didn't Defoe and Zamora swap when Defoe signed for Spurs?

There have been a lot more than you'd think.

Norwich and Leeds did a swap deal with Morison and Becchio recently, I believe.

    It isn't even a rumour

Someone on twitter offered it as a hypothetical scenario.

I think only a true simpleton could believe that Leicester would offer Vardy who is probably worth 5m himself along with a further 8m for Troy Deeney

I rate the lad at Bournemouth Lewis Grabban; well worth a punt IMO, whether we sell TD or not!

Any fee is going to be £1m now, £1m soon, £1m one day, £1m if they stay up, £1m if they go down and then go up again, £1m if he makes 50 appearances, £1m if he scores 20 goals, 7 with his left foot, 7 with his right and 6 with his head, and all the other crap. I'm sure we'll have to pay Walsall something as well - 10% profit means that on £5.5m we have to pay them £500k

Shame but thats the way it is now

Would cost too much. Money the Pozzo's won't spend.

I know his name has popped up a few times and has also been dismissed but I'm throwing Adam Le Fondre back in the mix as a replacement. He's currently unsure of his future at Reading as their ownership is a bit up in the air. He's happy to stay there and they'll be in the Championship. It is an option and it'll be better than an unproven player.

  12. Watching him on HP and his tweets the last few days I don't get any vibes he wants away... I'm beginning to think we might just keep him

I've been watching the HP vids too, and they gave me the same impression.

Deeney likes being the main man and his comments on Eustace show he really wants to be an important player at a club. If he moves to another club there is no guarantee he'll continue to have what he has with us, and he clearly enjoys what he has.

I am currently thinking we may very well see him here near year as the new club captain, unless an absolutely ludicrous bid comes in. If the Pozzos really do mean business next year (as Jon Marks has stated), keeping Deeney at the club would have to be a high priority.

You're beginning to think we might keep him when the transfer window hasn't even opened yet? My bet is one of the promoted teams or lower half teams panic and throw money at us that we can't refuse towards the end of the window.

I have said before, that I think that the time is right for Deeney to move on. However, if he stays, he has the potential to become a club legend. For all his faults and mistakes, if he stays with us, when better offers could be on the table and plays a part in a future with us which includes promotion, he could have a stand named after him in 30 years. It's up to him. Money and the bench at Stoke, or legendary status in Watford.

Marlon King went for the money.

  17. He's getting married this summer and also having another baby, that's going to keep him pretty busy and he might decide he doesn't needs the stress / distraction of a move.

He's seen Vydra move for money and hardly shone; and no doubt he's passed the time of day with Luther who moved to Milan only to come back a year later.

I get the impression he likes being a big fish in a smaller pond (agree with Moog he could become a club legend) and can turn down a big move if he chooses, Di Natale did I believe several times (Sherlock?)

So yes, I wonder if we might just be keeping him after all.....

The situation appears to be that he is not angling for a move and if one doesn't happen he is happy to stay. However, if we accept a big offer from a Premier League club he will almost certainly still move.

This ties in with what I've heard. He may move, but don't be surprised if he doesn't. You heard it here second.

Not really a punt, he's only scored two less than Deeney! Due to his age, they would probably be asking for us to break our transfer record to sign him.

Don't think it is going to happen.

I absolutely love Graham Taylor, but I think most would agree that we should have prioritised the only man more talented whilst renaming our stands.

Maybe we can still call it the South West Tommy Mooney corner.

The Graham Taylor stand will be renamed in 2019 when GT takes over as owner/manager of Premier League Luton Town.

Quite a few people have said that players go to the Premier League because of the money. I don't doubt that some do, but it's got a lot to do with ambition too - if you were Vydra, would you want to play in the Championship or for a top-10 Premier League team (which West Brom were)?

New article from the Wobby on the player/management row but this quote from Deeney is somewhat interesting.

Everything suggests to me that he isn't going and I'm probably getting my hopes up far too much of him being here next season.

Gotta wait for firmed up bids on table then personal negotiations , as far as he is concerned at this moment he is a watford player , however during this close season I expect that will change. I think Burnley have made an offer that was too low ! depends if they come back with a decent offer.
