On what planet is Vincent Jansson a great signing?

The bloke is an absolute donkey and thats with Eriksen, Alli, Son supplying him with chances whilst Spurs dominate games

How well is he going to do in a Brighton team with 10 men in their own half at all times?

We'd be rightly fuming if he had ended up here

Makes sense with Llorent going to Spurs as they (Brighton) needed a striker but not sure he is their answer. Seems Newcastle didn't sign anyone and the fans are in uproar.

Definitely feels like a lot of other teams around us have strengthened this evening.

    Time will tell.

I see the lot up the M25 signed a player who had to cancel his shift at Tesco in order to sign the paperwork - good for him but haha

On the planet where Spurs fans rate him and they finished 2nd last season.

Say what you like about Brighton but they were unlucky 2 years ago (much like us under Zola) and rectified it last year and were considered unlucky not to win the league (much like us under Joka). So far they have played 3 games, lost to City and Leicester and drawn with us. You’re assumption they stick 10 behind the ball is unfair and I’d say you likely have a vague understanding of them - we didn’t do that when we came up. They’ve had a tricky start. But it’s been said by many that they’d have beaten us Saturday if they’d had a decent striker - which Janssen is. Scored a hatful in Dutch league and had a good intl record. And as I say, Spurs fans rate him.

I enjoy your posts. But a newly promoted Brighton and Hove Albion signing a recognised Dutch international from a Top 2 club, who has a good goalscoring pedigree can be considered a great signing I’d say.

Edit: Seriously. Take a look at his goal scoring record in Holland. And his international record. The guy played well when he started for Spurs without much luck but mainly was given a few minutes each week because ‘Harry Kane’. I’d rather have had Jannsen than Gray. Or Okaka. Or Deeney to be fair.

Spurs fans rate him because they're weirdos when it comes to crap strikers, they used to delude themselves thinking Soldado would eventually come good as well

As for Brighton, they're as good as relegated after their performance against us last time out. They had an man advantage in a winnable game for 70 minutes and kept two holding midfielders on throughout, didn't make any attacking subs until 80 minutes+

The problem is the manager, he is brilliant at getting teams up, then he turns them into Karanka's Boro on steroids, ten men behind the ball, 451 in every game, playing for a point. He did exactly the same thing with Norwich. The only chance they have to profit the way he sets them up is with a clinical, fast striker, who can counter attack and take the few chances they create. Janssen is lumbering, slow and wasteful, he spends more time slide tackling centre backs than creating or taking chances on goal. He doesn't have the pace or the clinical finishing to prosper in Hughton's system or the type of games Brighton will be playing this year... where most teams will play a high line and pen them back in their own half with little to no outlet. Even someone crap with only pace (Niasse, Nakhi Wells, Andre Gray [lol] ) would have worked better imo.

I'm extremely confident they will be relegated and he won't score double figures. If i'm wrong, feel free to bump this post later in the season and I will hold my hands up and apologise

By far the most disappointing outcome of Deadline Day was the replacement of the resplendent Kirsty Gallagher by that lumpy , dull , light entertainment blond who came on for the late night shift.

Back from my 48 sabbatical of Watford transfer related news. I didn't look but my brother decided to text me from England and ruin the surprise. So with 3 hours left I found out that we had signed Karnezis and Zeegelaar. Can't remember if Wague had signed by then either.

What a great window. That squad should be enough to see us through the season with some great options available.

I would imagine that next summer we will go all out for a starting 11 LB as Holebas will be 34 and Zeegelaar sounds like a bit of donkey. Happy for him to prove me wrong though.

Karnezis is a great signing and judging by avid Serie A fans, he has easily been in the top 5 GK's for the past 3 seasons.

Wague is abit of an unknown entity but the fact Leicester signed him on loan before he dislocated his shoulder gives me confidence, purely because they seem to find good players on the cheap.

Surprised that there was no outs.

Our squad is massive and there are going to be a few players unhappy at not making the squad.

Silva has a tough job on his hands now keeping everyone happy. With our injury record though, that shouldn't be too difficult.

Overall, a great window for Watford FC. A window that should see us cement our place in the Prem.

I have to say I'm somewhat dissapointed I cant use the joke; many clubs have bought success, but we're the only team to have sold success.

Janssen is absolute sh*te. One of my good friends is pretty down to earth and knowledgeable Spurs season ticket holder and he had completely run out of patience with him. The guy has no stand out qualities that make him look like he'll ever be anywhere near good enough for the Premier League.

Drinkwater 27 years old - £35m v Chalobah 22 years old £5m. Is the world going bonkers!

I think if we had put Chalobah on market yesterday someone would have offered £40m - I really do. Thank god we got that sewn up early in window

I said earlier, imagine what figure he will demand next Summer or even in January. No doubt the best signing of the window.

I would add Femenia to the list, as aside from the blip against Liverpool he looks technically a very tidy player and good back up at RB.

Totally agree. Chalobah is the bargain of the century. Some would say Renato Sanchez to Swansea, which is a coup but remember he is only a loan. Also Chalobah could get an England cap tonight after only 3 games with little old Watford. Unbelievable Jeff!

No mention on BBC of Jansen extension being granted? Website just says he turned down the move ?

The Sanchez signing is excellent for Swansea and may be enough to keep them up. Sakho signing for CP also very good. WBA signing the midfielder chap and Gibbs and keeping Evans was good. Leicester keeping Vardy and Mahrez and signing Dragovic was good.

Not sure holding onto Deeney and Okaka was in the masterplan !

Agree it's been a good window. I think our recruitment hasn't been scattergun as in the past. It feels we knew where needed improving and got players for those positions. Didn't lose any key players so we've definitely improved the squad.

I think finishing so low did have an impact and Dowling alluded to that on bbc last night so hopefully we finish higher so players see we are a team progressing rather than stagnating.

Our deadline day wasn't as bad as Newcastle or Bournemouth and I'd probably add Brighton/Palace to that list.

The problem is everyone focuses on deadline day, so it's going to skewer the view. We got most of our business completed early and the 3 positions we needed cover were addressed yesterday.

This transfer window was one of the strongest and most exciting for a very long time.....no scatter gun approach, just key players bought to fill required positions. We have strengthened whilst other teams that may be in and around us have stayed the same or moved backwards

It's going to be a good season..

If the transfer window was a marathon, we decided to go off early at the gun and see what the rest would do. Man Utd came with us, and slowly built up a lead. Chelsea remained on the start/line and proceeded to take off their running kit and give it away confusing everyone. Everyone stayed much of a muchness until the closing stages, when United stayed up front and we stayed just behind. Sadly we got caught in the final 100m by West Brom, Leicester and Swansea but all in all had a great race but looked a little jaded at the end and threw everything at it without really having a ‘kick’ down the home-straight. Chelsea eventually got some overpriced gear from Sports Direct but still left everyone wondering what they were doing after being the front runner last year with plenty of kit. Arsenal didn’t compete this year after pulling up lame and will likely be retired in the coming months. Everyone else were also rans....

    In summation:
    Transfer Window - Brilliant work.
    Deadline Day - Disappointing.

The 3 signings we made were almost certainly plan B or C for the 3 positions behind Gibbs, Patricio and Dragovic and no last minute mega surprise While watching on as others closed impressive signings. I'm with Burnsy overall pretty good but last day a bit of a damp squib.
