So that's 3 players we should have released that have new contracts. Lowering the standard to...the level we will be at next season.
Credit where credit is due, they’re preparing for life in League One nice and early. Could do a job against Stockport and Exeter.
I was thinking the same. There seems no other explanation other than someone needs to give their head a wobble.
We're exactly the type of club who sack TC in March while we are 6 points above the drop and then bring in Paul Ince to relegate us...
For me his performances were below expectation last season. As my expectation of him this season is even lower than before, I think he has a chance of being above my expectation. Which balances out over two years. Home grown and knows the league. Could be a real asset in the 25/26 season.
Presumably slightly less positive than the ones here! https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...es-new-contract-watford-2026/#comments-anchor
Very strange. Has played a large part in pre season and presumably it's a reduced salary but still not sure why it's been done. I do think he's better than most have said and last year he barely played
If the suggestion is correct that they’ve done it in exchange for reduced wages now, then the cash flow situation must be extremely dire. Not sure how much longer is the road we keep kicking the can down.
Or by saving a few thousand a week on Inces wages, it allows us to put a more attractive proposal together for a potential loan signing?
having to “fatten and tug” an existing player contract just to finance a loan would indicate absolutely desperate finances?
But you can argue 3 is "a few" and he did miss at least 1 sitter from the highlights. So it's already true
Well if you're saying that 3 is indeed "a few", which to be fair is actually a reasonable synonym, then you must now think he'll not score again for the rest of the season?! Which actually wouldn't surprise me.
