I wonder if working with Patrick Vieira had a big say rather than whoever our Under 23s coach is . I presume had Hughes stayed but not signed a new deal he would have been left to rot with the kids ?
Probably been suggested before, and certainly his injury record is a concern, but John Swift is doing superbly well this season at Reading. 7 goals and 3 assists in 7 matches. Many of the goals absolute worldies too. Out of contract next summer but maybe (assuming Reading look safe but not in the hunt for playoffs by then) available for a small fee in Jan. He’s a pretty good creator too.
Was being looked at by a few clubs I believe a few seasons ago. Not really followed him tbh but his stats are very impressive this season thus far.
We should bombard Man Utd with the suggestion that a January loan deal for Jadon Sancho would be great for his development. Guaranteed to play every match he is fit, with our experienced players who understand the pressures at Man Utd as a young player along side him. After all the boy has just lost out to Ronaldo, so he who ain’t going anywhere near a first team start this season.
“Ah, just waiting to see who’d be the first one to spot that” i must subconsciously have assumed Sarr will be spending New Year’s Eve doing his medical at Anfield!
Paper talk is that Dean Henderson wants a loan. Probably worth a look - can’t be too many PL clubs with uncertainty over their no.1 ‘keeper?
Why would Utd loan him out? It would he like is loaning Foster out, unless of course he had an instant recall clause
Difference is that Foster is 38 years old and happy to sit on the bench, Dean Henderson is a 24 year old England international who surely has an eye on usurping Pickford
Of course, but from Utds point of view I don’t see the benefit to them in loaning out a player who is only marginally behind being their first choice, and probably a mistake or two from De Gea in being first choice. The player might want it, but I don’t get the benefit to the club in the slightest, surely better for them to have competition ready in waiting for an error prone De Gea?
Utd bizarrely gave him a £120k p/w contract last summer - there won't be many clubs willing to match that, even on loan, and it certainly wouldn't be us.
Henderson ended the year as Utd no.1, but got long Covid, and hasn’t really been playing. Unless there is something which isn’t in the public domain, I imagine he’ll be staying put.
Gerbin Mood. Albanian youngster who currently plays for Egnatia. Good feet and header of the ball. Lots of pace and strikes fear into opponents. Worth a punt for sure.
Another Man Utd player who might make more sense for a loan and actually be feasible is Anthony Elanga. With Utd knocked out the Carabao Cup there probably won't be many minutes for him, and he's done well in his cameos so far. He's rapid and also has a knack for goals. He's comfortable playing on both wings and could be useful for when Sarr is at the Afcon. He might be a more dangerous option off the bench than Sema. Unlike Brandon Williams, he's not a liability when on the pitch.
To be fair, they do have Tom Heaton on their books as well who would be an adequate No.2 so it’s not crazy to suggest Henderson could go out on loan.
Might've been posted before but I've just seen this and made me laugh thinking I wonder if this is what our future targets meetings are like!!!
Strangely enough, was mentioned on TV last night that he’s been approached by Cameroon to represent them as his dad played for them. Seems to be suggested he will stick with Sweden though.
Apparently the plan was for Henderson to be no. 1 this season but he got knocked for six by covid. Plus he has a weird kicking action so no thanks.
My dear fellows KGT and TUT. This is a wind up. I thought since there is a love of puns and anagrams that I would throw some in. Gerbin Mood is Doom Bringer.... Sorry. My expertise is mainly in Argentine football and to a lesser extent South America having for a while created option files for youth players for the PES series. I do go around the leagues in Europe looking at youth players checking their international records, domestic records. If they pique the interest I have a look at their statistics more closely and watch some videos and make a recommendation. Someone like Jelle Bataille who left Oostend for Royal Antwerp who have that link to Salford Reds. So as a right back someone perhaps we ought to have considered. Looks the part. And Arthur Teate who left the same club for Bologna on a rather cheap loan fee with an obligation to buy. Again someone who would fit the bill for us. Young and with great potential. He has settled into serie A like a duck to water.
Mateo Musacchio is out of contract. I'm not saying he's the answer to all our problems but I can guarantee he'll pass a ball better than any of our current centre backs.
Can we still sign centre-backs? I feel at this stage, it's almost pointless as someone who's been out for this long will need time to get back up to speed
Pin this prediction for future reference. January window: Sarr goes to Liverpool...Deulofeu comes back to Watford.
Putting aside Deulofeu is more of a left-winger, is there anything to suggest that a) Deulofeu is good enough to be the same force in the Prem, and b) he'd want to leave the probably comfortable Udinese for us who are favourites to go down?
Udinese lost again today at home to Fiorentina which makes it 3 straight defeats, so they're not in the greatest form. If we're doing ok and Udinese are struggling, then it's not beyond the realms of possibility as a 'fan appeasement' signing if Sarr does go.
Serie A is **** though, we probably finish top half in that league! I struggle to see 3 teams we can finish ahead of, but there are probably 3 teams that Udinese can finish ahead of. Either way, I struggle to believe that Deulofeu would take a look at us and think we're an attractive prospect right now
I mean, if Udinese keep getting banged with him in the team in a worse league, is he that likely to suddenly come back here and play at a level high enough to help us avoid relegation? (Which as it stands is probably somewhere in the Salah - Messi bracket)
