I have to admit the Masai Mara was very commercial but it was very small part of the trip. We did Lake Nakuru with thousands of flamingo's, Amboseli National Park as well. Lot of driving but you got to see everything about Kenya. Hot air balloon over Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the best things I've ever done

One of my most treasured possessions is a photo of my son (then aged about 14) looking thoroughly pi55ed off while being cuddled by Tigger at Disney

A chum of mine made a few bob out of mining sold everything and built a hotel in the foothills of the High Atlas mountains. Its wonderful. I'll try to post a link to his website (I'm typing on my phone and that is beyond me!). If you've never been to Morocco give it a go. Short flight, superb food, lovely people and, importantly, although it's Islamic, getting a decent bottle of plonk isn't a problem.

Yes and great contrast between Marrakesh, the coast and the high Atlas mountains.

We found Essaouira on the coast very different and we also much preferred Fez to Marrakesh as it seemed more like ‘old’ Morocco.

Yes not sure of the spelling but that’s where we stayed on the coast. Only one trip to Morocco and didn’t visit Fez but heard it’s nice. Was very ill in the mountains so pretty much missed the 3 days we had there.

We like Fez, although I felt slightly uncomfortable once or twice while walking about late in the evening (nothing to do with the food) which I've never felt in Marrakech. Essaouira is supposed to be lovely -did you enjoy it?

We’re off to Sidmouth this year. I’m hoping to have a trip on the tram.

I've a trip planned to the west coast of Ireland for a week in early/mid August but I'm starting to think I could be better off going elsewhere in Europe (Ireland supposedly only opening up hospitality indoors late July which leaves it a little close for comfort).

I've been having a look at Iceland, which I think lets you in with no quarantine if you have had both doses (I will get my second dose a week before I go). Is there anywhere else in Europe people are considering this summer?

Iceland does allow you in with proof of 2 jabs. They dropped the requirement for a test on arrival this week but you need a test before flying back out. Still need the test to leave the UK of course and when you return. It's an amazing place if you've not been before. We've booked this trip with a few edits. https://iceland.nordicvisitor.com/t...rs/iceland-complete-express/1291/#itineraries It seems like a lot of driving but excellent roads with virtually no cars.

Can also walk to the errupting volcano and see the lava near Reykjavic (5km walk each way).

Last visit we did this shorter tour. https://iceland.nordicvisitor.com/travel-deals/self-drive-tours/express-iceland/175/. (Reversed into a bollard in the hire car but managed to get so much mud caked on the back that the extensive damage didn't show beneath the mud. We deliberately returned it 5 mins before the rental office shut so no time to properly inspect it......)

Obviously not the place to go if you want beaches and sunbathing though :).

Yes - we only went there on a day trip but it was well worth it. It feels different because it has Christian and Jewish influences. There are lots of blue and white fishing boats and architecture that you don’t find in the likes of Marrakesh. It does tend to be rather windy however.
