According to a Derby season ticket holder I work with. Derby were often set up to avoid defeat. He is totally bemused by the way Derby approached the second leg of the play off semi-final. Trying to defend a 1-0 rather going full throttle for a win. Vydra is the only jewel left in the squad and will get sold this summer. They still have an old high wage squad that they need to trim back. Can't understand why Lampard wants to fail there
I see Brighton have had a £2m bid rejected for McNair but are expected to go in again. Still fairly young, home grown, versatile and can score goals. Played very well after coming back from injury last season. Was also very good last night for NI. Could do worse than having him as a squad member for a few million. Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
Having missed 30 games last season, and 27 the year before, he would fit in perfectly with the values of our squad.
Carnage at Sporting at the moment hopefully Bruno Fernandes hands in his resignation and fancies a crack at the Premier League. He already knows the Pozzo's.
Just read up on this situation. Seems all their players are handing in their notice!!! Seems the boat has been missed on Rui Patricio as he’s going to Wolves and William Carvalho will have his pick of clubs beyond us...do they have anyone else we should be in for? At the very least we should join in with the vultures and get our £3m back for Zeegelaar under the trade descriptions act.
Please not Shaqiri is my heartfelt plea. Massively overrated and overpriced. A good player, but not one that plays for a team or has the impact his skills should suggest.
Not what Stoke fans thought. He was one of the few they exempted from criticism at the end of the season.
I've heard similar. I think he's probably a scapegoat because people see he's a quality player in a relegated team so automatically think he's downed tools or not bothered. I doubt we's ship his wages - but if you look at his club record and international record, it far surpasses any wide player in our team.
Not what the Stoke fans I saw said, they complained about his lack of desire to work for the team and track back defensively and his highlight reel style of play where he'd pop up once a month with a worldie or a great tv performance and do little like everyone else the rest of the time.
Possibly a fire sale at The Villains? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44376099 The final three paragraphs make interesting reading for any vultures circling... This news will come as a shock to Aston Villa fans, who are still coming to terms with the play-off final defeat. It will also do little to calm fears that the club has entered a deeply troubling financial situation after missing out on the windfall that would have come with promotion. The club's owner Dr Tony Xia has previously stated that Villa face "severe" challenges under financial fair play rules. In short, Villa need a stabilising influence and they need it quickly with the squad needing drastic surgery to prepare for a third season in the Championship.
I know it’s been said elsewhere but Wolves are looking at spending £35m on a RB!!! Cancelo. FFP isn’t even a thing anymore is it?
Repeat of Leeds perhaps. They desperately needed to win the 2006 PO Final and ended up getting relegated the year after.
Jordan Amavi (LB) from Villa would be worth a gamble in my opinion. Youngish (24), went to Marseille on loan when Villa went down and has had a belter of a season (nabbing 7 assists in all), even starting the Europa League final against Atletico. With Villas impending financial troubles, now would be a perfect time to land him for cheap.
Signed for Marseille permanently in Oct last year after meeting stipulated loan agreement according to his Wikipedia?
Ah that makes sense as to why I haven't seen his name floated around as leaving Villa then! Saw he was due to return on Soccerway but they've obviously got out-dated info.
Daniel Sturbridge reported available for £15 million. Worth a punt? At least that's one treatment table filled every week.
I know we are not a so called BIG CLUB, but if we want to move up to the next stage and become a top half PL team, we really should try and bring in at least one world class player even if it really stretches our bank to do it, and that player should be a striker!
Started a thread in wrong place ... anyone else reckon we’d should go for Big Ben foster .? At least another 3/4 years at top level I reckon which gives dahlberg time to develop .!.?
He should be able to do a job until our young Swedish guy is ready to step up to the plate, Dhalberg (spelling)?
Jack Wilshere has just announced he is leaving Arsenal on a free transfer (plus a high signing on fee no doubt) Sound perfect for us - injury prone/inconsistent and a bit ill-disciplined.
Top player Top top top player Should have been at the world cup but it would have been an unfair advantage
A legend of the game. The only player to ever be better than the pairing of Xavi and Iniesta on his own. A lovely lad to boot. Genuinely a class above in every department including DIY and gardening. I'd say sign him but I think Barcelona and Real Madrid might be ahead of us in that particular queue. The thought of him in a Watford shirt makes me soil myself with excitement.
