The way King is playing, I will be surprised if we don't sign a striker or winger. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
Hope we don't wait that long. Last minute signings are usually players who can't get a game for Udinese
Could probably do a bit better in front of goal at times, but a lot of the service to him has been awful and he is spending most of the game with his back to goal and doing donkey work to try help the team. Given that Newcastle just spent £25m on Chris Wood I dread to think what signing an improvement on King would cost.
Good point.... If a striker is restricted to chasing for scraps he's not going to get many real chances. I spose it's same in most positions... Goalie with awful defence, fullback with lazy midfielder in front, centre mid trying to cover 2 oppo players most of the game... Etc? Those are the issues CR has to sort out and LB was a huge issue so one down... I assume CR is expecting Kabs back soon and for Seriallta to get match fit (he's better than we've seen of him lately).
Yeah - Mariappa, Cathcart etc were all made to look a lot better than they were by having Capoue and Doucoure in front of them. They still looked **** mind. No faith in Kabasele. Not sure he is really a great deal better than Cathcart, and can't stay fit longer than 2-3 matches on the bounce. I think there is a player there in Sierralta, but he is not really showing it this season. The injuries, changes to his defensive partners and our overall lack of confidence / form probably don't help though.
It's an unbelievable signing for a club like them. He's not suddenly not going to be an excellent footballer because of what happened. If he's fit to play he's good enough to play for far bigger, better sides. I wonder if we tried our luck at all as well. I'd have loved to see him here. Some proper attacking creativity from midfield and finally someone who can really take a set piece.
Well SSN are saying there’s a few PL clubs in for him so you never know. But Brentford seem to be front-runners and I guess he’d be keen given their Danish links.
We can't really complain. We used our Italian links over the years to bring in the likes of Fabbrini, Motta and Diamanti.
Are they not banned or does it not come into effect until the summer? Not that I am going to complain about him joining as he is dog muck.
Things have gone very quiet on any potential new centre-back. I guess Gino and Duxbury really do think Kabasele will be the answer
Will be disappointing but unsurprising if we spend £3-4m on Kalu but fail to spend a penny on CB yet again and have Cathcart stinking out the place.
I would imagine that given Gueye’s suspension has been postponed due to the appeal to CAS, that any transfer ban will also be suspended until the outcome is made clear again.
Different argument. They can replace all 4 and the subs too - but if they are largely crap, what’s the point?
I think there is more to come yet. I'd like to see Thorsby and Vida. Given that we "weren't" in for Kalu and we've signed him, I figure there's no smoke without fire on the other two.
I think Thorsby is a good player - better than what we’ve got. But he is a very similar player to our other midfield options. Unless we’re moving on Tufan and Kucka now I’d rather we prioritize other options. I think Asprilla though would add something different although who knows if he’s ready. At CB, I’d rather we go for a longer-term option than Vida. Koray Guntner, Alexander Dijku and Niklas Stark are all 26-28, experienced and have their contracts expiring in the next 18 months.
Very interesting, not bad suggestions, worth looking into, although personally I would prefer Koray Gunter and Alexander Djiku
Thorsby is naturally a box to box midfielder. An almost clumsy looking footballer sometimes. But his main job in the national team is to win the ball and give it easily. His big let down is his creativity but does pop up and score on occasions. Very decent in the air.
